Chapter 33 - Jack's Surrender

Captain Jack said helplessly, "What choice do we have? I have to admit that the Helkan fleet is really too powerful. Furthermore, your disguise was too good."

There was veiled criticism in Jack's words to Bob.

However, Bob did not mind the sarcasm in Jack's words. Instead, he simply spoke calmly.

"Captain Jack, you don't have to worry about that. It's not uncommon to see people using deception in the military. I just gave you a huge temptation."

After listening to Bob, Captain Jack asked a question.

"How does Planet Helka plan to deal with the Bhutlerian S Battleship Fleet? We were only following orders and accepted the employment from the upper echelons of the Bhutler civilization. Thus, we are not directly related to the Bhutler civilization. Now that we have lost, I have nothing to say."

"We now officially announce our surrender to the Helkan fleet."

"I hope that Planet Helka can be benevolent to our fleet. If that is the case, I will be extremely grateful."

Not long after Captain Jack's order was passed down…

The remaining battleships from the Bhutlerian S Battleship Fleet shut down their engines and removed their weapons and equipment. Meanwhile, the warships and mechas that were cruising in the battlefield returned to the battleship.

This brief interstellar battle ended with the defeat and surrender of the Bhutlerian fleet.

Jack explained to Bob.

"We failed too quickly!"

"We've lost more than 60% of our battleships, and we don't have enough power to return. Furthermore, most of the weapons from the defense systems of the battleships have been destroyed. It's pointless to continue fighting. We will only lose more battleships and more soldiers in that case."

Then, Bob spoke.

"Captain Jack must be under a lot of pressure right now. However, you made the right choice."

After surrendering, the soldiers from the Bhutlerian S Battleship Fleet heaved a sigh of relief.

It was very clear that they didn't want to die on the battlefield.

Fortunately, Captain Jack eventually chose to surrender and did not resist.

At least, ordinary starship soldiers like them did not have to bear the responsibility of losing the battle.

Even if they were freed by the upper echelons of Planet Bhutler for a high ransom, they would not be severely punished.

After all, they were just ordinary mercenary soldiers who had followed Captain Jack's orders.

Whether they surrendered or were defeated, the main responsibility would be on Captain Jack.

In the end, Captain Jack bore all the responsibility alone.

Of course, there were some soldiers who were unwilling to surrender, but they did not have the ability to change this outcome.

After all, the Captain had already chosen to surrender. What could an ordinary soldier change?

In the end, all of the interstellar battleships from the Bhutlerian fleet extinguished their engines.

Then, they waited to be dealt with by the Helkans.

Everyone was very nervous.

After all, the people of Planet Bhutler had done outrageous things to Planet Terra and Planet Helka.

However, they hoped that the Helka civilization was not a brutal civilization.

Brain was riding on a small mecha to the destruction-grade battleship where Bob was.

Inside the command cabin, the ten Sweepers, Harris, and the upper echelons of Planet Terra were standing upright.

Meanwhile, Brian sat in the command seat while receiving reports from his subordinates.

"Reporting to the Overlord, all the interstellar battleships from the S Battleship Fleet have turned off their engines!"

Number Two was the one who spoke.

Since he had stayed on Planet Terra for a month, he was very familiar with the interstellar terrain outside Planet Terra.

Therefore, Brian asked Number Two to be in charge of this operation.

Number Two didn't even believe his own report.

Not long ago, when he contacted Jack's fleet asking Jack to give up resisting, he was decisively rejected by the angry Captain Jack.

Then, the Bhutlerian fleet under Jack's command launched a tenacious resistance.

Although they did not cause any substantial damage to the Helkan fleet, the Helkan fleet had used up a lot of resources to activate their defenses.

Even though Jack's main ship had been treated and teased like a football, he did not surrender halfway through.

Then, why did the stubborn Captain Jack choose to surrender not long after?

Originally, Number Two admired Jack's determination to not surrender. After all, Number Two was also such a person.

Heroes appreciated each other.

However, Jack's respectful attitude when he finally surrendered made Number Two despise Jack.

Jack had gone from arrogance to deference.

This contrast was hard for Number Two to accept.

Before Jack surrendered, Number Two even wanted to request for Brian to attack Jack's main ship.

However, even before he could submit his request, he received news of Brian's surrender.

"Forget it. Jack's surrender is also a good thing. It will allow Planet Helka and the fleet to consume less energy. It's just that Jack disappointed me. He didn't resist to the point where I needed to take action personally…"

However, Number Two did not dwell on Jack's surrender.

Meanwhile, all the interstellar warships in the S Battleship Fleet from Planet Bhutler had shut down their engines, disarmed themselves, and retrieved their aircraft carriers.

This was the sign of an official surrender.

It was like raising a white flag in a war on the ground.

Clearly, this was not a fake surrender.

This was because shutting down and restarting their engines consumed a large amount of energy and time. On the interstellar battlefield, doing so in front of an enemy ship was equivalent to committing suicide.

As soon as Number Two finished reporting, a soldier rushed into the Helkan command room.

"Reporting to the Captain and the Overlord, the main ship of the Bhutlerian S Battleship Fleet is requesting to communicate with us."

"Agreed. Connect the communication signal immediately!"

Since the Bhutlerian S Battleship Fleet had surrendered, the communication signal this time was a video signal.

After the signal was picked up, the image of the command cabin in the main ship of the Bhutlerian S Battleship Fleet appeared on the big screen.

Brian saw Captain Jack, who had a bitter expression on his face. He also saw a group of staff officers, as well as corpses and blood all over the floor of the cabin.

Then, Brian and Bob and the others understood why Jack had surrendered.

It turned out that Captain Jack had been coerced by his subordinates.

That was why Jack chose to surrender.

This surprised Brian and Bob.

Initially, they had planned to use tactics to force Captain Jack to surrender, but they did not expect Jack to be forced to surrender.

Jack's expression was blank.

"This interstellar war has been won by the Helka civilization. We don't wish to continue this meaningless war. The condition of our surrender is that the Helkans cannot abuse or kill the soldiers of the S Battleship Fleet. The Helkans also cannot reject the request from the headquarters to redeem the fleet."

After listening to the conditions for surrender from the S Battleship Fleet, Brian calmly spoke.

"You have surrendered, and Planet Helka has also accepted your request to surrender. The defeated should have the awareness of the defeated."

"We need Captain Jack to come and have a private meeting with us first. After the negotiation is completed, only then will the Helka civilization accept your request for surrender."

When Brian finished speaking, Jack turned to look at the group of staff officers behind him.

After seeing them nod, Jack replied to Brian.

"Alright, I'll head to your starship now. I hope that you won't attack my escape capsule."

Brian flashed a crooked smile and laughed.

"Sure. As the planet overlord of Planet Helka, I promise not to attack you or your fleet until the negotiations are over."

In other words, if the negotiation failed, Jack's life would be in danger.

Then, the communication ended.
