Chereads / The Lordly Grim Reaper / Chapter 39 - Pity

Chapter 39 - Pity

"Do you've what I asked you for?", the spirit of air inquired about the information he was waiting for. The spirit of hope who was standing quiet, contemplating whether he needed to visit the palace nodded.

"Yes."

One day ago

When Ian asked Jeremy to bring him every piece of information about the girl grim was ordered to write the name of in the Death Note, he teleported himself out to Chloe's house. He tailed her to the shopping site. When the girl was exiting the shop with three bags in her hands, he bumped into her. Yes, he faked the intentional meeting as a coincidence.

"What the hell!", one of those bags fell to the ground. Chloe bent down to grab it.

"I'm sorry I didn't see you coming", he made a quick apology, however, this wasn't fake. He was genuinely sorry for her bag.

"That's what most of them say", getting up, she sarcastically rolled her eyes at such a stupid try for grabbing her attention. Many boys tried to hit on her but the girl wasn't interested in dating gutless wonders.

"Oh, it's you, Miss Chloe", keeping up with his act, he wore slightly surprised expressions.

"No Name", Chloe had met him a few times including outside the library when he asked her for some directions, the day he came to pick grim from Ellen's house and again outside the library when he claimed to be friends with handsome a*s. That was when they talked for a while because Chloe saw grim walking past her and she asked him if he knew him. All thanks to grim's looks that the girl was interested in getting to know him more especially after what she saw at Ellen's house.

She believed what Ellen said about them not being together. What if there wasn't anything between them? There could be something for sure. Ellen had never had random boys inside her house. In fact, grim was the first boy who had slept in her house. She had even prohibited his ex to stay over at her house. As her friend, it was her responsibility to do some background research on the boys. She spent hours digging into a pile of profiles on the social platforms, but she couldn't found anything. That was the reason she asked Jeremy to give her the number of grim which he surely exchanged for Ellen's.

"No Name?", Jeremy asked. He had a name. Jeremy, the younger prince of the southern realm. Why the girl was calling him No Name?

"Yes because you never told me your name", Chloe was planning to spend a few hours shopping before her night shift in the club would start but she could sacrifice newly launched dresses for her best friend. She would've every detail spill from the spirit today.

"Well, Miss Chloe, you never asked", light brown hair split from the side, the larger strands swept over an undercut, neatly buttoned white shirt paired with dressed pants of the same colour, to Chloe he looked as if he was a monarch of a hidden country she didn't know about. Well, what she thought was indisputably true.

"Oh please drop the honorific already", Chloe was a free-spirited, lively, a life of the party girl. She was choosy at letting people in her life. Therefore, her social cycle didn't include many people. But whenever it came to partying, she would be the one getting on the dance floor and break it...with her funny moves. She couldn't dance but if people would call hips swaying, head rolling, feet jumpings, then alright she could dance.

"Should we?", a smile crept to Jeremy's lip, the one in type which held secret intentions laced. That was what he wanted, to get friends with the girl. And he got what he wanted. Soon he had every detail on Ellen. First, he had to listen to Chloe's chattering about how she had always got boys trying to sneak into her pants, he enjoyed the girl's humour though, but he was not there for enjoyment. He was on a mission, an undesirable mission. So, without wasting more time, he changed the topic to her best friend. From onwards, he made the girl spilling everything by asking questions like 'her hobbies', 'how she likes to spend her life, 'important people in her life.' And she kept babbling.

Time: The Current Time

After getting information from Chloe, Jeremy had thought not to inform the spirit of air about the gathered data. His consciousness had been standing between him and the spirit of the air. He still remembered his first day with grim. Comparing it with the terms he was on with grim, a lot had been changed and he was pleased for them making it this far together. Grim let him in. Despite being the owner of an arrogant, pretentious personality, he never incurred the spirit of hope any harm. Seeing how pretty they've been getting along, he didn't want what he had with grim burning to ashes.

Notwithstanding Ian's order, he made his mind that if the spirit asked him about updates on the mission he was set on, he would lie. He would buy as much time to grim as he wanted. He just had to lie and keep things going until grim wrote the name of mortal in the Death Note.

After that, the spirit of air wouldn't be needing information anymore and he also wouldn't have to interfere in something that grim owned. Today after hearing the news and seeing grim being stubborn with the spirit of air almost pleading and passing over without giving due attention, he wasn't going to lie. He wouldn't hide any piece of information. And he didn't. While grim was gone with the goddess of love, he let out everything before the spirit of the air.

.....

"When will you come back?", the wrecked beauty laying in the bed with sheets wrapped around her naked body asked.

Grim left the room without replying after putting his pants on since the shirt was already on his upper part. He had never taken his shirt off all the times he had sex with goddesses. He wasn't pleasing them but using their bodies to satisfy his needs and giving pleasure to his mind, it had never been the other way around and he believed it would never be.

Nobody had touched him there. Nobody was allowed. He was a grim reaper, the unique is his kind, and he had his standards. Standards that nobody was born or created to surpass.

"Catherine, I was thinking to...oh God...what happened to you", the goddess of flowers was coming to meet the goddess of love when grim left the room. Unlike other times when he would teasingly flirt with the goddess or at least talked to her about anything but this time, he didn't even look at him. He walked past her as if he had never known her.

When she entered the room and saw the goddess of love breathing heavily, lower lip bleeding, she rushed towards her.

"It was amazing", the goddess of love smiled touching her lips, like a fool in love.

"He is such an uncontrolled monster in bed. Please have some pity on yourself", Cora's voice had worry and sincere concern sewed into it. How she felt useless whenever she would see the goddess of love, longing for love.

"What should I do? The heart wants what is forbidden", the goddess of love never felt sorry for herself.

Rather than having nothing, she was having something and that something was taking everything away from her. But she was relieved that ever since grim had laid his hands on her, he never had sex with any other goddess. There was no denying in her wanting for more. Grim's sincere attentions. Just one kiss with love, not in lust. Touch her gently than slamming hard against her. Make love to her. All she had with him was sex. A needy, steamy, lust-driven sex. Love? Grim would laugh it off hearing the word.

She was spreading love in the world but yearning for a drop of love for herself.

"What were you saying when you entered the room?", she couldn't see the down and sadden expressions on the goddess of the flower so she tried to change the topic.

"I wanted to go on a walk with you since it's nice outside but I doubt you can even stand", Cora chuckled playfully hitting on the covered thigh of the goddess of love. There was anything she could do for the goddess of love. She saw how the goddess tried to change the centre of attention. Accordingly, she also helped her and didn't push the matter any further.

The two goddesses talked, laughed and enjoyed each other's company. Cora was going to tell the goddess of love about the new girl grim wasn't writing the name of in the Death Note. Yesterday, when she caught up with the last words of the conversation between the spirit of sir and spirit of hope, she asked the spirit of hope about the matter. He didn't give her much detail as it was irrelevant to her. He only told her about grim not doing as Ian had ordered by writing the name of a mortal girl. Now, when she saw the goddess of love, she held herself back from speaking anything. She thought it was needless for the goddess to know.

Nevertheless, wrong decisions had been made too many times to be counted by keeping things shaded.
