Having entered {Silver Moon City}, Aidan, carried by Gana, finally had the chance to appreciate his surroundings as he looked out in awe. He could see it all, grand silver towers that pierced the sky, white pearly streets that carried the races of all shapes and sizes, swift interstellar ships periodically flashing above him and finally the pressuring, majestic aura that bore down on his feeble body.
Blinded by the majesty of it all, he had only one word to say about it.
"Amazing…"
Aidan had lived within the middle of the forest for as long as he remembered, anything that had to do with a city or town would be taken care of by either his parents or their good friends they keep in touch with, Gana and Hana. It was of no surprise that such a sight, compared to the one he was used to, had blown his undeveloped mind to ridiculous proportions.
Gana, watching him at the corner of her eye, grinned with playfulness. She opened her mouth and voiced her thoughts.
"Wow, would'ya look at that, ya look exactly like a country bumpkin. Hell, yer shocked stupid. Not that it was any different from before, though."
Feeling a rise to do battle, she cheekily cursed at the boy without a hint of consideration nor the responsibility of an adult. Unfortunately, however, it seemed her words would hit a wall as Aidan was truly shocked stupid. His brain was processing at high speed in order to take in all the information around him, so he had no time to pay attention to an attention-seeking monkey!
Taken aback, Gana stopped and stared at the boy, worried that she may have broken him by squeezing him too much during their 'escape'. After all, he never passes up a fight! Especially so for arguments! Immediately, her aura turned a gentle green as it covered her body in its entirety, giving her a vague visage of an Earth Goddess.
[Inspect]
She carefully inspected Aidan that was hanging from her bulky arm, sensing whether he had injuries. Fortunately, with her magic, she found nothing. Just a boy whose brain was blown away.
Sighing, she placed Aidan down and turned to look at his dazed face. It was extremely irritating for her that she would be ignored by the little runt, so she felt needed to take his mind off the city so he could fight her! Thinking along those lines, she began searching her surroundings.
If anyone were to hear her thoughts, however, they would think she was just feeling lonely.
She looked around her surroundings only to turn her gaze to the stalls that laced both sides of the pearly streets. She knew, at some point, they had entered the Trading District of the city. She kept searching around to somehow snap him out of his stupor but found nothing but a bunch of food stalls and one book stall…
'Hmm… Book stall… Districts… That's it!'
It finally clicked in her head.
'If he had some understanding of the city, then surely he will wake up and start talki- I mean… start a fight!'
With this thought in mind, she immediately walked towards the book stall and purchased a book dubbed, 'The Guide of {Silver Moon}: The six major districts and the unspoken seventh!'. Certainly, with the black leather wrapping around and a gold inscription it was an eye-catching book.
Without further ado, Gana immediately held the book over a slick silver band wrapped around her forearm. Then, shockingly, in the next movement the book that was in her hand disappeared with a flash of blue light. Gana, without batting an eye to this phenomenon , had a look of satisfaction made her way back to Aidan.
"Hey little shit, do ya want to know more about this city? Of its districts? Then listen to yer' grandmother for a second."
She smugly relayed her thoughts to the silent boy, who turned to look at her. Seeing that that bait had snagged a catch, she began to reel in.
"Oh~? Ya want to hear about the districts? No choice then! I AM a responsible adult after all~."
Any person who heard her words slightly cringed from her lack of shame. Who would blatantly tell a kid that they were a responsible adult?!
Not minding the weird looks that she had garnered, Gana began relaying the information from the book to the boy in another plane.
There were six major districts within {Silver Moon City} that govern different types of expertise and goods:
The Magitech District; the region within the outer ring west of the city. This is where most Magitech research occurs. Any inventions or equipment that combine Magic and Technology could be found here and is also considered as the place where most of the Interstellar ships hang around for either repairs or imports and exports.
The Trading District; located within the outer ring, north of the city. The is considered as the liveliest part of the city since it is close to the main gate and [Teleport] formations. Many people would come here to either buy or sell, setting up stalls to help advertise their wares. One could even rent certain plots to set up whole stores and it is often found that store owners are a lot more credible than stall owners. There are even rumors saying that anything you need could be found in the Trading District, but proving this rumor is another matter.
The Noble District; this district resides within the inner ring of the city. This is where the highest class of citizens reside. Not many people enjoy the privilege of being considered as a valuable citizen for the city, so they are often revered and feared. No one without special permission could enter this district.
The Commoner District; located within the outer ring, where the east gate of the city resides. If the Trading District was the liveliest, then this is the biggest. This is where 80% of the populace live. Hotels, apartments, offices, anything you could think of in terms of poor to middle class citizens is here. This is also the place where most crime takes place due to the lack of security.
The Crafting District; located a district that is pretty self-explanatory. This is the place where numerous individuals with different non-combat [Classes] reside. They are specialists that craft either weapons or various trinkets that improve daily life. They often work hand-to-hand with the Trading and Magitech district.
And finally, the Military District located near the Noble District in the inner city. It is the most respected out of all the districts as it contains all military operations and personal under House Portia. This is also the place that contains the most prestigious schools for newly [Awakened] children of Avion. It is often considered to be the place where most parents wish their children to enter since graduating from one of those schools guarantees honor and success.
At this point in time, Gana was not paying attention to Aidan as she tried to summarize the city as much as possible, overclocking her brain. She wasn't very smart so it was already impressive that she had summarized the city without leaving the important bits out. But as she was destroying braincells, Aidan had long since came to and began pondering about the contents of the book.
"The 'last' district, or the seventh district, is the Royal District that houses the family members of House Portia. It is located within the center ring, beyond the inner ring wall. Apparently the castle they live in floats in mid air through the use of Magitech and it makes use of some recent technology or whatever."
She continued.
"But because no one goes there, the citizens of Avion don't consider the Royal District as a district, but just where the rulers live. Or some weird shit like that."
Having to use way less of her brain now, she had long noticed Aidan standing there with twinkling eyes. After concluding the summarized version of the guide, she once again picked Aidan up with an arm and began walking. She looked at his startled and pissed off expression and smiled.
"Oh yer' back. How was Lala Land? Did ya see my ma' there?"
"NO and don't even think about getting away with what you said earlier!"
"Oh? Ya didn't appreciate my teachings? Heh, children, ya can never satisfy them."
"BEFORE THAT!"
"What are ya talking about~."
Once again, they began bickering like children, flinging insults at one another incredibly quickly with many stopping to watch them in amusement. After all, a large woman, carrying a red feathered boy like a chicken, continued to walk casually as she flung a string of insults as naturally as she breathes. But what was even more shocking was the boy who matched her in prowess, which further added into the strangeness of this scene. Yet neither Ape nor Chicken cared about their surroundings, continuing to curse up a storm as if there was no tomorrow.
This went on for a while as Gana walked on the pearly streets, ignoring anyone giving them weird looks. In front of them, by the side of the road, a crowd of people could be seen surrounding to what looks like to be a shooting range. Watching her expression, Aidan had a bad feeling about something.
Before he could say anything however, Gana spoke up.
"AHHHHH, I need to let out some steam. That book gave me a headache."
"Yeah, cause you're an idi-"
*SMACK*
"OW! What did you do that for!?"
"Haah?! Yer' one helluva runt to try calling an adult an idiot!"
"But you are an-"
*SMACK*
Before Aidan could finish his sentence, he was smacked at the back of the head once again. Each hit felt like he was smacked by a hammer as sense of rage began bubbling up inside him each time. In his fury, he looked up to Gana and, with a tone filled with spite, said.
"You said you wanted to let out some steam. What did you have in mind?"
Gana, having set up the bait, smiled with devilish smirk.
"How about a competition on that shooting range there? Wer' waiting on yer' System to pop up so might as well play a little bit."
Aidan, without realizing that he fell into her scheme, smiled wide, revealing his razor-sharp teeth that made many onlookers jump in fright. How could a cute kid look so scary after smiling?!
"Alright! What are the stakes?"
'Got him'
The bait was snagged, all she needed to do was reel it in and claim her prize. She had already begun thinking about all sorts of things she's going to make him do.
"The winner of the competition will haf' to be on the beck and call of the other for an entire month, all orders must be completed by the loser. As long as it doesn't go too far of course."
"You're on"
Even though he felt something strange with her smile, he gritted his teeth and chose to participate in this 'competition'. If it were a real fight, a person like him would just get smashed by someone who had already awakened their System and obtained their class a long time ago. However, if it was just a test of skill, then he at least had the chance of winning. Knowing what Aidan was thinking, Gana inwardly started to chuckle.
'Naïve! I had been in the army for a long time during my early days and shooting was one of my strong points! Ma' taught me well after all. I guess a haf' to teach this boy a lesson, never bite off more than ya could chew.'
Having these thoughts, Gana put Aidan down and lead him to the stall where a crowd gathered. Pushing their way through, they finally managed to reach the front of the stall where they could see a man behind the front counter. He was a rough looking man with a large scar going across his face, Gana guessed he was ex-military. Seeing the duo walked up, a short rough voice escaped his lips.
"Shooting or Archery."
Gana smiled, opening her mouth to finally seal the deal.
"Shoo-"
"Archery"
Before she could finish her sentence, Aidan suddenly caught her off. She turned to him and saw him pay the ex-militant the necessary amount of Lun, the currency of Aivon, before turning to her and smiling devilishly.
"Shall we?"
