"A surprise?" Maria asked with excitement in her voice. She had always loved surprises since the time she was little. Only good things came when someone said they had a surprise.
"Mmhm," Arthur said as he chuckled next to her ear. He pulled away from the hug, grabbed her hands, and started to walk towards the door, but Maria yanked back on his hands and let them go so that she could put her shoes back on before they left the room.
Once she was ready, she practically skipped out the door to get to her surprise faster. Arthur laughed at her enthusiasm and grabbed her hand to pull her back and slow her down.
"You don't even know where we are going, so you should probably stick with me, my darling," Arthur said, still smiling at how cute he thought Maria was being.
"Oh, right," she replied with a giggle as she used her free hand to hold onto Arthur's arm.
