"Return her," comes another voice as another one of these deathly, visionless creatures appear beside Valerian. Slowly, it makes a move towards me, its hands outstretched like a zombie crawling up from the grave. "Give back what you stole. She shall not escape again."
Escape again? I think desperately to myself, my fingers tightening around Alastor as the creature strains its hand out towards me. Escape from my mother, maybe? From the Upper Realm? What does it mean?
"Give her back," the other creature repeats with a whining screech, its teeth gnashing the air before us as Valerian wrestles to hold it in place. But it is all becoming too much.
