Many who attend Curse Academy usually have unlocked their Anima or have learned how to make use of the possible fragments of it to benefit themselves in combat. One without either is considered weak and without a true place in C:A. Rumors even say that there was no merit to get those students into the school and they most likely turned up dead somewhere as a symbol of what happens to those who believe they may cheat their way to power.
In opposition to this, an Exousia by the name of Raishi Kaze established a new trial among the students called "Iudicium animi" or the Trial of Amino. His goal with this trial was to find a way to cheat the brain into being put under the same mental stress that would trigger the awakening of an Anima. It is notorious for its low survival rates, as the newest statistic said that only 14% of the Participants survived and only 7% of them actually evolved their anima to be called that of a Tier Second Anima. This trial is conducted within the confines of one's legion by the agents of the advisor or, in worse cases, the Advisor themselves. What one experiences in this trial may be but isn't limited too, torture, Minor forms of mutilation, Hallucinations, Death, insanity, etc. etc. it's just terrible but it is legal.
