Chereads / Chasing The Mist / Chapter 12 - "What a bother"

Chapter 12 - "What a bother"

~Your thoughts matter most, never forget~

Up. Down. Up. Down.

The attacker's foot repeated stomps on the wounded man on the ground. The sounds of the city masked dull thuds. Despite the abuse being inflicted on him, the man tightly bites his lips, refusing to utter a single sound. He stares daggers at the person ramming their foot into his chest.

"Hey stop looking at me like that. I should be the upset one, okay. Just look how much it took for me to bring you down." after he spoke, he immediately attacked the man's mind. The wounded man's eyes fell shut.

The attacker was upset because during their altercation he was, for the first time, injured while attacking someone else. Just the thought of how scuffed up his appearance is caused him to stamp even harder into the man's chest. He didn't care that the suit the man wore deepened in color as his chest bled.

"Creshov" as if the wind itself, a figure clad in a black robe appears one step beside the attacker.

"What!" Being disturbed while he was venting made 'Creshov' irritated.

Used to this treatment, they remain unperturbed at his attitude and simply direct a slow gaze at the man under his feet whose breathing has become shallow.

"He is going to die."

"What?"

"Saegeains die when they lose too much blood"

"And?" 'Creshov' brows furrow, wonder what their point is.

"The Saegeain below your foot is bleeding excessively, thus he is going to die"

At last, they finished their words, so the assaulter finally realized what they were trying to say. Creshov looked below him, and realized the bottom of their shoe was truly stained with blood.

"Ugh, another shoe ruined by this wretched family" Creshov quickly removed the shoe of the man's chest, which honestly just caused more blood to flow out.

Who cares about a life when a good shoe has been wasted?; their life principle was evident.

Creshov franticly wipe the shoe on the group in hopes to remove the blood.

"Whatever, let's finish this" Creshov gave up on the shoe ad looked back at the bloody man.

"..." the site of the man in the bloody trashed suit made him pause "hey, you come here" he ordered the person who called him earlier.

"Yes, Creshov" without delay they approach.

"Check if he's alive. Why isn't he moving?" he asked incredulously, while stepping back.

"Right away Creshov... if I can ask Creshov?" they pause but finally ask.

'It's may dumbass, not can. Are you mute?' Creshov rebuked in his mind.

"What is it? Hurry up. Unlike the others, we are doing this in broad daylight, do you want to get caught."

"My apologies Creshov, I was just wondering why you stepped back and asked me to check"

"Or you really asking something so obvious," he askance at the robed figure, as if he asked something appallingly obvious.

"WHAT IF HE IS ACTUALLY DEAD!?" He shouted "Do you seriously expect me to go near a dead body, if I was fine with that the Gi family would miss a couple descendants already, not just them being knocked out. Sheesh, you bloody barbarian hurry up and check already, I feel like he really is dead and is cursing my from the beyond already." Creshov rubbed his arm as if feeling a chill.

"Yes Creshov" she was already privy to the fact that her boss disliked dead bodies, as for why, even at the brink of death, she doesn't believe their Creshov would ever share the details of what caused this paranoia.

"Let me tell you what happened"

or maybe not. The black clad person listened to the story of her Creshov's past as she knelt and checked on the immobile man on the ground. Though barely, the man's chest was indeed still going up and down.

"He lives"

"Oh" even with it being the result he wanted, the man sounded slightly disappointed "Well let's go I already broke his head. Maybe he will be as lucky as the rest and someone will find him before he bleeds out and die" With a swift turn and with a robed figure in tow they abandoned the alley way.

Blood leaks from the man's mouth as the assaulter walks away. Neither of the leaving figures notice the green hue coming from the body he just beat up.

…...................................................................................

Pindrop silence. It echoed in their air canals Their breaths were caught in their throats. A small drop of blood ran along the knife's blade and it slowly glides along the smooth edge then hesitates at the tip before starting its descent and with a plop it stains the snow-white carpet of its owner's home. Like someone pressed a button at the instant the blood droplet fell, all the persons in the room awoke from their shock. Slithering like a snake, a green vine strikes at the sudden intruder.

"Are you sure you want to do that?" they put more pressure on the hand holding the dagger. The vine froze just an inch before it touched the person, though it didn't retreat.

'How merciless he was really aiming to stab out her eyes,' Serensi thought. He reclined in the seat, no longer bothered by the gun pointed at his head.

Cylan silently stares at the woman holding a knife to Andriet's neck, and she stares back. Then, with a flick of his hand, the vines moved back to their place as wall decorations and not the murder weapons we used them for. Garthox's body crashed down, the living room shook as a large crater formed where his unconscious body laid.

"There I released him, happy now?"

"Should I be happy?"

Everyone just looked at her blankly.

"Could you move" Andriet said calmly, not like someone with a knife to her throat.

"One moment, the elder has requested your presence at the manor"

"Request? As if that decrepit old cyg has ever done anything but order people his entire life" with a sneer he went over to them and pushed her away from Andriet. Looking at the blood on Andriet's, he felt an urge to just have them all shot dead. He kneels and uses his sleeve to wipe the trail of blood.

She pays no mind to his words and continues, "I was given this message to pass on in the event you refused to come to the Gi manor". She reaches into her pocket and takes out a piece of paper which she unfolds and begins reading "Tell him to remember that the Gi family doesn't take lightly anything that may be a threat to them, you should say this then look angrily at the silver head he follows around"

"..."

"Cousin, I don't believe you should have read the last line but rather, just do it," Serensi looks at her.

"Oh, really?" she blinks and gives a brief nod.

"Tell him to remember that the Gi family doesn't take lightly anything that may be a threat to them," then she looks down at the seated Andriet with a threatening gaze. And her gaze was truly a frightening one, but she doesn't seem to realize the previous slip up just diffused it.

"..."

Cylan stood up from his crouched position and looked at her straight in the eye as he spoke "I said I'm not going; I want to see them try to hurt us. Go back and tell that senile old coot to take that note and shove it up his a-"

"Ahem"

"-butt"

She looked at him, and by the looks of it, gears were turning in her head. After she finished thinking hard, she finally said "Tell him to remember that the Gi fam-"

"You said that already!" Cylan snapped. He was smiling, but there was nothing pleasant about his expression.

She thought again and when it seemed she thought it through, she looked at Andriet angrily.

"Ugh," Cylan mentally faced palm at her and for the first time ever, he was in sync with his family.

'Is she programmed to have only the things written on note as her response?'

"Fuc-"

"We'll go" After all that happened Andriet finally spoke up and rose from her position.

"Etty?" Cylan looked at her in confusion.

She just gave him a silent gaze, then turned back to the one holding the dagger.

"I said we'll go, so leave. Now" Andriet commanded.

She determined that her mission was completed, so she complied and agreed to leave.

Six Gi members walked in and two had to be carried out, two were shaken and the rest calming supported their unconscious family members outside. Well, one of them glanced back for a moment.

The door closed, and the house returned to how it was before the uninvited guest. Well, not exactly as there was now a large crater in the room and various décor lay broken on the floor. Not to mention their now cracked portrait that fell from the wall.

"What a bother" Both the Gi family members and the mess they left. Andriet had already started sprinkling the salt the moment they started the leave. She didn't hide it from them and started sprinkling each step they took. Usually they would have an opinion but they served too much damage to them and the ceiling guns were also not retracted yet. When she finished, she checked a reflective surface and saw that her wound stopped all its bleeding.

Cylan walked over to her and directly grabbed beneath her thighs and hoisted her in his arms. She immediately wrapped her arms around his neck.

While twirling his hair she leant against his shoulder and started explaining her decision "I know you don't like going to that place, but think about it. Would those numbskulls in your family give up? The fact that even Serensi came means that some of the more sensible members of your family may also think you have something to do with this. Of course, I'm not scared of them and their foolish accusations. I have more than enough power myself to protect you even if they get the bureau involved"

"Oh, my hero~" he grins and 'swoons' over her declaration.

"Be quiet." she remarked irritably but he could see the slight twitch of her lips.

"Plus, we both were curious about this case and now we have a reason to get involved"

"Oh, so now you admit you were curios as well"

"Be. Quiet" she repeats "So I agreed to go, who knows what we might find out"

He had already walked up the stairs with her and was now entering her bedroom. It was a rest day and Andriet does just that. She sleeps in late, naps after breakfast, usually skipping lunch, then she has dinner, and relaxes with Cylan before heading to bed at 10:30. She would repeat this routine for all three workless days. A fully leisurely life. Only her business being on the very verge of collapse would convince her to work on a rest day.

"I see," Cylan responds, and places her on the bed.

"Are you fine with this, we could always not go if it bothers you. Let's spend time abroad and wait till Mist wipes them all out," she asks him. They wouldn't put one foot in the Gi manor if he didn't want it.

"It's fine," He squats and lightly kisses her forehead while holding her cheeks "we'll do as the missus wants." He looks her directly in the eye and grins. His eyes glowed like the purest emerald and when she saw no entanglements in them, she was at ease.

'There is another reason I want to go, but let's keep that to myself'

She wraps her pale arms around his waist and pulled him into the bed with her to accompany her in her nap.
