After showing up Mrs.Benson her appearance in the place, Ellen went back to her regular work. Since she had skipped a day yesterday, there were a lot of books messed up in different sections and over the tables to put back to their right places on the shelves. Mrs.Benson uttered six words of sentence for the girl when she told her the reason she was absent, 'May her soul rests in heavens'.
Collecting condolences was what Ellen hated with all her heart. People never meant any of the words they said in times like this. It had just become a custom to them to show fake tears and solaces to the deceased families even when they didn't care at all. Would they come back and ask how the family was doing after the loss? No. Would they offer them their shoulder to cry on? No. Would they offer themselves to be relied on during the tough times? No. A phony world where humans were living.
