Chapter 12 - Savage Society, Urgent Need For Civilization

Jack nodded at everyone.

Then, he said, "You don't have to call me Master anymore. Call me President Jack or President."

They wanted to insist, but at Jack's command, they all nodded in agreement.

Then, Jack made them call him president a few times to correct their mistakes.

But in reality, he wanted to get a kick out of hearing it!

Indeed, this feeling was very good.

"Mr. President, may I know the name of our island?" the butler asked.

"Name?" Jack pouted. This was not something he had considered.

But what should he call it?

America?

Washington?

Or England?

Or France?

No, none of them sounded good.

It would feel like he was just taking a path someone had already paved.

After thinking for a while, Jack's eyes lit up and he said, "Let's call it New World Island."

Everyone's eyes lit up after hearing that.

"New World? That's a good name. Under the leadership of the President, we welcome a new world!" The regiment commander could not help but say.

Steve advised: "The name may not sound official, Mr. President."

Jack waved a hand to silence Steve.

"Steve, I know what you're thinking, but this is exactly what this island of ours is really like. I want everyone to see hope. I'm not going to be a tyrannical king. I don't need such a dirty country," Jack said.

Indeed, Jack's dream was not to create an outdated monarchy.

In fact, this kind of system was not good for kings or subjects.

After all, too many dynasties had been overthrown in history.

Jack did not want to follow in their footsteps.

He also actually preferred the world of technology.

That world was the Utopia of humans.

Everyone had food to eat, money to spend, and a place to sleep. Everyone worked hard to pursue a higher quality of life.

This was a healthy life, this was a beautiful life!

Jack's words hit everyone's soft spot.

Indeed, this world was too rotten.

After experiencing the darkness of this world, they understood this even more.

Thus, they were even more touched by Jack's dream.

Soon, Jack told them everything, including how to build the toilet and how to make use of the waste in the toilet.

He also asked the regiment commander to quickly find talents with special skills among the slaves, such as carpenters, gardeners, architects, shipbuilders, and so on.

At the same time, they had to form a few Hunting Squads to investigate the island as soon as possible.

He also instructed the Hunting Squad not to touch anything they did not understand and to inform the butler of any discoveries.

By the time he was done, the sky had already turned dark.

After that, there was nothing else for him to do.

After all, he had already divided the management system of these 1,000 people. If he had any ideas, he could just bring them up and let them be implemented.

He could be at ease and do nothing now.

Jack took Eugene with him and chose an area on the hillside where Eugene could build temporary houses.

It had to be said that the swordsmen were not weak.

No tree could withstand their sword.

Soon, a single room filled with the fragrance of trees was built.

Alice went in first to clean the house and make the bed, then, Jack entered.

After turning down Alice's offer to accompany him, Jack lay alone on the big bed.

He could not help but relax.

Indeed, establishing one's own faction was not that simple.

Fortunately, there was the soul contract. Otherwise, Jack would not be able to make these thousand people listen to him without killing dozens of people!

Of course, this was only the beginning. There would probably be more trials in the future. He hoped that the few people he had trained could stand up firmly!

As for Alice?

As much as Jack wanted to take her down, now was really not the time.

He needed to maintain enough energy to deal with the problems caused by these thousand plus people.

...

It was a long night. The day passed, and the early chirping of birds in the morning woke Jack.

Opening the door, Jack stood in the sunlight, feeling the coolness of being surrounded by trees.

His sleepiness was swept away.

Seeing Jack come out, Eugene hurriedly said, "Good morning, Mr. President."

Jack nodded.

Looking at Eugene's wet body, he must have stayed up all night.

Indeed, loyalty was a good thing!

Jack patted Eugene on the shoulder in praise.

Soon, Alice came over with some water.

This was Jack's habit. He had to wash his face and brush his teeth in the morning.

Alice had taken care of Jack for some time, so she knew his habits.

After Jack washed his face, Alice took out some bread and dried meat.

The two sat at the table and ate mouthful after mouthful.

The bread made in this world were dry and dense. Once it turned cold, it would be like a stone that could not be chewed or swallowed!

The dried meat was not processed properly either. It was simply dried under the sun, becoming just like a leather belt. Moreover, there was not even the slightest bit of meat fragrance. It tasted extremely bland.

Jack had long wanted to cook his own delicacies, but he had never had the chance. Today, he once again set this goal on the agenda!

He had no choice. If he continued eating this, he would go crazy!

After all, it was easy to adapt to an increased standard of living, but the reverse was torturous!

"Did something happen last night?" Jack asked.

"Sir President, it's just a small matter. The butler and regiment commander have already settled it," Eugene said.

Jack nodded.

Nothing much should occur at the start.

He would go down to inspect and see how they were progressing later!

This was the most important thing. Although he had a lot of food now, he still needed some time to produce grains. If he could not reach the necessary level of production when food ran out, these people would probably go hungry!

Soon, Jack finished eating and strolled with Alice and Eugene towards the camp where the slaves were.

Eugene had already informed them of Jack's arrival.

Hence, all the officials had been waiting at the entrance for a long time.

When they saw Jack, they hurriedly walked up and half-knelt on the ground, saying: "Good morning, Mr. President."

Jack nodded and asked casually, "How's the land cultivation going?"

Steward Steve said, "Mr. President, it's not going well. They lack sufficient tools, and this place is full of tree roots. It's very troublesome to plow."

Jack nodded.

This was within his expectations.

However, there were enough people. Theoretically, there was not a lot of land to cultivate, so they should be able to complete the mission.

Thus, Jack motioned for the group to show him the scene.

The group walked majestically and soon arrived at their destination.

It was a spectacular sight.

Countless people were diligently cultivating the barren land.
