Nise glared absently at a small, eight-legged, chitinous body in the corner of the break room's window, wondering how many generations of her nieces and nephews cycled through their lives to get to this small little guy on the glass.
as one does, Nise soon found herself wondering what this little one would look like as a Homunculus, perhaps with building muscles and rock-hard abs. then again, what he would look like certainly makes little difference to her, not only through the fact she had no interest in that sort of thing but also due to her most likely being inclined to eat him afterward.
as the black shell traveled from one end of the web to another to assault a fly that had been captured, Nise huffed out a sigh and then did what most people seem to have lost the ability to do in general. she stopped giving a fuck. instead, she reached out, grabbed the spider web and all, and dangled it above her face before opening her mouth and dropping the whole thing inside, replacing her mask to its proper position.
she didn't even register the crunch that came with her teeth crushing both her kin and the fly alike.

running was hard. the girl's lungs hurt. though that could probably be better attributed to the fact that there was currently a bullet lodged in it.
her small frame made it easy to duck through the various obstacles laying about the alleyway she had run into. surely after two hours of running, you would think that her pursuers would have called it a night. but no, they seemed to be adamant about catching her before the sun rose.
this was bad. coughing up blood was not a good combination with the doll-like face sporting rosy cheeks and a modest helping of freckles. her ethereal green eyes were not suited to being set into a configuration of panic and fear. the once blue blouse she had on was positively ruined. holes from the bullet wounds were leaking viscous crimson like a broken container of jellied wine.
again. bad. very bad. terribly, horribly, mega bad. if not for her status as a Homunculus, she would have certainly been dead from the blood loss. guess there can be some things that luck can be accounted for.
her eyes flashed from their phantasmal green to a blazing blue with red rings, and then back again for only an instant. the ground where she had been looking caught fire.
this was worse. she was losing control of her Sinner's Eyes. she quickly stamped out the flame.
hopefully, it didn't catch any attention.
"You okay kid?" a voice came, boyish and full of subtle annoyance, though it seemed more generalized than directed towards anything.
the girl's heart raced faster now, her breathing increased, even more, causing her to add to the small puddle of blood she had already vomited. who was there, did she miss them?
after a series of panicked glances shooting around the alley, the girl's eyes set on a taller woman with pink eyes. there was a smiling mask on the ground next to where this stranger was sitting and stabbing the girl with their cherry blossom gaze through the small wisp of cigarette smoke rising from the end of the stick in her mouth. behind her was a door labeled 'Employees Only!'
the two seemed to stare at each other for an eternity before the woman sighed, put out her cigarette, and latched her mask onto her face while standing up and opening the door, "Get your ass inside. and try not to bleed on the product. I don't want to be responsible for everyone having to come back to find all their hard work ruined."
