The bathroom was crowded as Mu Shengchen leaned back against his chair. Peeking in, you can see a small woman reaching out for his chin with a razor in her hand. Others would have been baffled at the sight, but there really was one reason for it all–
Ning Qianyu had volunteered to shave him.
Wrapping a clean towel around the man's neck, she used another warm towel to pat down his chin. She smeared the shaving cream all over his skin before holding the razor close to his skin.
With a deep breath, she began her work.
Everything was done skillfully and carefully. It was also done in close proximity. Everytime her eyelashes fluttered, they tickled the side of his cheeks. And every time he breathed, his breath fanned against the side of her lips.
Mu Shengchen's gaze was fixated on her face. He analyzed every inch and corner of her features as if he was drinking her in. He had met many beautiful women in his life, but none of them could compete with her beauty–that was for sure.
"What are you looking at?" Noticing his gaze, she stopped moving.
"You," he said without hesitation.
Ning Qianyu turned beet red as she brushed the razor across the side of his face. "Shut up," she mumbled. "I'm trying to be serious here."
The glare she shot him could resemble a child wanting his way done. It was a funny sight that even Mu Shengchen couldn't help but laugh lightly with. His chin trembled viciously, causing her hand to sway and leaving a small cut across his skin.
A red liquid seeped out of the snow white foam, and she froze.
"Crap!" she cursed under her breath, jumping back from the panic. "Wait! I remember we have a first-aid kit here somewhere. I just don't remember where..." Just as she was about to sprint out of the washroom, he immediately held her down.
"It's just a cut," he comforted. "I'll be fine."
"How is that fine? You're bleeding! God, I'm so stupid, I shouldn't have–" Before she could finish, he tilted her head up and kissed her right on the lips.
There was something about the smell of aftershave and toothpaste that distracted her. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he drew her up against his chest. Soon enough, the cut was forgotten by the couple as they found themselves entangled in the bathroom.
If not for the urgent doorbell, they would've already found themselves in the bedroom for a follow-up.
Mu Shengchen immediately let go of Ning Qianyu, breathing out.
"I–I'll go open the door." Without bothering to wait for his reply, the young woman sprinted out of the washroom as if she were running away from the cops. Hints of aftershave trailed across her chin as she did so, but she didn't look like she noticed.
Outside the door, Ye Xi immediately greeted her, "Good morning, Young Madame. How are..." As soon as he got a good look at her, he stopped talking.
"What?" It was only when she followed his line of sight to the dribble across her chin and shirt did she finally scream. Closing the door behind her, she sprinted back into the bedroom.
"Young Madame?" Even Ye Xi was left dumbfounded at the sight. Not only did he get to witness such confusion, but he was also locked out for it. "What's going on?"
Ning Qianyu hurried into the washroom as fast as she could. There, she saw that Mu Shengchen was still waiting for her. "I...Let me fix that real quick. Assistant Ye is waiting for you," she said.
Untying the towel around his neck, she used the other warm cloth to wipe the foam off his chin. The cut on his chin was immediately exposed, serving as a large flaw on his previously perfect skin.
With a frown, she placed a cartoon band-aid on top of his chin.
"I don't need that," he protested. The last thing he needed was that cartoon band-aid to stick on his chin for the whole day.
"Please, for the wound to heal quickly," she insisted.
Mu Shengchen wanted to refuse. He really did. However, one look at Ning Qianyu's bright and wistful gaze, he could already feel his resolve crumbling. With a sigh and a frown, he allowed her to stick the band-aid onto his skin. "Fine," he murmured, blinded by her bright smile
"You should go," she said happily once everything was done.
With a shake of his head, he carried the briefcase and opened the front door. Ye Xi immediately grabbed the bag from his hands. "What happened to Young Mistre-" he immediately stopped saying anything as soon as he got a good look on his boss's face. His eyes were so wide that they threatened to pop out of their sockets.
Was he seeing right? Was the Young Master wearing a cartoon band-aid on his chin? He blinked again to see that he wasn't dreaming. What the hell? Was the world turning sideways?
There was only one person who could get him to wear that.
"What are you looking at?" Mu Shengchen snapped. "Are we not leaving?"
"Nothing, Sir." Coughing, he lightly pushed him towards the elevator.
Young Madame was truly a wonder.
Not long after he had left, Ning Qianyu decided to also leave the apartment to see her mother.
Ning Shujun was eating her breakfast when her daughter came over. "Qianyu." She frowned in concern as her eyebrows furrowed over. "Are you feeling better already?"
Huh...She had initially been preparing herself to face her mother's wrath and interrogation. The last thing she expected was for her to be all caring and considerate. That meant...
That meant that Du Zhongyu didn't inform her mother of the agreement she made with Mu Shengchen. She breathed a sigh of relief. It was better this way. It wouldn't be good for her recovery anyway.
"I...How did you know I was sick?" she asked.
"I called you yesterday, but Shengchen was the one who answered." She put her chopsticks on the table. "He said you were sick."
"It's just a little fever. He's the one who made such a fuss, only to fall ill in the end too." The corners of her lips curled into a smile as she shook her head. His words still echoed in the back of her mind.
"All of you got sick?" Ning Shujun stared at her disapprovingly. "Has he recovered? Why aren't you taking care of him now?"
"He hasn't fully recovered yet, but he went to work at the company. That's why I came to see you," she slowly said, sitting down by her hospital bed. "How are you feeling?"
"He's going to work while he's sick?"
"You know how busy he is."
The older woman pursed her lips. "Then why don't you head back and prepare lunch for him? I'm sure he'd appreciate that even more," she insisted, shaking her head in disapproval. "You should be taking good care of yourself."
"I'll go," she slowly said, resisting the urge to roll her eyes.
The two exchanged a few more words before Ning Shujun finally chased her out of the ward.
"She really is a nagger," Ning Qianyu murmured to herself as she stepped out of the elevator, shaking her head. Although her mother meant well, sometimes she could be a little too much.
Suddenly, a voice sounded from behind her, "Classmate Ning, why are you here?"
Ning Qianyu looked up to see Mo Yan with some doctors and nurses. Among them were a few colleagues she had known while working in the hospital. Her hands fidgeted as she approached him.
"Professor Mo Yan," she greeted respectfully.
Not seeing the awkwardness of her features, he walked right beside her. "Why are you in the hospital? Are you not feeling better?"
"Huh?" She furrowed her eyebrows.
"I remembered someone calling for you a few days ago asking for a leave." He had initially wanted to ask her who was the person who had helped her in asking for a leave, but he didn't feel as if it was the right time to ask. Instead, he remained silent. "Are you feeling better?"
It must be Mu Shengchen. "My Mom's hospitalized here, so I came to see her." She glanced at the documents in his hand. "I may have seen you in a bad time. I should leave."
However just as she was about to go, he stopped her. "You actually came at a perfect time," he exclaimed. "I'll be giving a lecture here, so it's good that you follow me. To catch up on your lessons, of course."
