Synopsis
~~~~ "Hurry up you lazy lizard, D*mn it!" A human knight yelled at her, tugging her chains. She let out an icy hiss, a layer of ice enveloped the chains, only to be immediately melted over. She hated the chains the humans made. They restricted her, sucking up her mana like leeches sapping away blood. She the humans who took her from her home, who used her for their own twisted amusement. What if she came back? What if I'm not there when she returns? Will Onyx leave me? Would she think I left on my own? The thought chilled her to the bone. She lifted her head, the knight was smirking at her, mocking her feeble attempts to freeze the chains over. "Up, now!" He shouted again "The crowd is waiting, useless thing" He yanked her chains harder, the magic activating and giving her a terrible sting all over her scales. It felt like bugs biting her all over, crawling in and biting her scales, her horns, her eyes. She roared in pain, her only form of release, black talons scraping the concrete. Please wait...I just need a little more time She got up, wobbling a little. She let the human lead her into the arena. *CR-CHUNK* The gates opened. Another day of battle awaits...just a little more time...I just need to be a bit stronger She stepped into the arena. The light on her black scales glimmered, icy blue markings dancing across them, a stark contrast that made the humans gasp in awe. Their shouts of excitement clawed at the dragon's ears. She breathed out a shaky sigh. Bring it on. ~~~ In a 'beautiful' fantasy world full of magic and mana, a girl named Mira, with no memories of her parents, or the tragedy that caused her trauma, slowly learns of the darkness and betrayal behind it all. Chapter 1 - Prologue
*Thump Thump*
Ignis Verasia sighed at the sound of knocking on her door. Her room in the Tower of Magic was the closest to the entrance, on the first floor, where the sunlight enveloped the room in a golden veil.
When she first came here, she thought of herself as lucky. That is, until the knocking came. Everyone who came to the tower in need of assistance were told to go to her. Her 'room' became an office. She groaned, she had just made tea for herself after a long day of paperwork.
Getting up, she opened the door, preparing herself for any hysteric crying or yelling.
"Hah...What is it-" She paused, blinking in confusion, "Master?"
The master of the tower stood in front of her door, holding a small child by the collar. The child clearly was uncomfortable, they had an awfully adorable grumpy expression on their face. Pitch black hair, calming light blue eyes, and bright soft-looking skin.
"Ahem, Lady Verasia, you're staring." The tower master, or rather, Eugene, said in an impatient tone.
"Right.. sorry. Er.. Master, who is this kid?" Ignis looked at the small girl dangling in the air. Black hair, blue eyes, no way- "Is she yo-"
*SLAM*
Eugene slammed his fist on the wall next to her door. His deep blue eyes glaring a hole through her head.
"Never." He spat, dropping the little girl, who was surprisingly calm. "Take care of this girl. She says her name is Mira. Don't let me see her wandering the halls, got it? Or that red hair you always brag about will be ash tomorrow." He snapped at Ignis.
Eugene turned around, walking of hastily. Ignis could see a hint of something in his eyes, but focused on the child.
"Hello, Mira" Ignis said, gently. "Ignore that rude oaf. I'm Ignis, here, come inside, I'll get you some tea"
The girl, Mira, looked up at Ignis, a soft smile on her face, she grabbed Ignis's hand, following her in.
"Iggy!" Mira giggled.
'Her smile.. its as bright as the sun'
