Alex could hear his heart thumping loudly and his ear was throbbing with pain. Fear gripped him tightly as the woman who was standing in front of him fell slowly as if the world had slowed down around him. Before her body managed to land on the ground, Alex wrapped his arms around her. He lifted her and ran back to the car, barely avoiding the bullets that were ripping through the air. "Damn it!" he exclaimed before quickly speeding off, back to the closest safe house.
Despite the car chase going on, Alex managed to glance at the injured woman sitting next to him, still unconscious. He was getting restless when he realized he couldn't lose the cars following closely behind. "Ava! I need you to wake up! Please!" he reached over to the passenger seat and grabbed her arm to wake her up. After shouting as loud as he can, she finally regained her consciousness. "What's going on?"
"This is going to hurt like hell but it's the only way we'll be able to live."
