"It's the longest he has ever stayed on earth", the spirit of air addressed the spirit of hope who went there after grim flew back to earth.
"He's enjoying his stay more than all other times I guess", keeping the gaze on the blossomed flowers that the goddess of flower had sowed in the garden with love and care, Jeremy responded. He had always loved being around nature, especially flowers.
"Any particular reason?", the spirit of air believed that he couldn't get any information on grim from anyone besides Jeremy because he was with grim all the time.
"I actually don't know. You know it's very difficult, in fact, impossible to reach his thoughts", placing the palms on his knees, the spirit of hope bent over the flowers and inhaled their fragrance. The flowers of the realm had let the air taken their fragrance and spread it in all the surroundings. The fragrance of newly bloomed flowers mixed with the calm air of the realm, oh so rejuvenating for body and mind. That was the beauty of two elements of nature working in synchronization. Putting a pause to everything for a moment, standing still and letting the aromatic air enter your body, certainly a soul-refreshing experience that people on earth had always taken for granted and stayed busy in their boring, colourless and unscented lives.
"How do you spend your time on earth?", the spirit of air inquired. It seemed odd to him that not that grim only stayed among what-he-believe low lives for this long but also somewhat appeared hurry to fly back. What made the spirit of air think that grim was rushing to leave was because of him leaving without meeting Catherine. It wasn't that he cared about the goddess of love, if anything he was only having pleasure with her. And that was exactly what bothered the spirit of the air. Wasn't grim sexually needy?
"Movies. I suggest you watch them, Ian. Especially those romantic ones. I bet they will have you bawling your eyes out. Humans are ace in acting. How do they make things which are unreal and fake look so real that the people forget about the real-life around them and get immer-", the spirit of air interrupted him before he could continue any more.
"Tell me about grim, Jeremy. What are his activities on earth?", the spirit of air didn't call the spirit of hope for entertaining him about his life on earth. If anyone, he needed information on grim.
"I'm sorry Ian but I'm not in a position to talk on his back, report you about his doings on earth if I say it more accurately", the spirit of hope leaned back and stood in the upright posture.
When the spirit of air summoned him out of the blue, he knew that it had something to do with grim. One thing he also knew for the fact that grim had a self-reliant and unrestricted personality. He would never work under someone even if the someone was a king of any realm. Furthermore, grim also didn't like it when others interfere in his life. Telling on his activities on earth to the spirit of air would have him infuriated.
"Would you rather choose to stay silent if it was a matter of his safety?", the spirit of air inquired Jeremy who apparently understood what Ian was referring to. The demon who was capable of killing the entire city in one night being out down on earth and grim also there, away from powerful spirits. Despite enjoying the movies, Jeremy wasn't also relieved with the current situation. Could he do anything about it? No. He couldn't force grim to return to the realm of skies.
"I cannot say much, Ian. He really doesn't do anything. Just always around Ellen", Jeremy replied looking over the shoulder of Ian. The goddess of flowers was approaching them.
"Ellen?", Ian asked, thinking about where he heard the name before.
"Yeah the girl he is assigned to write the name in the Death Note", giving an answer to Ian's vague thought, Jeremy smiled at the goddess who was now standing next to the spirit of the air.
"Cora, the flowers have bloomed beautifully", the goddess of flowers smiled back at the spirit of hope.
"I need you to report to me everything about the girl. Even the minor details have been ordered to collect", Ian thought for a moment. Grim lingering around a mortal didn't sound real to his ears. He wouldn't rush to form a conclusion that exclusively relied on mere assumptions and incomplete pieces of information. To provoke an undesirable action, he needed factual information and for that, he would wait for Jeremy's findings.
"I don't think he would be happy knowing you've asked me to investigate on Ellen", Jeremy sounded displeased with the order.
"Do as I said. I'll deal with the rest", decreeing the last words, the spirit of air walked off.
"Is there anything going on we should know about?", sensing the unprecedented tension in the air, the goddess of flowers raised a question.
"I just signed myself up for a real shit this time."
If grim learned about what Jeremy had accepted to carry out, the sky not falling would be a miracle. Jeremy could only hope that it was for the best of the latter.
.....
Meanwhile, on earth, Ellen had finished arranging most of the books in order since she had worked late last night and there wasn't so much to do today. She walked stealthily towards Mrs. Benson's office and sneaked a peek inside. Once confirmed that the boss was on a voice call, she headed towards the last shelf and sat down on the wooden floor. Fishing the phone out of her pocket, she typed a word in the search bar.
"Underworld."
She had barely written a few chapters of her book on Webnovel. Now that she had free time, she would do some research before continuing writing there since she didn't have a handful of information on the Underworld.
While browsing through some articles on the internet she clicked on one link and started reading. When she reached the bottom of the web page, she was about to swipe to the previous screen when her eyes momentarily paused on a title.
"Underworld and Demons."
She tapped on the link and started reading the article. In the list of relevant topics to the right side of the page, she found a title that pulled her out of the world she was slowly but surely getting lost in and grabbed all of her attention and interest in less than a second.
"How do Demons smell?"
Her finger touched on the link that directed her to another web page where the first two lines sent cold shivers to her spine.
"I've not happened to smell a demon but there are tales of sulfur approximately associated with them. However, some powerful demons are supposed to have an aromatic scent. The strange type of aromatic. It gives you a spine-chilling wave rushing to your spine. No wonder the darkness and strengths they're believed to possess along with being capable of overpowering humans must work great at releasing the adrenaline rush in your blood."
She stopped the reading there. Why did the description of the smell of demons seem similar to the scene she had been through last night? Needless to say, everything written in the article wasn't confirmed with an authentic resource, neither witnessed and encountered personally, the more she thought about last night, the more the scene appeared identical to the article.
Grim said there wasn't anyone in there but she didn't believe him.
She could've misinterpreted someone's presence in the dark but smelling the imaginary spine-chilling scent? No. She was certain that someone was present there.
"Do demons live among us?"
