Chapter 1 - 01 || Death Machine

[MONDAY]

"Sweety, time to get up." I heard my mother's voice at the back of my head while being shaken uncontrollably.

Coming out of my deep sleep while yawning unattractively, I opened my eyes to find her sitting on the edge of my bed. For a second I'm left wondering why she's all dressed up formally but it didn't take that long to realise what today was.

Today's the day. Ten days since my parents' divorce got finalised, four days since we moved here and the first day at my new school.

"Mom stop." I groaned closing my head with my favorite fluffy, neon pink blanket.

For the past few days, I've been having mixed feelings about this day. Sometimes when I thought about it, I got excited and sometimes I got nervous. Now that the day is finally here, I'm wondering how the hell I'm supposed to make new friends and fit in when I'm the new kid? It can't be that hard right?

"Emma I swear on your grandmother's grave. If you don't get your ass out of bed, I'll drag you out by your hair." My mother warned and I'm pretty certain that she means it.

That's why I reluctantly sit up with a loud over exaggerated groan. By the look on her face, I could tell that she also thought that it was a bit over dramatic.

"Fine." I pouted.

"You'll be fine." She grinned kissing my forehead. "Now get up." She sternly warned again before getting up to leave my room.

I'm pretty sure that I'll be fine, how hard is it to make a few friends right? I got Olivia too if I end up not making any friends.

Before getting up, I gazed around my new room. Pastel purple painted walls with a white painted ceiling. White and purple curtains framing the window and opposite my bed, a white door leading to a walk in closet. Next to the door is a floor length mirror along with a dresser filled with unorganized make-up, jewelry and other junk every other seventeen year old girl owns. I like to think of myself as any other typical teenager in the world.

Finally making my way to the bathroom, I smelled the bacon and eggs mother was making downstairs so I hurriedly did my morning routine with a growling stomach. Going back to my room with a towel wrapped around my body, I scanned the neatly packed closet. I grabbed some clothes to wear and got dressed as fast as I could. I stood in front of the mirror when I finished, scanning my outfit. I found myself standing in front of the mirror when mother called up to me again but I ignored her. I decided to wear a smoked puff sleeve ruffle crop blouse and a frayed ripped denim shorts. One of the perks of this new city is the weather, it's warm almost throughout the year.

"Finally." My mother sighed with a smirk when she put a plate of bacon and eggs on the island in front of me. "Are you excited for your first day?" she asked sitting next to me on the bar stools.

"No." I scoffed. "But according to your outfit, I'd say that you sure are excited for your first day at your new firm." I smirked.

She was wearing a white buttoned up shirt with a black pencil skirt. Her hair was already neatly combed back into a long blond ponytail. Unlike my pitch black hair that was uncombed and sticky from sleeping without a hair tie. I never learn my lesson do I?

"This is how I always dress to work." She shrugged. "Your outfit says that you're ready to make new friends. It's a bit revealing don't you think?" She added scanning my outfit.

Mother likes to act like the type of mother who tells me what to wear but she's not. She would comment on my attire quite often but she wouldn't force me to change.

"This is how I always dress to school." I answered rolling my eyes.

"Well if you don't want to be late missy, you better hurry up." She scolded getting up to wash the plates I'm guessing.

Sighing I got up with a pout before heading back to my room to brush my hair and add some make-up. I decided to let my waist length length hair hang loose and only added some lip gloss and eye pencil. Thanks to lots and lots of water, my face is already clear and glowing. I'll recommend it to the whole world.

"Maybe next time if you wake up earlier and stop pouting, you can finish your breakfast properly." Mother clicked her tongue shaking her head when I made my way back downstairs.

So much for finishing my egg.

"I love you too mom." I rolled my eyes with a giggle. "Have a great first day." I added before heading out the front door.

"You too sweety!" I heard her call out before I made my way across the street to the bright yellow house with a flower filled lawn. My aunt's creation.

"Oh hey you here. I was just about to come and get you." My cousin, Olivia grinned when she opened the front door before I could even knock.

Olivia looked nothing like her mother and more like her deadbeat father who we've never even met.

She was bronzed skinned with black shoulder length hair. She was tall and model quality but don't tell her that. Her striped belted wide leg romper showed off her long flawless legs.

"Is your mom inside?" I asked peeking into the house before being shoved by Olivia.

"She's already at the shop." She answered when I gave her a questioning look.

Aunt Ava owned a cute garden tool shop that she started with my late grandmother. It is also where mother hates going.

"So are you excited for your first day of school?" She giggled when we were safely strapped in her BMW.

Unlike me, Olivia has her license to drive and also owned our late grandpa's car. I hate driving a car by myself, it's creepy and nerve wreaking.

"Nope." I lied.

To be completely honest, I was kind of nervous. The fact that everyone would stare at me like I'm a alien from out of space, freaks me out more than seeing fat men in speedo shorts.

"Oh well, there's no need to worry. I'll be there for you throughout our highschool experience." She grinned.

"Where were you during my first three years of high school?" I joked.

"Well I'm here now, so there's no need to feel nervous." She stated. "I don't know everyone but I do know of everyone." She added shooting me a wink as she parked the car.

The school is close to our house which is why I don't really understand why Olivia drives to school when we could've just took a walk.

"So you're one of those huh?" I smirked as I got out of the passenger seat.

Before she could reply, before I could even comprehend what was happening, a loud motorcycle parked in the parking space next to ours nearly hitting me. I even felt the wind of the thing when it passed me making me jump and my back hit hard against the passenger seat's door, closing it with a loud thud. I watched dumbfounded as the driver of the death machine stop the bike and throw his long leg over the bike to get off.
