Chapter 39 - Why Did The Map Change Color?

Professor Feissel and the others watched Ian dismantle all the traps.

They also gathered their courage and slid down the rope. They looked at the piles of treasures and precious relics around them.

Professor Feissel swallowed his saliva. His eyes were almost fixed on them.

If they were to bring all these outside… It would not only shock the world—it would be enough to shock the world a few times!

It was a rich harvest!

Professor Feissel had paid a huge price for taking over the excavation team by force.

If these findings were to be published, not only would the government cover up his actions, but even the international community would praise his courage.

Sometimes, the evaluation of a person was that 'magical'.

Sometimes one would be a thug who ignored the rules, and some others they would be a warrior who discovered the truth of history.

After the group reached the ground, they were relieved.

The various horrible traps they had encountered along the way kept their hearts in suspense.

Given their mortal bodies, they would probably be fed to rats in this underground cave if Ian missed anything.

The ancient Egyptian anti-tomb-raider terrifying traps had shocked everyone.

The way they looked at Ian was complicated.

On the one hand, without Ian, they wouldn't have been able to get this far on their own.

They would either have been killed by some traps or by those terrifying snakes.

On the other hand… as professional archaeologists, they had lost to a layman.

This was an insult to many people's fragile self-esteem.

Of course, that did not apply to Aika.

Aika was following Ian like a dog's skin plaster.

Now they faced the huge ancient tree that sealed the stone gate.

The ancient tree, which was bound by a dozen huge chains, was obviously not something that could be undone by human strength.

Even so, Aika still had no reason not to trust Ian.

She firmly believed in him.

Ian was the only one who had a way to resolve this.

She followed beside him to see if she could learn a thing or two.

"We know too little about the mausoleum. Thanks to this blockade, we can't even find the entrance." Aika gave up looking for it gloomily. "Ian, do you know where the entrance to the underground palace is?"

She placed her hopes on this man. After all, he had made the impossible possible along the way. Everyone already knew that Ian was very familiar with the various mechanisms in the tomb.

Therefore, it was not just Aika—the whole excavation team looked at Ian like this.

The meaning in their eyes was very obvious.

"Don't try to hide it. It's okay. Everyone understands."

This made Ian instantly embarrassed.

'You guys are too embarrassed to pretend that you don't know how.'

"I know." Ian smiled slightly. "This is the underground palace of the pyramid. My uncle once told me..."

It was the same speech—his supposed uncle had taught him since he was young.

Professor Feissel's ears were starting to hurt from listening to it.

Ian coughed lightly and walked to the front of the giant stone door. He looked up and down at the giant tree that had sealed the stone door.

After looking at it for a moment, he came to a realization.

"This wood is a divine tree!"

"What is a divine tree?" Aika asked curiously.

Ian sorted out his thoughts and told him what he knew.

"I've heard from my uncle that the best material to bury a dead person is divine-quality wood. Very few people have seen it, and that is the divine tree only recorded in ancient books.

"Legend has it that even if the divine tree only has a section, it will not dry up after leaving the soil, water, and sunlight. Although it no longer grows, it still maintains its original appearance. If the corpse is stored in the divine tree, it can be immortal for 10,000 years."

When everyone heard that the divine tree had such a terrifying effect, they clicked their tongues in wonder.

They all looked at the divine tree curiously.

"Then why is such a precious divine tree placed here?"

Ian did not stop them from going forward to observe. He only said indifferently, "I just said that this divine tree could preserve corpses. It will be immortal for 10,000 years. Naturally, it is used to store corpses."

"F*ck! Why didn't you say so earlier!?"

Many people immediately left the vicinity of the divine tree.

"Do you know who's buried inside?"

Professor Feissel was naturally not a newbie. He had long interacted with the things of countless dead people. When he heard that it was a corpse, he was even a little excited.

It was the corpse of a well-preserved ancient Egyptian.

He would overawe the archaeological world this time!

Ian slowly walked to the giant door.

He turned the searchlight and shone it near the divine tree.

He found a pile of ancient Egyptian murals and words carved on the stone door of the divine tree.

Apart from the words, it looked very pale.

But these murals were a little strange. There were only some murals with a base. They were all white and had not been colored yet. They were depicting the sun, moon, and stars. The main ones depicted more than a dozen people wearing headgear. They looked like priests. Some of them held the cloth in their hands, some held masks in their hands, some were holding weapons, and the priests were standing there respectfully. They were surrounding a man in the middle who was obviously stronger than everyone else. He was lying in the divine tree.

In the corner of the large murals, there were two small paintings. They were scenes of sacrifices being offered during this strange ceremony. Bodies were filled with iron and burned. The scene was too horrible to look at, so they did not take a closer look.

Professor Feissel shook his head in disbelief.

"This is strange. From the mural, this divine tree is definitely used to bury an important person. Moreover, it's a man. Maybe it's a high priest or something like that. But this mural..."

All the murals were only painted. They were not colored. They had never seen such murals.

This was completely different from the murals they had seen along the way.

Because of this, everyone did not know if they should move the divine tree.

It was very obvious that there was something hidden in the divine tree. Because it was too old, the murals could not be seen clearly.

It was impossible to accurately guess what was inside.

Just as Feissel was in a daze, the soldier walked over directly.

"Stop playing tricks!"

Ian did not even have time to react.

He grabbed the chains around the divine tree with both hands and tried to push it away.

The divine tree looked huge, but it did not seem to have any weight. It was being pushed slowly.

However, as it was being pushed...

In this lifeless space, a series of "Dong" sounds echoed. It sounded like a heartbeat.

Ian was a little stunned because the underground palace, which was not dangerous at all, on the map in his brain suddenly became a little red...

'Damn! Why did the map change color!' Ian could not help but complain.
