(Jacob POV)
I felt every single moment pass by slowly as the claws tore through my face ripping my eye out of my skull. I could not dodge the sudden attack. But my instincts took over almost immediately. I had my wand in my hand, and I pointed it toward whatever was attacking me. I could sense its approximate position.
"Retrudere" I shouted and a blazing violet light emitted from the tip of my wand.
"GAAAAHHH UGHHHH." I heard the scream of an animal. I had hit the target. I distanced myself with a quick leap and yanked the eye patch right off my other eye. Luckily only my left eye was damaged. The Odin's eye was fine. I threw away the eye patch and pulled out my knives.
"Lumious." I chanted and the blades started to glow. The light emitted from them illuminated the entire corridor. That was when I took a glance at the attacker. And saying that I was astonished would be an understatement. I simply could not believe my eyes. What was in front of me, I had never seen such a creature. It was weird. Like a patchwork. Even in the dim light, I could clearly see the stitches holding all the different body parts together. My spell had pushed the creature back and to my luck, one of the bars that I had broken before from the cell had somehow impaled the weird creature. It was trying to get the long pole out of its body but was failing miserably. The wound on my face was closing. But I was not gaining my sight back. I could heal my wounds, but I could not regenerate lost body parts. My eye was lost and I would not get it back unless Ann helped. I knew for a fact that she could heal my eye perfectly, so I was not much worried about it.
I slowly walked towards the creature. I still could not understand what creature it was. To do that I needed closer inspection. I trod towards the creature slowly, daggers in both my hands.
The weird creature was still trying to get the pole out of its body. It tried to pull out the pole using both its hand and feet. Struggling for a bit it finally succeeded. The pole came out of its body and fell on the floor. The creature immediately shot up and glued itself to the wall.
Its blood trickled down the wall and fell on the floor. I could see a gaping hole in its chest, but it did not care about its pain. I could tell that the only thing on its mind was to hunt me. But I too did not have the luxury to play with it. I had to get to the bottom of this mess. There was the issue of the dead vampire, the issue of Dracula coming here, and above all the issue of these children. And the only people who could satisfy any of my queries were the people who were hiding deep in the complex.
"I would be really grateful if you would let me pass." I spoke.
"GGGGRRRRRRRR." But I received only a growl in response.
"Well, I did try to sort things peacefully. And that was after you took one of my eyes." And with that, I pointed one of the daggers toward the creature. "Stupify." I chanted and a light flew out of my dagger.
The spell hit the wall because the creature had simply vanished from the place. It was fast. Like really really fast. In but a moment it was behind me.
It was really fast, but I was faster. By taking out my eye, it had dug a hole for itself so deep that there was no bottom to be seen. The creature was in trouble I was already fast enough to keep up with its speed but when combined with the powers of my right eye, I could easily predict its movements. The fight was completely one-sided. As it leaped at me from the back, I simply crouched to dodge the attack. It came in front of me due to the momentum. I grabbed one of its legs and smashed the creature into the ground.
"UUUUGGGHHH." The creature made another weird noise. But there was something else.
(Huh...… wait what was that?)
There was a feeling, a feeling of discomfort whenever I came face to face with that creature.
As I let go of the leg the creature immediately rolled on its back and used its hands to jump and within seconds it was gone from my sight.
(it sure is fast but.... What the hell is this uncomfortable feeling.)
The creature hid in a dark corner. I could clearly see it because of my powers. Then it started to run on the walls. Gaining acceleration. It jumped from one wall to another speeding up. And then it started to attack. It did not stop for even a moment. It jumped from one wall to another, came down to the floor, and slashed at me. And then jumped again to disappear into the darkness once more. I
could follow its movements completely. So, I needed only minimal movement to dodge its attacks. I could have taken it down any time but I needed to find the source of this uncomfortable feeling. I knew I was getting the feeling from the creature I was fighting but why?
We played the game of hide and seek for another five minutes but I could not figure anything out. The creature had lost a lot of blood but now the bleeding had stopped. The wounds were slowly healing. It had healing abilities. Truly a weird creature it was.
"Let's end this. I have more important things to do." I said as the creature leaped towards me. It landed on the floor behind me and then with another swift leap slashed my back. But before its slashes could reach me, I rotated myself to face it and simply landed a heavy kick in its stomach.
"AAAAAhhhhh ghhhhhhh hhhh." The creature did not scream.
It simply lost its breath. I knew that the kick had hit it really hard. Although I had held back a bit. I did not want to kill the weird creature. The creature was coming at me with breakneck speed, and I had used its momentum against it.
The creature flew back. Flipped and landed on its feet coughing blood.
"HAH...…" I could not help but laugh. "I am impressed that you are still standing. I believe that the kick has broken a few of your ribs...…. If you have any. And yet you are willing to fight me." The creature was truly resilient.
"So now what?" I asked as if it could understand me.
The creature obviously did not respond. It simply stood there doing nothing. Seemed as if it knew that it could not beat me. Maybe it had given up. But my hopes shattered as the creature jumped again at me.
"Oh come on." Now I was irritated. I placed my daggers back and decided to face it barehanded. The creature swung its claws at my face, but I was not giving up my other eye. I moved my head to the side a bit and with one of my hands, I grabbed its claw. It was going nowhere now.
Seeing that it was trapped, the creature swung its tail at me. It was like the stinger of a scorpion. But I used my other hand to grab it as well. And then I gave the creature a good swing before smashing it down on the ground. I twisted its arm behind its back and sat on it. The creature was in no position of moving.
"Now let's see what you do?" I spoke with sarcasm in my voice.
The creature thrashed around trying to free itself, but I was not going to let go. I had finally caught it after wasting so much time. Now I only needed to bind its hands. With a bit of difficulty, I restrained it using only one hand and my legs. I freed one of my hands and pulled out my wand. With a single spell, a rope made of light tied around its hands and tail and another around its feet. Now it was going nowhere. I got up and inspected my catch.
"What are you." I asked no one.
The creature was really weird. It had a tail like a scorpion or a manticore. Claws that were both different. Different eyes. All in all, it seemed like a patchwork of many creatures.
"I will look into what you are after I am through with all the stuff I have to do." Speaking this I turned around.
*GROWL*
"What now?????" I said irritated. "You can't run fr...…." A sudden sense of danger enveloped my mind and I turned quickly. What I saw was enough to blow my mind away.
I saw as the shining ropes made of pure magic disintegrated into small particles and got absorbed into the creature's body. The creature stood up and turned around. A strange black crystal embedded into its chest was giving off something that could only be described as black light. But what astonished me was not the crystal or the strange darkness it emitted. It was something that was only visible to me because of the Odin's eye. I saw as all the magic in the environment gathered around the creature. The darkness that was spreading from the crystal seemed to eat away at the light. And all the magic that was gathering around the creature simply entered the crystal as if there was a vacuum pulling the magic inside. I could not believe my eyes as all the wounds on the creature's body started to disappear. It was absorbing magic to heal itself. It was... eating magic.
*GROWL*
And after only a few minutes it was at its peak ready to attack me.
"How...…..?" I could not believe what I had seen. There was no way it was possible. It was unheard of and there was no way that it was possible now.
"HOW THE HELL DO YOU HAVE THE DEMONIC ATTRIBUTE." I shouted at the creature that responded with a single growl before jumping at me.
