Chapter 29 - A New Way Of Playing, A New Thrill

Three days went past in a flash.

For the past few days, Thomson was very relaxed, but Alice was a little worried.

Today was the third round of the "Do You Know Your Value?" show.

There were many rounds to this show, and with each round, the prize money would increase.

Making it to the third round meant that there would be guaranteed prize money of one million dollars, which was already beyond Alice's initial goal.

If she could win the third round, the prize money would be more. At that thought, Alice got a little excited.

Seeing Alice so excited, Thomson assured her, "Don't worry, I'll help you win the prize money."

Alice's eyes glinted as she said, "Honey, tell me the truth. Do you really have some secret with the program team?"

Thomson's confident attitude gave Alice a feeling that he was keeping some secret.

However, what she didn't know was that Thomson's confidence came from himself and nothing else.

"Secret? You didn't even believe me when I told you..." Thomson said helplessly.

When he recalled his confession, Thomson did not want to explain himself anymore. She would not believe him even if did anyway, so it was better to wait for his funds to be transferred back to China before he proved his identity.

At this moment, Alice's phone rang.

Alice put it on loudspeaker, and the director's voice came through from the other end. "Ms. Alice, today we will begin the third round of the challenge."

"This challenge is a little special. We will interview your family and broadcast it live. We didn't tell you ahead of time to prevent you from falsifying your information."

"In this round, we will compare your standard of living."

"As everyone knows, we can see a person's presence and background from their standard of living. We have invited five professionals from each industry to come and give you a score. Then, we'll calculate it and give you a final score."

"If the score reaches the standard, you will proceed to the next round of the challenge. But if the score is too low, you'll be eliminated."

"Ms. Alice, our program team is currently on the way to your home. If you think that it's inappropriate to do so there, then you can refuse. However, our program team would only be able to give you the guaranteed prize money."

...

The voice of the director came from the other end of the phone.

Alice panicked and said, "We agree to the interview, but can you give us some time to tidy up?"

However, the director said, "In order to ensure the authenticity of the show, we are already at your doorstep, so please open the door. Ms. Alice, rest assure that our program team will not broadcast certain things."

"Beep beep beep..."

As soon as the call was hung up, a series of knocks came from the door.

"Knock knock..."

It was just as the director said — they were already at their doorstep.

...

At the same time, at another live broadcast location, the program team's staff had arrived in front of a large villa.

The entire villa occupied an area of 300 to 400 meters and was luxuriously decorated. Everyone could tell with one look that it was a very high-end villa.

When the staff member rang the doorbell, a middle-aged man in a suit and tie walked out of the villa.

"You're finally here. Hurry up. I still have to discuss a deal worth tens of millions of dollars at noon. Let's not waste any time."

The middle-aged man pretended to look at his dazzling watch.

"Okay, Mr. Davis. We'll just do a simple interview. We won't waste too much of your time," the staff member said with a smile.

Then, they set up the live broadcast equipment and went straight into the villa.

In the live broadcast room, the audience was stunned by Davis's attitude.

"D*mn, he's really rich. His business deal is worth tens of millions of dollars."

"Didn't you notice? The watch on his hand is the latest Patek Phillipe model. It's worth millions."

"D*mn, it's so shiny. Who wouldn't be able to see it with the camera zoomed in?"

"This is called standard of living. In comparison, I'm just a piece of trash."

"I'm so jealous. If I can live in this big villa one day, my life will be complete."

At this moment, the staff members entered the villa. They took a few shots around the house while a few professionals certified all the precious items in the villa.

Davis stood at the side and watched calmly, but every time he opened his mouth, he rushed them.

"It's about time. I still have something to do."

Put in an awkward situation, the staff member could only say, "Mr. Davis, it will be done soon. After all, our show has to give you a full-scale evaluation of your standard of living in order to ensure the authenticity of the show."

"Alright. Hurry up a little." Davis was a little anxious.

At this moment, a person who was dressed like a real estate agent walked in the door.

As soon as he entered, the agent said loudly, "Mr. Davis, what's going on? Didn't you say you wanted to look at the house? Why are there so many people here?"

Look at the house?

For a moment, everyone was stunned.

The staff member was even more dumbfounded.

'So we interviewed you for so long, yet this house doesn't belong to you?'

"Mr. Davis, what's going on?"

The staff member looked at Davis suspiciously.

Davis, on the other hand, was trembling a little. He said in a flustered tone, "I'm here to look at the house, aren't I? It's going to be mine soon."

At the side, the agent said impolitely, "What are you bragging about? I just checked your credit report. You have a debt of more than a million dollars. Your company went bankrupt a year ago. Who the hell are you pretending to be? You've wasted a few days of my time."

Everyone was stunned.

"Hahaha, awesome. So you're a deadbeat."

"The program team is willing to go so far to trick us? They even use the excuse of looking at houses to complete the third round of the challenge."

"It's very entertaining to watch."

"So you're a fake rich man. Luckily I admired that duck skin just now."

"I knew it. Which rich man would be so stupid to participate in this program?"

"Live broadcast is still better. Now, the program team won't be able to react in time after they change the format. If it were before, I'm afraid this segment would've been cut."
