9 and 3/4 the ticket said, Jughead had no idea what that meant. He followed a guy with red hair almost his age. Jughead was a pretty adventurous boy, so he followed the guy and ran into a wall. Surprisingly nothing happened. He just got on the train and looked for a compartment, he saw two girls and boy in it.
"Can I sit here?" he asked.
"Yeah, sure." The three of them replied at once.
"I'm Jughead."
The girl chuckled, "Hi, I'm Betty Cooper." Just then a girl with bushy brown hair knocked in. "I'm Cheryl Blossom," she announced.
"Good for you," said a red hair guy sitting at a corner. "Jughead Riddle Jones, yes I know Mr. Tom's Son, red hair you must be Andrew, Veronica Lodge and this is Betty Cooper I guess the Cooper's followed me everywhere.
Nice to meet you all, but I must go and spread the word that Jughead Riddle is on this train," said Cheryl and with that, walked away.
"Have fun doing that!" Veronica called after her.
"You're really sarcastic are you?"
"Yeah, where I grew up, sarcasm was the only thing I had. And not really because I didn't get food when I was sarcastic."
"Hey, Ronnie."
There were twins at the door.
"Listen, we're going down the middle of the train, and try to make it explode,"
"Right," mumbled Veronica.
"Jughead," said the other twin, "did we introduce ourselves? George and Fred--
"No! It's Fred and George-"
"Ugh for the last time- you know what we'll discuss this later, And this is Ronnie, our sister. See you later, then."
Then both left and Jughead could hear them tripping kids on the way.
"Can you remember anything about You-Know-Who -- ?" asked curious Veronica.
"Yes," said Jughead, "I-I meant not really."
"Nothing?" said Veronica eagerly.
"Well -- I remember a lot of green light, but nothing else."
"Wow," said Betty.
Veronica sat and stared at Jughead for a few moments, then, as though she had suddenly realized what she was doing, she looked quickly out of the window again.
"Are all your family wizards?" asked Jughead, who found Veronica just as interesting as she found him.
"Yeah," said Veronica.
"So you must know loads of magic already."
"I heard you went to live with Serpents," said Betty. "What are they like?"
"Horrible -- well, not all of them. My aunt and uncle and cousin are, though. Wish I'd had three wizard siblings."
"Eight," said Veronica. For some reason, she was looking gloomy. "I'm the seventh. You could say I've got a lot to live up to. Clary and Jace Wonderland-- I mean Jace, have already left -- Alec was head boy and Lizzy is Quidditch Team Captain. Now Stefan's a prefect. Fred and George mess around a lot, but they still get really good marks and everyone thinks they're really funny. Everyone expects me to do as well as the others, but if I do, it's no big deal, because they did it first. But Lodge family is very rich, so I get new things, I got new robes and wand, but this is Alec's old rat."
"Okay, am going to change into uniform." Betty leaved them to change her clothes or she was just bored after listening to Veronica family background.
Veronica reached inside her jacket and pulled out a fat grey rat, which was asleep.
"His name's Princess and he's useless, he hardly ever wakes up. Alec got an owl from my dad for being made a prefect, so got I, Princess, instead. And thanks to Fred he suggested this name and my dad agreed to it. Anyway what did happen to your parents?"
"I- well- I thought that they died in a car crash up until know. But my mom is dead and my dad is... you know Voldemort-"
Veronica gasped.
"What?" said Jughead.
"You said You-Know-Who's name!" said Veronica, sounding both shocked and impressed. "I'd have thought you, of all people-- I guess you're allowed to since you're his Son..."
"I'm not his son and am not trying to be brave or anything, saying the name," said Jughead, "I just never knew you shouldn't. See what I mean? I've got loads to learn... I bet," he added, voicing for the first time something that had been worrying him a lot lately, "I bet I'm the worst in the class."
"You won't be. There are loads of people who come from Serpents families and they learn quick enough." Betty said as she re-entered.
While they had been talking, the train had carried them out of London. Now they were speeding past fields full of cows and sheep. They were quiet for a time, watching the fields and lanes flick past.
