'Where the hell did he run off to?!?'
Veronica was having about to have spasm in her legs if she won't find Zayn any time soon.
Zayn was always giving her trouble by being bothersome or annoying and she always got frustrated when he ran off.
But this time it was different.
She knew that if she doesn't find him soon he's going to get into huge trouble. This could cause the both of them to be demoted or taken of their credits.
Credits was the new currency that they used global. It made purchasing goods from somewhere far away far easier and more productive.
10 credits were given to the students everyday as a paycheck for them to use for their everyday lives.
They could use it to buy clothes, food, items, gear, books, and many more items that were really helpful. The thing was though that they were only given 10 credits a day and because of that they weren't always able to pay for food.
Some parents would send their kids credits as a monthly allowance so that they could afford some of the items or things they needed.
For Zayn and Veronica they were only able to skim by with the credits they had. So they weren't able to afford everything then needed. If the military were to take their credits it would be extremely worse then death.
So Veronica was trying to prevent that from happening by finding Zayn.
That's when she felt the shake of an earthquake vibrating her body and bones. It was very odd and peculiar however because they're no earthquakes in Florida.
This worried Veronica because she can only think how Zayn would react to this and why she was even more determined to find him.
She began running toward the source of the vibrations. Hearing the sound of her footsteps on the grass and her hair swishing in the wind. It was truly a scene from a movie.
But that all ended when she saw the origin of the vibrations.
She walked up toward the massive sinkhole that was formed in the middle of the prairie. It felt like her heart stopped at that moment when she saw it.
'What if he fell in there?!?'
Veronica was worried sick about her brother and praying that he didn't fall in. She stepped up closer toward the gigantic sinkhole that was now in front of her. But she help but gasp.
Right in the sink hole there was a destroyed mech that was covered in humongous boulders and right next to it was some foot prints leading to a near by cave system.
She didn't know what to do. Should she go in there and find her brother? Or should she go and tell the general that her brother got lost in a sinkhole/cave system?
That when she saw two mechs coming toward her location. She quickly ran over to a nearby grass field, so now she was hidden.
Right in time the two mechs arrived at her previous location and observed the sinkhole.
[14, WE NEED TO SOUND THE ALARMS. THERE SEEMS TO BE A STUDENT INSIDE THE SINKHOLE SOMEWHERE.]
The robotic voices were so cold and disturbing that Veronica couldn't bare listening to it and instead covered her ears with her hands.
[AGREED 27, WE MUST ALSO REPORT BACK TO THE GENERALS THAT NUMBER 11 HAS BEEN DESTROYED.]
[IN THE MEAN TIME WHAT SHOULD WE DO ABOUT THE FALLEN STUDENT 14?]
[WE MUST GO INTO THE CAVE SYSTEMS, TRACK HIM DOWN, AND ELIMINATE THE STUDENT BEFORE ANY DISRUPTION OCCURS.]
Hearing those words, Veronica started to cry while the mechs signaled the generals that a student was to be eliminated.
Sirens starting going off and the two mechs descended into the bottomless sinkhole that her brother had fallen into.
She had to do something. But in the end, what could she do? She was going up against two mechs. Huge abominations that could beat her into a pulp or turn her to ash with a single missile.
What could she do?
That's when it hit her.
What if she tries to recreate gunpowder or some type of explosive so that she could use it to blow up the cavern and destroy the mechs.
And there would most like me a way out for her brother to get out it's a win-win!
So Veronica then started concentrating on creating gunpowder and it was difficult to say the least.
