Chapter 99 - Chapter 99:

Vicky is so engrossed in the film that she forgot to eat her breakfast. Hon, eat, your bread’s going to get cold, hihi!, I said scraping the jelly off my finger while eating the last bite of my bread. Vicky smiled and I knew she loves the film. She came up to me all of a sudden and licked my finger with jelly and bit it a little causing me to flinch with pleasure. Ahh!, Vicky, mwah!, then I snatched a kiss from her lips and she escaped from my grasp. She ran and looked at me again as if teasing me to come after her upstairs. Now we are in our bedroom, so, now what?, I told myself waiting for her response. Vicky laid on the bed without saying a word just laughing, teasing me again. She pointed her pointy finger up and invited me to join her in the bed. Oh, my God!, here we go again, I love her so much!, I thought looking at my girl with desire and trying to stop my heart from beating fast like I was running a race that haven’t been won yet, not yet. I think I might be needing vitamins to keep up with my darling Vicky, hehe!

Sam was with his friends at the base when his arch enemy Julio overheard when he was talking about Vicky, the soldier that was reported MIA a decade ago. So you found that girl?, Julio asked with his Scottish accent. Don’t you mind!, why do you a Mexican name for a Scottish national?, Dan answered and tapped Sam to forget the prick. Well, my mum is a Mexican so…what does it mattur?, And I’m not talkin’ to yu!, Julio insisted. Alright, mates, I am still your First line in command, so, better get going !, Julio, Dan, scotch, I need to speak to Sam about something!, Sergeant Tyler said bossing the mates to get out of the room. Which the boys did and Julio still eyeing Sam as he closed the door behind him. Haaay!, Those fellows aren’t having a good time without bothering you, huh?, Anyway, about the soldier you’re asking me about.

Yeah, what about her?, Sam suddenly became interested with the topic.

She was deployed to Iraq 20 years ago but her aircraft was shot down by a civilian bomber. However, her body wasn’t found in the burned jet fighter. So the Navy believes she was just MIA and still hoping for her to return one day. But her family received her medal of Valor and the money the government gave for her bravery. You told me that you saw her, right!, Sergeant explained and asked a bit interested in Sam’s story. I’m sorry, maybe, I was mistaken. Maybe if she’s still alive now. She would be about my mom’s age. I bet I was wrong to impose and opened her case that long been closed, Sam added feeling confused but sorry at the same time. Vittoria or Vicky as we call her was really missed. I was about her age, like in my twenties when I joined the Navy, and she’s the only girl who got qualified to fly the jetfighter in the air force. I was just a wingman then, but I missed her, she was my best friend, though we were on a different field and service.

Then, I was right to have asked you about her, thank you for your help Sergeant. I better be going now or my mates would be harboring wrong notions if you play favorites, haha!, Sam said laughing a bit. Aha!, you, my fave, no way, I hated your guts, so, tell them there’s nothing to worry about!, Sergeant tapped my head and smiled, then he went on ahead of me. I was left in awe. I couldn’t believe that after all these years I would be seeing my hero. I really loved her and when she died I really cried and moped in my room for weeks. Until mom gave me her signed pictured which was sold at the Navy base then, when the war was still going on. Haaaa!, I hope that I’m mistaken but if I’m not, then thank God she’s still alive and well today, Sam told himself catching a huge breath after finishing his coffee at the pantry.
