"Well, she got some authoritative aura in her, so…" Emma whispered in a light tone, afraid of anyone else hearing.
"Yeah, I heard she had been the student council president ever since she joined as a middle schooler in Sandra Middle. That part of her, well it sure is cool, maybe?" Dew looked back at the three girls, "But guys, look at her. She looks kinda, sinister, maybe a bit fake too? I don't know, something about her seems like a cover she put on. And honestly, our Hazel is practically way prettier than her. If anyone, she should be the Goddess or such. I wonder if the boys here didn't get the eyes what it takes to see." Dew shook his head in a hopeless manner, completely oblivious about the fact that his sudden but honest statement made someone red to the point of burning in embarrassment.
"Hello, lovely freshmen!" Rena stood up straight in front of the entire class, as she addressed them. "Student council here. It's already been a week since your arrival at Sandra High, and as being a student council president, I should apologize for not greeting you sooner," Rena paused for a while, and everyone thought she would apologize to the whole class. But she continued as if she was never supposed to be sorry in the first place. "But you know how busy senior years should be, and on top of it, I am in charge of controlling the most influential and disciplined student council among all the schools in this city. So, it is hard enough to deal with. I hope you didn't mind that."
"Yeah yeah, sure the boys here never mind it at least…" the four of them surely had the same thought running in their mind.
"Well then, it's introduction time. As I said, I am the president elected last year, and this is Sharon, who is my lovely Student body secretary, and my friend," she pointed out to the girl beside her, who was equally emitting a strong aura. And she was moderately refined-looking as well.
"And then coming to this sturdy guy, he is our Vice President Lloyd, isn't he handsome?" Rena put her hand on his shoulders as she continued, "our student council is way more helpful than you can ever imagine, and among all of them, this sophomore Lloyd is the best. So, girls, any help, don't hesitate to come to him."
Airi literally could hear the squealing of girls around her, when Rena introduced Lloyd to them. Just then, Emma gave a poke to her. "Airi, do you find this guy handsome?" Hazel also heard her.
Airi looked at them, and stared at their faces for a minute in awkward silence. Then in unison, three of them said, "No way!"
Emma was a bit relieved to know her friends having the same thoughts. "He looks gross, and there is this play boyish look on him too."
Hazel added, "Right? He got this harasser face on him, I'm sure he is there to play around with girls. And now he is eying on juniors."
Airi sighed inwardly, "Haah, Dew was right at some point. Not only boys, but girls here too have got no eyes."
While these three friends were talking, Rena was finished with her talk. While she was about to take her leave, suddenly she called out to someone. And the name she called out to, made the entire class almost craning their neck to look at that person.
"Who among you is Airi Arne?" All of a sudden Rena asked about Airi.
And everyone present in the classroom immediately turned their head towards Airi, totally dumbfounded. Even Airi herself was surprised, wondering why a senior would look for her.
Even though she was clueless about it, she didn't show that to her face. She calmly raised her arms to make herself noticed. "It is me."
Upon finding Airi, Rena looked towards her and gave a flashy smile. "Ah, there she is. I heard about you. And since then, I wanted to make your lovely acquaintance." Rena got down from the dais, and walked up to the middle of the classroom, where Airi was standing with Hazel and others.
"If that's okay with you, I would like to have a nice chat. So, care to come to the student council's office during lunch?" Rena politely asked her. "I am cordially inviting you there."
She clearly gave out a pretty smile, which would make her seem friendly, but somehow, something felt off about that smile. Airi could feel that, but couldn't grasp correctly what was off about it. Rena was cool, even cooler up close, yet something was…
"Airi? I asked you something. Will that be, okay? Of course, I am not going to force you if you have any prior arrangement, or…" she gave a glance at the other three students around Airi, "you got to spend your time with them."
It was no use wondering on her own, the only way she would know for sure is to go and talk to her. So, she agreed, "Okay, sounds good. I'll drop by."
"Fantastic! I will be looking forward to it then." After that, she took her leave with the other two students she brought with her.
"So, she is the one the teachers were praising all through the week, huh?" Emma grabbed on Airi's hand to grab her attention, "What does she want to talk about? I mean, out of all people, why a student council president looked for a mere newcomer…"
"Of course, you will be called upon if you go on bullying her own sister on the very first day. Heh, off you go. Now deal with it." It was a boy just standing close to Emma.
"Right? I mean, of all things, she didn't have to mess with her right? Some dumb only mess with someone powerful or such."
"I wonder what she is going to do now."
"Yeah, she was acting all mighty on the first day, let's see if she can deal with senior Rena now."
"Hahahaha."
The entire class kept whispering at first, but soon enough they didn't even bother to whisper, and started saying stuff about Airi. By those whispers, it was clear who was the reason for the incident that just now happened.
"It's that Maria Sinclair." Airi came to a conclusion.
"It seems like it. They are saying it's about the senior's sister, so Maria is her sister then?" Hazel asked back, though she was already aware of the answer.
"I can't believe that weirdo would go complaining like a baby to her sister. What is she, in elementary?" Emma sounded frustrated.
"Well, I don't think the talk would go well… What are you going to do, Airi?" Dew asked her concernedly.
Airi looked at her friends, and she could see them a bit tense for her. "Oh, my friends, you are being scared of nothing. She is just a senior. What can she possibly do to me? And moreover, it's not that I have done anything wrong, and also, she is the president, so I hope she would be someone of a fair nature. At least she seems like that."
Even if she says it, there was this faint doubt still there in her mind. She was feeling like this meeting is not going to be a peaceful one, at least not after hearing that it might be caused by that problematic girl.
"Want me to go with you?" Dew suggested.
"And what will you do? Fight with that Lloyd? Heh, did you see that guy? How muscled he was? Do you want to die or what, Dew?" Airi mockingly pointed out his figure, "Look at you, you are so skinny, you think you have enough strength to fight back even me?"
Hazel and Emma burst out laughing hearing the harsh remark of Airi.
"Okay, I might not have right now, but I will start exercising and be strong huh!" Dew talked back raising his voice, with a bit of a flushed face. "And I am definitely not skinny, at least not too skinny!"
"You better be!" Airi patted his shoulder. "And don't worry, just go have lunch without me, I will let you know whatever happened the first thing after coming back."
Hazel, Emma and Dew nodded lightly. Seeing Airi calm about the whole situation made them feel relieved too.
------
When the lunch break began, Airi made her way towards the student council office. In front of her was a huge gate, and she knew that past this gate were the student council bodies waiting for her.
She knocked on the gate, and soon the gate opened from inside, and there she was, sitting on a chair inside the room.
The student council office looked so royal, it felt too surreal. And the decor it had, felt too much contradicting with the other parts of the school.
The floor was draped in red carpet, and the furnishers there was deep brown in color, with a golden intricate design. Overall, everything there was majestic.
