I literally loathe cheer.
As soon as I and the rest of the girls who tried out for cheer stepped on the football field Taylah has been screaming at us like a wild banshee.
She has us run the track ten times, do one hundred jumping jacks, do three-minute planks, and do twenty sit-ups before she actually showed us the cheer we would be doing Friday.
I never wanted to go home so badly in my life.
I kept glancing at Nathan from time to time.
I couldn't get him out of my head, just thinking about him made my insides turn.
His eyes, his hair, his lips...
"Are you deaf?!" Taylah half screamed.
"I'm sorry, what?" I asked confused.
Taylah walked up to me and got so close to my face that I could feel her breathing.
"I asked if you were deaf."
"No—"
"Then why aren't you listening to me?"
I took a big breath and let it out slowly.
"I'm sorry it won't happen again."
"Good, now get out of my face and go sit on the sidelines, you're out for this one."
I felt myself getting angry, angrier than usual.
What the hell is wrong with me right now?
I tried taking breaths but it wasn't helping.
"Do you feeeeeel thatttttt?"
Who the hell is that?
I looked around to see who was talking to me.
the voice sounded so faint I could barely hear it.
"The anger inside of you will only grow and make you more powerful." the voice laughed.
I know the voice.
"You're the lady of darkness," I whispered putting my head down so no one can think I'm talking to myself like a creep.
She laughs again
"Now who told you that?"
"I read it in some Aramaic article of someone who had the same powers as I did. What do you really want from me? To possess my body?" I pondered.
"No, I only wish to make you stronger no strings attached. But it'll be your choice, if you want to become stronger than ever before, really know how to control your powers, then you'll have to go to the woods and set me free."
My breath hitched.
I immediately got up and started walking.
"Where the hell are you going!" Taylah yelled.
"To the bathroom" I replied without looking back at her.
I walked out of the field and into the near-empty school.
"What do you mean I have to set you free?" I questioned.
"It means what you just said. I am trapped in the cut-down tree trunk. I have been for one hundred years but you can change that."
I walked into the bathroom and looked to make sure it's empty.
"Why are you trapped? Why can't I see you but I can hear you? How do I even get you out?"
She chuckled "Nosy little thing, aren't you? I was hunted by a witch who hates me and everything supernatural. She caught me off guard and trapped me into a damn tree trunk. You are the only one that can hear me because of your abilities but I have to use all my strength to even talk to you so I can not do it all the time. And if you want to get me out you have to use your powers."
"I don't know how to use my powers I barely know what I can do."
"Let me tell you a secret. You are not the only one with your abilities. Your father has the same abilities as you. It didn't come from anywhere it was passed down to you genetically. I don't have much time but I have one more thing to tell you, you have to be careful. Now that you have activated your powers, hunters will now come for you and try to kill you and everyone you love."
"Someone is going to kill me?! Wait did you say my father HAS powers as in present tense?" I stared at my hands "he's alive?!!"
No answer
"Hello! Talk to me! I need more answers!" I said looking around.
Shit.
I stomped out of the bathroom.
What the hell am I going to do?
