Lucy lay sprawled across the bed, her phone resting on the pillow beside her as she held it to her ear. Tom was sitting next to her, leaning against the headboard, a book in his hands, but his focus kept drifting to the conversation. His lips curved into a small smile every now and then as he listened to Lucy argue with Jade and Sonia.
"For the last time," Lucy said, her voice laced with playful exasperation, "I don't want a bachelorette party."
"Why not?" Jade's voice came through the speaker, impatient and insistent. "What else would you rather do on the night before your wedding?"
"I've told you. I just want to stay in bed with my soon-to-be husband," Lucy replied without missing a beat, her voice softening as she glanced at him.
Tom looked up from his book, his eyes lighting up with amusement. He chuckled, the sound low and warm, and leaned over to blow her a kiss. Lucy giggled, her cheeks pink as she swatted at him playfully.
