Chapter 8 - Principal's call

I was awoken by the horrendous sound of an elderly bawling out on little children. "Someone chucked a brick through the window. WHICH OF YOU RASCALS IS RESPONSIBLE?" The children in concordance squeaked "We didn't do it!" but the surly bloke was left un-hinged, he raised his cane and battered it onto the child's shoulder. Bernard beat the old man with a body swerve before scoring with a well-executed shot from a difficult angle and yanked the stick from his hand. He speedily succoured his stunned mate, and ran away in haste. The other followed his footsteps and very vigilantly darted towards safety before the old man could take off his shoes.

"What's wrong with you, mate?" A man tapped the old man's shoulder lightly. The elderly turned around and attempted to thrash his shoe on the newly arrived figure, but he veered in time. He took hold of his shoe and raised it high, so the old man couldn't venture for it anymore. "Put my shoe down, tot!"

"Those bratty tots damaged my window. Drop my shoe so I can grab them! Such incivility is intolerable! I must get them- leave me, tot, or I'm going to charge you as well!" The old man scuffled, and reached for his shoe which was soaring high up in air.

"Without evidence, you can't bring a charge." The young man spoke firmly. "OHH, so you must be their leading tot, aren't you bastard? No wonder you're suddenly afraid of the charges! You bet I'm going to make you pay."

The young man sighed; "Here's your shoe, mate." And dropped his shoe on the ground, he bent down to offer help to the old man so he could wear his shoes easily, but he neglected the opportunity and spit on his hands instead. "Move away, tot." The old man weakly trudged along the side of the road and back into his house.

I watched from afar, trying to hide behind the curtains. I wanted to evade my presence from the situation in whatever way I could, but the rarity of a situation like this made me curious to watch. I jumped as my phone rang, and quickly grabbed it. I immediately checked the caller's id; it was the principal.

"Hello?"

"Hello dear, this is your principal. I'm sorry for calling you on the weekend, but due to the calamity of this situation, we'd need you to appear in the school's office. Hurry up." She ended the call, leaving me astounded. Did something happen? Well, I hope everything's alright. I walked back to my window and peered outside, the weather was revolving unexpectedly; soon enough the blustering winds will play their role. Was I being prepared for what was to be unveiled?
