A month had passed since Jay had arrived in that odd world and both him and Shade had improved a great deal. The training mainly consisted of dieting, studying, running, hurdle-jumping, dodging, hunting, and how to better use his ability. Thanks to this practice Jay became able to stand in a shadow without disconnecting or being seen. Shade had upgraded in terms of helpfulness, he answered all my questions and gave valuable advice. Thanks to him I was able to cheat a bit in my studying. The night sky seemed more beautiful after I had trained a great deal, maybe it was because it meant no more training for the day but still it made the ending all the better. Hunting was fun until I encountered stronger enemies, Ace and Jasmine were still with me so I wouldn´t die but they did not help unless I was facing an opponent I absolutely couldn't win against. I caught a rabbit while hunting once and named it Robin. Later at dinner when we were eating braised rabbit I realised Robin was gone. I will admit I shed a few tears at the death of Robin. After that I didn't catch any more animals that would go into dinner. Hurdles were shockingly enjoyable, except for when I didn't make it and fell on my face. A couple of crash courses in geography and law I had become proficient in the world with the use of shade remembering everything he hears.
´...ake up!´
´Wake up!´
¨I´m up! Oh… It's just you Shade… In that case i'm going to catch some more sleep...¨
Jay wrapped himself tight in the blankets and turned to sleep longer when an arm yanked the blanket off.
¨Hey! I was using that! Huh? Am I still dreaming?¨
A gorgeous woman with long silky black hair, a black sweatshirt, and a split black and grey collared shirt stood above his bed. Her eyes were silver but she still looked prettier than a model.
¨Huh?! Wait who are you?¨
´Shh… No need to worry… You´ll find out soon...´
The woman put a long delicate finger to his lips to silence him before leaning in to whisper something in his ear.
´In your dreams...´
¨Huh?¨
Jay went to look at the woman and find out what she meant but when he looked she was gone and instead a child wearing the same clothes as her was floating in a crisscross position in the middle of the room.
¨Wait… Shade?¨
´Haha you should have seen your face when I was a girl! Priceless!´
¨Since when have you been able to transform into people?!¨
´Recently actually.´
Jay looked the boy up and down from his black sneakers, black shorts, sweatshirt, to his jet black hair and silver eyes with disbelief that he was the stunning woman.
´Shocking right? Awhile ago I could only turn into small things, now I can turn into people.´
¨Since when did you know how to play a joke on someone or talk with excitement?¨
´I assume it's because i've been around people for longer and you´ve been utilising me more. Can I have some gum?´
Jay handed over a stick of gum from the pack on his nightstand. Jay watched Shade blow a bubble with his gum before it popped on his nose.
¨Okay what time is it...¨
´Check the watch I made for you instead of asking me when i'm doing something important.´
Shade was busy peeling off gum from his face and hands. Jay checked his wrist and read the time. 10:41 AM.
¨I have to get ready… Sigh… should have just let me sleep.¨
Jay groaned and went to his closet to get an outfit to change into. He showered and brushed his teeth while doing his hair. He went to the kitchen and cooked some eggs before turning on the television to watch Sunday morning cartoons. Today I could relax and do whatever because Ace and Jasmine were away on business. They didn't leave me alone though… ON the day they were leaving they said someone under them would come watch the house. Ace and Jasmine left the day before so I had yet to meet them. They will be coming soon though.
¨Ding dong¨
¨Coming!¨
Jay set down his plate and ran over to the door. He opened it and saw a man with five scars on his face and blond hair pulled back. One scar went through his right eye, the other across the rim of his nose. A scar was on the end of his right brow and another on the left side of his jaw.
¨Hello, you must be Jay.¨
¨Yes, and you are?¨
¨Oh where are my manners? The name´s Elliot Taylor. Pleasure to meet you.¨
Elliot smiled and stuck out a hand but Jay froze when he saw him smile. Another thing he had learned during training was how to detect intent. That smile was a warning telling him if he were to do anything wrong it´d be game over.
