Chereads / Zombie Thud: I Become Stonger When I Get Bitten! / Chapter 23 - Ira the Beautiful Teacher

Chapter 23 - Ira the Beautiful Teacher

Rhodes carried all the weapons he had on his back.

First, he made a stop at the nearest convenience store that was located near the university gates. This place had long been looted, probably by the students. However, it was an excellent hiding place. From there, he observed the hordes of zombies at the south gate.

Although he did not use Insight, with just a glance, he could see the numbers were in the three figures. He could easily take care of the zombies alone. However, he had to investigate the people or factions on campus. After all, what if he killed all the zombies, and other people reaped the benefits?

After that, he circled around the wall. He used Insight and saw two people standing guard at the south gate. He had to admit those people had hidden themselves very well. If it were not for his special ability, he would have walked into a trap.

With this discovery, he decided against going in through the gates. He would have to find another way to get in.

He looked at the walls that stretched out at the sides. For ordinary people, it would be impossible to climb in. However, he, whose attributes were five times more than ordinary people, easily jumped over the wall. It was like a stroll in the park for him.

After successfully entering the university, he discovered, apart from the hordes of zombies gathering outside the gates, there were a few zombies shuffling around on campus as well. Based on the corpses on the ground, it seems like the people killed some of the zombies and left some of them alive.

Rhodes could infer the meaning behind these few zombies shuffling around on campus. It was not that the people could not kill them, but whatever faction or force was in charge probably used these zombies to intimidate people.

Rhodes openly made his way to the hidden guards at the gates as he announced, "I've already found you. Let's end this quickly."

However, the closer he was to their hiding place, the more he felt that something was amiss. Through Insight, he could see their postures were extremely strange.

One of them seemed to be kneeling, head constantly moving back and forth. Then, he turned his back to the other person. Then, the person behind began to move vigorously. After a while, both of them collapsed to the ground.

Although Rhodes finally figured out what was going on, he did not waste any unnecessary words.

The two people who were just finished with their business suddenly saw a flash of movement. In just a blink of an eye, a bloody knife appeared in front of them, startling them half to death.

Rhodes' voice rang frostily from beside them, "I'm going to ask you questions, and you're going to answer them. Otherwise, your heads will roll."

When they looked at the source of the voice, they were surprised to see it was the weakling Rhodes! With this, their fear seemed to have vanished without a trace and was replaced by disdain instead.

One of them said mockingly, "Rhodes, you're so amazing now. You even dare to use a knife."

In the university, was there anyone who did not know the weakling Rhodes was dating the university's beauty, Julie? No one understood why such a beautiful girl would like a good-for-nothing guy like Rhodes.

Their captain, James, had once challenged Rhodes. However, being the coward he was, Rhodes did not dare to accept the challenge.

"Brat! How dare you point a knife at us?"

Rhodes could hear the anger, confusion, and disdain in their voices. He did not hesitate to draw his knife across the neck of the guy who had just spouted nonsense.

"F*ck! Rhodes, are you f*cking crazy?!" The other person was naturally stunned. He did not expect the cowardly Rhodes would dare to kill someone. Moreover, he had killed in such a decisive and neat manner. He was growing afraid now.

"Let's continue. I'll ask the questions; you'll answer them." Rhodes placed the knife that was still dripping with blood against the guy's neck.

The guy nearly peed his pants from this.

"How many factions are there on campus?"

"F-four… Each one occupies the north, south, east, and west gates respectively."

"Who's in charge of the south gate?"

"James. The captain of the football team."

Rhodes knew who James was of course. After all, James had publicly declared his love for Julie in the broadcasting room. It caused Julie to feel embarrassed for a time.

"Where's he now?"

"Our boss saw the zombie hordes at the south gate, and it seems like the gate is going to give way. Therefore, he has gone to the west gate to fight for territory."

James had a terrible personality, and Rhodes had a grudge against him. However, he had to admit James had a really keen sense of danger. When there was danger, he knew how to run. However, could he make the other party's wish come true?

Under the other person's incredulous gaze, Rhodes cut the corpse of the person into pieces. After experiencing the apocalypse, he was no longer his former self. In the world, only the strong would be respected. As the saying went, 'To be merciful to one's enemy is to be cruel to oneself'.

'James? It's time for me to repay you for the past.' With strength five times stronger than ordinary people, Rhodes had the strength to crush a team of football players.

Rhodes made his way to the university's west gate. He was a little impatient earlier and forgot to ask for the exact location. However, as long as he was heading in the right direction, he would meet those people sooner or later.

"You don't have much time left. If you don't hand Ira over to be my slave, we'll force our way in. Think about it," James said threateningly to the people from the west gate.

The west gate's faction called themselves the Mutual Aid Association. The faction consisted of a ragtag team of professors and students. Although they had many members, their combat strength was truly lacking.

Faced with James and more than 100 of his men who wielded weapons, the people from the Mutual Aid Association, naturally, did not dare to confront them directly.

After all, James and his men were very intimidating. Initially, James had gathered more than 150 people to his side. However, due to some incidents and some people, he had deliberately killed a few people to intimidate his men. He had never been hesitant about killing people. There were people who were accidentally bitten while killing zombies; he had immediately sent his men over to kill those people. As long as they were injured, no matter how light or severe, all of them were killed. In the end, there were only 120 people left.

James had come to the west gate today with ulterior motives. He would make sure there would be a fierce battle between the south gate and west gate today unless they handed Ira over.

Before the apocalypse, Ira was widely acknowledged as the most beautiful professor on campus. At that time, James had tried to make a move on her.

In any case, James did not care what the west gate's people's choice would be. Either one would serve his purpose. He would have Ira or he would carve a chunk of flesh out of the west gate's faction and grab some people over. He needed more manpower. After all, recently, the east gate's faction, made up of mostly ex-security guards and basketball players, had gotten stronger and stronger.

After an hour.

One of the lackeys stepped forward and said tentatively, "Boss, when we came out to kill the zombies earlier, your cousin was injured… We…"

"Beat him to death." James did not even hesitate.

"But he's your..."

"There are no buts!" James said coldly, "No matter who it is, if they're injured by a zombie, they will become a zombie. Kill!" Then, he added threateningly, "Do you want to go to the room next door?"

The room next door referred to the room next to the Broadcasting Room, where James lived. The room next door was filled with zombies and was used as a place to deal with corpses or to punish people.

The lackey felt his legs weakening immediately when he heard James' words. "B-boss, I-I was wrong. I won't ask for mercy anymore." Then, he added timidly, "D-do you want to go and see your cousin for a final time?"

James ignored his lackey and fiercely vented his frustration in the mouth of a short-haired girl under him.

After he was done, he said to his lackey, "Come, let's go have a look."
