Hello! First of all, I would like to thank you for choosing to read this book.

A few things you should know before you begin:

1. This book is set in the Victorian era, but some details may be historically inaccurate. (keep in mind that it's a fantasy as well)

2. The male lead is an A-class schemer and manipulator. The female lead is innately brave and can stand her ground but, would still undergo major character development to emerge stronger. (And, no, the male lead is not an insufferable toxic brat. He may have his *ahem* moments, but, what's fiction without a bit of fun ;) )

3. I love dark settings- like, literally dark (storm, clouds, rain, gothic mysterious castles, etc.) so expect to find much of that in the book.

4. While love at first sight is not something I believe in, for our male lead, it's more of an amusement at first sight. He has a super boring existence (lol) so when he meets the female lead, who somehow amuses him to no end, he doesn't want to let her go.

5. Lastly, this is my first book on Webnovel so I'm not sure about the major tropes to avoid here but, in this novel, you won't find: any major misunderstandings, non-consensual activities and uh, dumb (?) characters (except the villains, of course).
