Chapter 3 - Strange Encounter

When she opened her eyes, the sky was brighter than before, as if an entire day had passed and a new day started. Rays of sunlight fell on her face, and she felt quite lightheaded.

"Sunlight always feels the best, but of course when you are all comfy in your room."

...

'Uhm? Wait..'

'Wait a dang minute!'

'Did I just sleep an entire day off?'

'I was kidnapped right?!'

'What kind of kidnappers are they, didn't even check on me or somethin'?'

Thoughts like an express train kept running inside her head until that got interrupted by a voice, "Because the Airi they know has always been like that, so it is normal for them."

"Whaddya' mean by I have always been…. woah! You're still here!?" She jumped on her bed, seeing the same bright man leaning against the large cupboard, and looking at her with a deep look.

The man chuckled lightly, "Sure I am. Because I still got to do the work I came for."

The man moved towards her and sat down on one of the sides of the bed of hers, crossing his right leg over the left one. And for the first time, she looked at him clearly.

He was a man of a tall frame, with really long legs. Probably too long, because to her it felt like he could walk around the entire room within a few steps. The way he looked that gave of some kind of peaceful vibe, like a symphony played on a violin or piano.

But he had sharp facial features that totally opposed the melancholy vibe he gave off. He had a chiseled jawline, incredibly fair and smooth skin without even a simple spot on it. His pair of ocean blue hunter eyes had so much depth in it that Airi felt like those eyes could make anyone lost in it, that much dominative power they had. Medium length ashy-brown hair made his face look more brighter than his actual skin tone, and the perfectly tailored white suit with the greyish white overcoat on top of it, made him look composed; also, a bit powerful and domineering.

He had some kind of divine creature like aura surrounding him. He almost felt like those overbearing male leads of the dating simulation games she plays.

He is practically glistening...and he is handsome! He was so perfect looking in everything that it felt too real to be true.

'What a fine-looking man…!'

"Oh, well thanks for the compliment. That was quite unexpected." That man kept a satisfied look on his face, giving a polite little bow.

"Eh? Did I say that out loud? I am sure I was just having the thought…." Airi tried to recall if she had unconsciously worded her thoughts.

"Yes, that was your thought. I just...heard you."

This was enough to bring out a mockingly ugly expression on her face. "Kimo~ hen desu…what's this kimochi warui creature standing in front of me?"

"Disgusting? Weird?" He crossed his hands on his chest, and was a bit annoyed, "Here I was being as polite as to thank you…"

"Then you think you are not? And how are you even getting anything I am saying?!"

"I can get anything you mean, or you think."

"Woah, ways to be narcissistic!" She shrugged her shoulders, "And people think I am weird…"

"Well, aren't you? Always be by yourself, not talking to anyone, just keeping eyes on books or computers, and getting good grades…"

She got silent all of a sudden. Yeah, who would like to get along with someone who likes to be a total loner? And to think she always snatches up the top position...no wonder she is hated by all…

"How...how did ya know that? You looked up on me didn't ya? Tell me who hired ya!"

"You are good to talk with a complete stranger like me, then why are you being that much of a loner? Not that you got anything bad in you…." Though he was talking to her with a smile plastered on his face, yet something about him ticked her badly.

"You are a stranger that's why. You don't know anythin' about me, so you won't judge me for what I like and how I like. And there's no way I can talk to people normally when they think all I do is watch some cartoons and yet secure a top place. Also…" She paused for a while to think about exactly why she preferred to be lonely. She had a more decent reason for that, but it was not something she could tell easily, well, that would make her seem weirder.

"Also?" He tried to pick up where she was rather deliberately trying to stop the conversation.

"Also…who would like to waste words uselessly? I don't like that way too much, that's all. You're my kidnapper, so me stayin' alive depends on ya'. I oughta' talk it out for that right?"

"Oh I see...that's how you think…"

"By the way, you are not answering my question. And how tf are you getting' anything goin' on my mind? What are ya', a god!?"

"Guess I am not the only one who can read minds…"

Haaaah?!

"What do you mean by that? And also, you look quite well off to me, so I don't think it's money you are after, though your home looks a bit different than your appearance. Then why did you guys kidnap me?"

"Well, I guess it's time to clear things out right?" With that, he just waved his hands in the air and the sound of the door lock reached her.

*Click*

"Wait did you just lock…."

The man stopped her in her words immediately. "First of all, you have not been kidnapped Miss Arne, this is perfectly your home till now."

"Who the fu*k are you calling Arne?! I am not…

"Then Airi Shin, 20 years old, a 2nd year college student, student of computer major in Xavier University, blood group B+, has a huge bucket list of animes and mangas want to binge and so spend most of the time doing that…

Airi sneered a little hearing him out loud about herself. "That much intel on me, you sure looked up a lot, guess you got a big shot to pull…"

"Let me finish, lady. I have got to say some more. Well then, ahhhem, a shut-in otaku, lives totally alone as without some weird distant relatives, there is no one to be called, close, to her side, loner outside, but surprisingly doesn't hate to be on spotlight, used to be a chubby cheerful girl but because of some incidents in her childhood, she never again interacted with people, got quite a brain, but that adds up more problems. So, she preferred to shut herself in belief that," he looked at her and enacted his next words in her way, 'it's lotsa better to be a LONER than to be poked at'. Must say you got quite a strange vocabulary there."

Airi was so shocked that she couldn't even process how to react to the events unfolding before her.

She never told anyone about those things!

He even knows about her childhood...and what happened then…

So how can this person get that information about her?

That should be all in the past….

Fear started to build up in her, as her entire biodata to someone she never met was bare open, and the composing manner the man got was somewhat imposing pressure on her.

She couldn't figure out how to respond to all of this no matter how hard she thought about it.

Whoever this is, he sure is good at his work to even dig up this much. But the fact is, why?

"Well, I have to move carefully if I want to figure out his motives. The way he looks so refined and composed, it would be a hard nut to crack." She kept thinking that while not breaking her eye contact with him, even for a second.

She needs to stay calm.

She can't put down her guard here, at all.

And this much, was pretty obvious to her.
