While he didn't have much use of the tiger's body other than the meat, Devon took it upon himself to torture the red sword. For all the blood the sword had sucked from his body, he was going to have a little retaliation.
Call him childish, but Devon had his reasons… Based on the excitement he could sense from the red sword, Devon knew that the sword wanted the tiger's heart badly, and it could have gone ahead and fetched the heart out, but it chose not to.
Meaning, there was something the red sword wasn't letting Devon know. There had to be a reason, as every battle he had using the red sword, the sword would request of him to crave the heart out.
As long as he became stronger and so did his weapons, Devon didn't give a crap out of any fetish the sword had. But he just felt, he could use the red sword craving for the tiger's heart as a way to lure out information from the red sword.
