The next day, grim decided to go to the library to meet Ellen, let's rephrase it, to see Ellen. Last night when he was going back to his apartment after dropping Ellen off at her house he noticed someone following him from some distance. Back then, he was too immersed in thinking of a mortal he met not a while ago that considering it a distraction of his mind, he didn't ought to give this thought a handful of time. But when he woke up in the morning, the events from the last night started replaying in his mind and without his realization, he was smiling to himself like a fool.
"Don't be a fool", Jeremy shouted at him over from the kitchen where he was preparing their breakfast. Yeah, after grin throwing up everything he ate in the toilet bowl, they figured out that his stomach was sensitive to restaurant food. Not just sensitive to restaurant, to food itself. Unlike the spirit of hope, his stomach would refuse having anything inside.
"Why? Can't I smile", in a split second his cold demeanour took over the now sweet still dark aura that nobody had seen yet.
"Yes, you've got all the rights to be smiling but not over a mortal", Jeremy said, placing the plates on the table that was positioned in the balcony where they could see the magnificent skyline of Los Angeles.
"What now? Do you worry that my standards have fallen down to the earth that I'd think about an ordinary mortal being?", they both seated themselves on the couches, facing the brisk life of the city.
Cutting the pancakes into two halves, Jeremy dropped one on Shawn's plate hoping that his stomach might allow the home-made food and started digging into his plate after pouring a glass of fresh orange juice for himself.
"If I'm not wrong someone is following her", grim gulped juice down the throat in one go and moved to the pancake. Trying had never hurt, right?
"Whawt mawde you thinch so?", Jeremy asked with a mouthful of pancake.
Seeing how he was eating, grim decided to shut it down not because he wanted his helper to eat at peace but for the sake of his own relaxation and relief as he wasn't planning to throw up the juice in his stomach in the morning at the sight of Jeremy eating.
However, he didn't eat the pancake. His stomach was already producing weird sounds, the juice coming to his throat. He stood up from his seat and walked to his room. After emptying his stomach, yes he threw up the juice, he changed his robe in a new attire as he walked out with the keys of the car.
"I'm gonna check on her", it's not that he was answerable to Jeremy. But the latter would start eating up his brain like a leach he decided to let him know.
"When are you planning to write her name in the Death Note?", this was when reality hit him. He momentarily forgot that he has been sent on the earth for taking her life, not to hang around with her in the streets of Los Angeles.
"Soon", with that, he turned on his heel to leave the apartment.
"Let's get this done with. I miss realm of skies!", Jeremy screamed from inside the apartment when grim shut the door close and made his way to the elevator.
He could spread his wings and fly to the library, but that means he would have Ellen seeing him and he finally writing her name to end this all that he didn't want to happen at least for a few days. He admitted to himself that he was having fun around the girl since nobody ever dared to call him names and treated him like an ordinary being.
When he got inside the car, he glanced at him in the front mirror and admirably smiled at his unmatched charm. After a drive of few minutes, he hit on the brakes outside the library and jogged up to the shelves where he saw her arranging books yesterday. Upon reaching there, he didn't find her anywhere. Seeing Mrs. Benson coming in his direction he quickly reverted on his steps and waddled out of the library. He had nothing to do with the woman. Yesterday, he was only teasing Ellen for which he succeeded without moving his little finger.
"Maybe she will come late today", it was half-past noon. He decided to wait for Ellen inside the car.
Time Skipped
Daylight changed into dark night engulfing bright rays of sun in its darkness. The sun was replaced by a bright moon with millions of stars shining around the beauty, being scattered all over the night sky. Grim didn't move his eyes from the entrance of the library in case he would miss Ellen going in or coming out any time. But when the security guard started locking the door he quickly hopped out of the car.
"Where's she?", he asked trying to look inside the library over the shoulders of the man who was closing the doors to lock them.
"Who are you asking about young man?", the security guard who was twice the age of grim asked. Well, that's what anyone seeing them could think of without knowing that grim was thousands of years old, too old for his age to be forgotten quite a while ago.
"Little fawn..I mean Ellen", grim asked rolling his fists in a ball out of wrath. Now the guard had locked the door with the key. Grim's anger started boiling as the gatekeeper might have closed Ellen up inside the library. Maybe he was drawn away for a moment and that minute he might have missed Ellen arriving there.
"The young girl who works here? She didn't come today", he backed off saying have a good night to grim.
He ended up in front of Ellen's house. Just as he applied a hit on the brakes, he noticed a familiar figure walking, more like tripping on her way in the dark.
He got out of the car and when the face appeared in the light of the lamp that was hung outside on the top of the door entrance he simply walked up to her.
"Where were you, little fawn?", he asked Ellen who was struggling with keys.
"Ce-cemetery", the instant the key would penetrate inside the lock, her tipsiness would make it get out.
"Maybe she had known that she was going to die that's why she decided to visit the place where she would be laying at forever?", grim thought. How foolish of him to think this way. If someone, gets to know that they are going to die soon, they prefer to stay with their loved ones or do the things they wanted to for a while rather than stopping at the graveyard.
"Let me do this", snatching the keys from Ellen's hands he unlocked the door and walked inside with her.
Now he thought to finish this by writing her name as she had already known that she would die.
He was walking behind the girl who was stumbling on her way to the living room. Again she tripped and before she could land on the floor grim, subconsciously, jogged forward. Wrapping his arm around her slim waist, he held onto her waist tight in the place that anyone watching the scene would've thought of it a romantic movie playing. Their eyes locked with grim's hot breath fanning over Ellen's face. Ellen was looking blankly at the face of a grim reaper who was thinking to write her name and finish this, once and for all.
"Sowy", with a sound of a burp Ellen placed her hand to cover her mouth. Grim took her hand off from his other hand and leaned in.
Close and closer. Close enough for their lips to be inches apart.
Close enough for their breaths to be fanning over each other's faces.
Close enough for grim to stare through her eyes, deep into her soul.
Close enough to lean in an inch and would have their lips pressed.
