With fast pace, Ezekiel and Marvella proceeded to Jerissa's chamber. But to their surprise, she was not there.
Noticing the royal siblings, the mercenaries who were taking patrols in that area greeted them and lowered their heads in respect.
"Where is the maidservant assigned in this room?" Ezekiel asked.
"Your Majesty, she was transferred to the maids' chamber just a while ago," one of them said.
His companion added, "Ah, I remember her! The head maid dragged her on the carpet, even though she was bleeding badly."
"Bleeding… badly?" Ezekiel's mind turned blank in rage. What the hell had they done to Jerissa?!
In a panic, the king ran to the direction of the maids' chamber, not minding anyone around him. He banged the door of the chamber, shocking everyone, especially the head maid.
"Your Majesty…?" she was pulling Jerissa's long hair, and when he saw him, she immediately let her go.
"What do you think you're doing, torturing my sister's maid?" King Ezekiel growled.
