Chereads / BOYS OF A STAR / Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

As the night grew darker, we were speeding with the motorbike on a busy motorway of the Kawaakari city. I sat behind Sonya while she was in control of the purple-black motorbike. I watched the city lights enlightening the dark sky as we drifted between the cars.

Sonya was wearing black jeans and a denim jacket over her purple tank top. And, I was wearing a blue hoodie and blue jeans, with my converse shoes.

She got faster even though she saw the red light in front of us. But, she quickly leaned right, pulling the motorcycle's steering, making a small angle with the surface of the road. I squint my eyes shut and held Sonya tighter as the motorbike got closer to the ground.

Continuously, we turned right until the motorcycle headed to the opposite direction, making a U-turn. She leaned the bike to left, securing its position back to normal.

"That was crazy!" I shouted happily in relief while my bangs were getting pulled back by the wind.

"Yeah, isn't it? You have no idea what other skills I have." Sonya guffawed heartily, and her laugh made me laugh as well.

The motorbike reached its max speed while we passed through the bridge over the dark sea from one side of the city to the other side. I watched the last star remained in the sky above the magnificent skyline of the city. The precious star seemed beautiful yet alone.

I held Sonya's waist tightly as the motorcycle accelerated through the bridge. And I closed my eyes feeling the innocent breeze messing up my hair.

After we passed the bridge, we took the road on the left which led us to a narrow street with fewer lights.

She slowed down and parked the motorbike next to a small house with a huge beautiful garden. The roses over the garden wall were leaning towards the sidewalk covered with autumn leaves.

"This place is beautiful." I shut my eyes, inhaling the cold night breeze.

"It's my secret house." Sonya took off her magenta coloured helmet, holding it under her arm.

"I forgot you were rich for a second." I joshed.

She laughed heartily, as she unlocked the front door, letting me in. The walls of the house were all covered with famous artworks by legendary artists. On the other hand, there were also some unique artworks drawn on the walls.

"This way." Sonya opened a wooden door which led us to the amazingly designed kitchen. The flower pots filled with flowers in every colour were everywhere.

The kitchen was slightly dim as some of the lights were off.

"So... How are you feeling lately?" Sonya sat on one of the bar stools, grabbing some tea for me and herself.

"Thanks, I feel really great right now but was feeling so much worse before you came." I sat on the other bar stool around the white dining table.

"I saw you on the other day going to the Komorebi cafe. I tried to warn you but you didn't hear me I guess." She took a sip from her tea.

"How did you know that going to the Komorebi cafe would be bad for us?"

"Komorebi cafe is a cursed place. Everyone knows that."

"Well, I didn't know that." I sighed as I began drinking my tea, feeling relieved.

"Some say, in the Komorebi cafe people can have a series of visions from the reality which happened before or will happen in the near future." Sonya said, looking into my eyes.

"That's weird." I gulped anxiously as it reminded me of the night at the Komorebi cafe.

"Yeah you might be right." She laughed.

I took the last sip from the hot cup of tea, "It was amazing thank you. It's better for me to leave right now."

"How you gonna go home by yourself?" She turned her eyes on me.

"I can... walk. I mean... I can take a bus, but... no... I can walk. Yeah." I vacillated as I was being indecisive.

"Come on Karu. I'll drive you home." Sonya laughed heartily and she opened her beige coloured bag, picking up her keys.

She flipped the keys as she walked outside. I went after her and I realised that it was colder than before, colder enough to make me shiver.

I sat behind her on the motorcycle, holding her tightly, while she started the engine.

We speeded through the same streets and the same bridge we came from. Most of the lights in the skyscrapers I saw were off, along the way.

Eventually, we reached my apartment, she parked the motorbike on the pavement next to it.

"Thank you so much." I thanked with a smile on my face, while I got off the motorcycle.

"We should do this again sometime later." She looked into my eyes as her blonde hair was flying by the blowing wind.

I beamed happily back at her while she rode the motorbike away from me. I watched her leave until she was no longer visible from my point of view.

The cold wind blew onto me, so I quickly rushed to the front door of our apartment.

After finding my keys from the pockets of my blue jeans, I unlocked the door.

I attempted to turn the lights on but it didn't work, the room was dark. The moonlight was entering through the ripped curtains of the living room and the walls of the room were covered with blood and claw marks.

The blue couch we used to sit was broken into two and the windows were broken. I tried not to step onto the glass pieces as I walked into the bathroom.

There was blood on the walls and the mirror I used to look at was broken into pieces.

Tears shimmered in my eyes as I looked for my friends, but there was no sign at all. Every room was empty and every corner there was blood.

"Guys?" I shouted to make myself heard.

"Paikek?"

"Bomyu?"

"Seanyung?" I called their names continuously but it felt like nobody was around.

It was middle of the night, I didn't know what to do. Everything felt so overwhelming, making me cry out loud.
