Chapter 25 - Heads in the Air

In a building near the west gate.

This building was originally the residence for the university's professors. Currently, it had been turned into a shelter for a large number of the Mutual Aid Association.

Most of the members were now gathered in the common room on the fifth floor. They had gathered all the tables and pushed them together in the center of the room to form a large table.

At this moment, the leaders of the Mutual Aid Association were gathered for a meeting.

"Professor, James and his group are killing zombies on the path leading to our territory."

Many students had discovered James leading his men from the southern side of the university to open up the path to the western side of the university.

In fact, Ika and a few others had deliberately lured the zombies here as a means to protect the western gate.

All of them felt that James and his men were even worse than the zombies when they found out of their depravity. At the very least, the zombies would not eat them because they were driven by instincts. However, James and his people would capture, torture, and kill people for fun.

"Professor Ira, what should we do now?"

"Professor! According to the information we just received, it won't be long before James and his men will be done killing the 100 plus zombies!"

"That's right. They've killed about half of the zombies now. It won't be long before they're done!"

"Professor, you have to think of a way!"

"The supplies in this building won't last us much longer. Why don't we promise James..."

There were quite a few students in charge of supplies who knew very well how much supplies they used daily. During apocalyptic times, it was definitely not a small amount. How were they going to support all these people without any supplies?

It was time to make a choice.

Ira was slightly flustered and at a loss over what to do. She had never considered these things before. Her father was the dean of the university before the apocalypse. Naturally, her first instinct was to protect the students. She had expected someone to come to their rescue after a while. With this fantasy in mind, she and a few of her father's subordinates had set up a support group here. However, reality was like a bucket of cold water that was splashed on them.

Their shortage of food and supplies was the first of their problems.

Suddenly, a student looked at Ira and said solemnly, "Professor, the slave things that James mentioned this morning..."

"F*ck! Shut the f*ck up! Don't you know what will happen if we send Professor Ira to him?" someone interjected angrily.

The other person raised his voice and argued in return, "However, if we hand Professor Ira over, we'll be able to survive. It'll be too late when James and his men charge in here!"

People who were originally opposed to handing Ira over to James fell silent. Their mouths opened and closed a few times as though hesitating to speak.

"F*ck them! F*ck this apocalypse! I'm going crazy!"

"Why don't we just agree to James' request?" a female student quietly said.

"Why don't we send you over instead to be a female slave?" someone retorted.

"Well, if we don't send her over, she will probably die when they charge in. At least, there's a chance of survival if she becomes a slave..."

"You call that living? Being raped by men every day, locked in a building, and waiting for the next man to rape you. Is that living?"

"This won't do, and that won't do. What should we do then?"

"Professor!"

"Professor..."

"Professor?"

More than ten people sat around Ira and argued among each other,

All of sudden, Ira cried out as she pointed outside, "Look, Look!" It was as though she had seen something unbelievable.

"What is it? Did the zombies got to James and his men?"

Most of the people looked in the direction Ira pointed.

...

Rhodes continued to observe as James and his men killed the zombies. After a while, he confirmed they did not carry guns or firearms.

Maybe they did not bring their guns because they were afraid the noise would attract more zombies. Who knew? Rhodes could not care less. All he knew was without guns, he had no need to be wary of James and his men.

Finally, Rhodes began to make his way out of the woods.

When James saw Rhodes emerging from the woods, he was shocked. He recognized Rhodes immediately. "It's you?"

James had pursued Julie for a long time. Who would have expected, in the end, she would fall for a good-for-nothing?

James' men, or lackeys, knew about James pursuing Julie, and they, naturally, thought Rhodes was a good-for-nothing as well. They began to speak up one after another to mock him.

"Rhodes, are you alone? Where's your girlfriend?"

"That's right! Why didn't you bring your girlfriend? You looked down on our boss back then. It's not too late to apologize now."

"Rhodes, we're in a world of zombies now. Can you even protect the university's beauty with how cowardly you are? Why don't you bring her to our boss? What do you think?"

Before long, the mockeries turned into outright threats.

"That's right. You should send your girlfriend over. Our boss will definitely protect her."

"If you don't, you'll f*cking die today. Don't even think about leaving!"

Many of them had bullied Rhodes in the past. They became even worse when he started dating Julie. At that time, Rhodes did not dare to resist at all. If he resisted, it would be even worse.

"What a f*cking loser. I think he's too frightened that he forgot how to speak?"

All of them looked at Rhodes with eyes brimming with contempt and anticipation. It was as though they were certain they would be able to see the famous university beauty dancing naked in front of them just to please them.

'They're really overestimating themselves.' In Rhodes' mind, he had already decided to kill everyone who had spoken. He looked at James with a hint of amusement and calmly asked, "How do you want to die?"

James and his men were momentarily stunned by Rhodes' words. When they recovered, all of them burst into laughter. No one took him seriously at all and thought he was a fool who overestimated himself.

"Trash, you must have not been beaten for a long time? Do you miss being beaten?"

Someone laughed. "There are so many of us and just you alone, but you dare to say those words? You're really going to die today!"

"Hey, hey, useless Rhodes is just trying to be funny. It's the funniest joke I've heard this year."

A boy from the football team began to say, "Trash, when I see your girlfriend kneeling in front of our boss' crotch..." However, his words were abruptly cut off; he was stunned speechless by the sight in front of his eyes.

A head could be seen in the air. The eyes on the decapitated head were filled with disbelief. Based on his body posture, he did not even have time to defend himself.

The others who were laughing earlier looked at Rhodes who was holding a knife in his hand with widened eyes.

At this moment, hints of terror could be seen in the depths of their eyes.
