"Get out, get out," I whimper, but my tears only serve to add more fuel to the fire as the heat around me becomes almost unbearable, my skin prickling as shards of fire continue to rise off of me.
But the voice only keeps on laughing. On and on goes that cold, dithering laughter until it becomes an endless drone of an icy symphony, tearing at my thoughts and emotions until all that is left is fear.
Why is she in my head?
But just as I am on the brink of collapse, another presence sparks itself into my vicinity, a cold darkness that stands to chill the blazing heat inside my veins. I can feel it, slow and careful as it wades itself through the bubble of flames around me. Deciding to focus on this, I take a few deep breaths, relishing the cold against the heat of my flames, and listen.
