Chapter 11 - Soul Stuff is Tuff

Sanoka stared into a large room full of metal pads with big glowing boxs around them. The room was otherwise pretty empty, Sanoka scratched his head, he was rather confused, "Who am I gonna spar with, exactly?"

Eve smiled and lead him forward, "The soul bots."

"Soul bots?"

Eve pushed Sanoka into a glowing cube and started tapping on the cube. Sanoka figured there was screen on the other side. He turned around to see a mettalic, humanoid robot rising from the floor. The little trap door closed, and the cube rippled and changed to a transparent red. The robot got into stance and launched itself at Sanoka.

Sanoka activated his new plasmic claws and jumped forward, he adjusted his body and clawed the soul bots head while passing over it. Sanoka skidded on the ground as he landed and turned around. The soul bot raced towards Sanoka only to be sent flying with a turning kick. The bot bounced off the cube and shot itself towards his head. Sanoka jumped upwards and pushed off against the bot to turn himself around. He embedded his plasmic claws into the robots back and tore it's shiny, metal skin apart. The soul bot clattered to the floor as Sanoka landed peacefully on his hands and feet.

The cube rippled and reverted back to it's original blue colour. The soul bot healed it's wounds and stood back on the trap door. Sanoka stood up and reached for the sky as he yawned. "I thought it would last longer."

Eve smirked, "I was only gauging your ability."

"Say, I already have claws, so do these just do more damage?"

Eve started tapping on the cube again and replied, "It's a soul weapon, meaning it can damage other souls by prolonging the damage. Souls can heal themselves as soon as they receive damage, but the soul weapon temporarily stops that from happening."

Sanoka stared at the claws admiringly before he replied, "that means I can't use them in the competition, right?"

Eve smiled, "Wrong, soul weapons are encouraged, because they shorten battles, allowing the competition to go by quickly."

Sanoka was still puzzled though, "couldn't a soul weapon destroy a soul though?"

Eve rubbed the back of her head until her eyes lit up like lightbulbs, "It would be almost impossible to craft something that powerful."

"Has it ever been done before?"

"That singular weapon... was lost millenials ago. Don't worry about it. And besides, you can destroy souls, like twelve other souls in the entirety of Infernium can do that. Your an absolute beast, so it's a good thing I made you my pet before you could do anything."

Sanoka glared at Eve and then turned around to face the bot.

The cube rippled and became red once again. This time, the bot was armed with a metallic daggar, much like soul bots skin. The robot took a stance and leaped through the air, Sanoka punched the bot's abdomen which made it fly back a few feet. The robot landed in a crouch, giving Sanoka a mere second to attack. He dashed forwards preparing to bring the soul bot down, but the bot pivoted sideways causing Sanoka to miss. He kept running foward and ran up the cube and did a backwards dive off the wall and grabbed the bots head to twist it, unfortunately the soul bot hadd grabbed Sanoka's tail and smashed him on the ground. The robot was about to drive it's daggar through his back when Sanoka rolled to the side and kicked the bot off of him. He jumped upwards and leaped at the soul bot. He dug his soul claws into the bots shoulders and knee'd the bot in the groins. The bot brought it's daggar towards Sanoka's chest only to to have his head torn off. The cube rippled and became blue, and the soul bot resided on it's trapdoor once again.

Sanoka smirked at Eve, "That was a little better."
