The world watches in silence as the rifts converge into a single entity. The air and ground trembled at the mana leaking from the birth of a new wormhole. The newly combined rift started out medium in size like a B-ranked rift but quickly grew and expanded in size
After a couple of minutes, the rift slowly stabilizes and the air/ground stops shaking
The rift was now in full view of the drone
To say that it was massive is an understatement …the rift now towered over some of the high-rises and had swallowed much of the construction site and parts of an apartment block
There was no doubt about it..
It was an A-Ranked rift!
Viewers watching around the world shuddered and gulp a huge breath of air

Moments ago Alex was pounding the tables and cheering loudly. But now he had a terrified and nervous look on his face. In fact, all the celebrations in the dining hall turned into worries

It was the HOA's failure to conquer the last A-ranked rift two years ago, that made viewers full of fear
The rift in Megalopolis 6 went critical after the failed attempt and unleashed a group of Balrogs!
Balrogs, colossal and powerful fire demons, were the masters of flame magic. They ravaged the capital city of Megalopolis 6
Hundreds of thousands of people were killed, and many high-ranked hunters were slain. It was a big catastrophe and a huge miscalculation from the HOA. It took multiple slayer squads from different Mega Corps to finally put the Balrogs down
After the incident, the HOA lost a lot of credibility. Many hunters left the HOA and signed with the Mega Corps instead
Jin looked over at Alex who was on the ground praying then returns his attention to the screen
'I heard about rifts and monsters before but never paid it any attention…I wonder what I would do if I came face to face with a monster…'
Back at the A-ranked rift…
Lyna stood still on top of a nearby highrise and took off her mask. Her beautiful pink pupils matched her rosy lips. Her focus was concentrated on the rift
Suddenly a giant rat head attached to a long furry neck pops out from the rift…
Then another wiggles out..
And another..
And another..
The video zooms out and viewers watched in terror as the creature reveals itself…
"W-W-WHAT. T-T-THE. FUCK. WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT THING?!?!" The reporter choking on his words
That thing in question is a Rat Hydra. A foul and grotesque beast with five long rat heads attached to a gigantic rat body. Its four muscular limbs were the size of small buildings(six stories tall)
Fused to the back of the Rat Hydra is the Rat Shaman that Frankenstein the monstrosity. The Rat Shaman was in a zombie-like state. His body and mind were no longer his but the beast's
Without a second to think, the Rat Hydra charged at Lyna like a rabid dog. The rats' heads came at her one by one from multiple directions
BOOOOM!! BOOOOM!! BOOOOM!! BOOOOM!!BOOOOM!!
The Rat Hydra's attacks leveled the high rise she stood on
But Lyna had seemingly vanished into thin air then reappeared on top of another nearby building
Her spine, from the cervical all the way to the sacrum, was now fully glowing bright pink through her lightweight armor
Instantly the creature felt a sharp pain coming from one of his heads and let out a hideous cry
SKREEEEE!!!!!
THUUD!!
One of the five huge rat heads was sliced cleanly and fell onto the streets
The drone caught all the action and the reporter was ecstatic
"A-A-A FLURRY OF RAT HEADS CHARGED AT SLAYER LYNA!! SHE DODGES THE BARRAGE OF ATTACKS AND EVEN MANAGED TO CUT DOWN A HEAD!!!"
Realizing the injury to one of his heads, the Rat Hydra manipulates the mind of the Rat shaman and forced it to cast an ability
The twisted body of the Rat shaman invoked a magic curse in an unknown language
"PPLLLAAAAGGGGGGAAAAAASSSS!!"
The four remaining rats' heads of the Hydra immediately started spewing green toxic flumes from their razor-sharp mouths concealing its body from sight
The gas covered a wide area, the whole residential block, which forced Lyna to retreat even further back
Living up to its name, when the creature was hidden, the rat head that had been cut off, now regenerated into two new rat heads. The new heads were also similar in size to the other heads
Seconds later, the Hydra charged toward her again. Its gigantic body knocked over some small buildings on the way over
Lyna instantly dodges this attack as well however she did not counter with an attack of her own this time
'This monster is somewhat intelligent, hiding itself to regenerate….It's probably not a good idea to hurt it only for it to regenerate and become more powerful…' she thought as she dodges to another nearby building
'I need to quickly bring this monster down before it causes any more destruction to the city..the outskirts of KonHall is evacuated which means I can go all out!'
Then the Hydra manipulates the Shaman to invoke yet another curse
"RRRAAAAUGGGHHHHMAAAA"
A huge mana circle encircles the high-rise that Lyna stood on. Tremendous pressure squeezed the building, causing the walls to crack and break
!!
'It's trying to suppress my moments?!'
The Hydra plows through the streets and went on an assault on Lyna yet again. Considering the size of the Hydra, it was fairly agile and quick
The binding curse had stopped her movements for just a second but that was enough
'Tch! I don't have time to dodge this one!'
Lyna braced herself against the incoming attack. One of the rat heads smacked her body sending her flying into another building
BOOOM!!BOOOOM!!
Dust and debris rained from the huge hole caused by the attack but from it, four throwing knives flew out and easily inserted themselves into the Hydra
The knives were all different and lethal edged but they didn't cut through the beast
Long chains made of mana emerge from where the blades made the slit. Then they wrapped around the Hydra, restricting its movement
