The night was a puzzle to Kevin. He was lucid enough to know what was happening and to feel the sensations that he was feeling. This was not the first time he experienced something like this and he is more or less very numb at it. Powerless to do anything, he just let it happen with resignation.
Currently he is awake with the king at his side sleeping peacefully. It is hard to associate this girl—woman— the aggressive and sensual creature moments prior. She looked so peaceful and angelic at the moment that Kevin was simply too congested on what he should feel about the woman.
He felt so confused and so lost at what was happening. His mind was in jumbles as the scene of death flash on his mind all so vividly. He had to hold onto his body tightly to have a grip of his person. He is afraid he is no longer sane as he thinks he is. Truly this time he cannot pretend like nothing is wrong. That he just did not just commit something that many perverts were dreaming about for so many nights.
He had a bodily relationship with this woman whom he does not even consider ever being connected to. That fact has brought him more damage than the moment he is helpless at helping others who needed his help. He felt so disguited at himself that he cannot wait to drown himself to clean him from what has happened.
"System." Kevin called out feebly. "Take me away here."
The system did not answer him as fast as it usually does. No doubt it is gauging his state before it will respond. A clear indication that he is not really not okay. That his mind is not right and quite possibly at the verge of breaking down as they speak.
[As much as I want to I can't]
[I'm sorry host]
"Is that so?" Kevin felt so tired deep inside. He just knows his spirit is already wasted with how heavy he felt inside. If there is an opportunity he is sure to collapse and resign to fate just to stop the hollow inside. " I should have known you cannot do much. Help me get out here instead. I want to get away here and return home."
[As you wish]
His system then told him of the passage ways he could utilize to leave. He was even informed of the habits of the guards, their positioning and their shifts. And the most important information was where the exit of this mural world is. He just need to get there and he could have a breath a little better even if he has to torture his body to leave.
Checking that that green snake is not around and the king is actually asleep, he then used the skill he has just learned. Stalking the shadows and the gaps between the people's eyesight he steadily left the palace unimpeded. Once in a while his system will ring in his mind to warn him of patrols and dangers it has noticed. Perhaps it is the longest time he and his system has not broken into an argument and is actually working together seamlessly as they should have been in the first place.
In the whole way, the only thing that has posed them great trouble was the river that sustains the life of this city. They are well-aware that this river is connected to the king and to that snake somehow. Bypassing the area means alerting their captors in no time.
"How far is the exit?" Kevin said as he vigilantly took a well-concealed space a few dozen meters away from the river.
[It is just on the other side of the river host]
[We just need to bypass the raging water and we are done]
"But how can we do that without alerting those two?" Kevin bit his nails in frustration. "The moment the king wakes up without me in that room, she will inevitably give chase to us. She has done so before and she will definitely do the same again. With the amount of people she has under her, she will capture me back in just a matter of time."
"Then there's that snake. I dunno what is up with that reptile, but it has more than once shown its spirituality. It is currently unknown what it can do to me, but it can more or less kill me in one bite should it want to. I knew that it was only due to the king that I lived now. If it comes to know about my escape, it will surely kill me without any more consideration."
[There will be ships later that will transport the goods of this side of the river to the other side]
[If you are resourceful and skillful enough you can use that to get out here]
"But surely those people are the king's people right? They can easily capture me and present me to the king if I go that way." Kevin voiced out his worries as he saw the ship his system was saying. There is a soldier on the ship that could easily subdue him should they notice him hitchhiking their ride.
[Worry not that ship was of merchants. They can provide enough cover for you there]
[Only that you have to think how to go abroad without alerting the ones soldier on the ship]
"Easily said than done. What do you want me to do? Stuff myself to one of those cargoes?" Kevin said as his system tactly shut its voice.
Moments later, Kevin was squatting and doing his best not to move as much. He thought of directly going to the men and negotiating his way in. But the issue of language was the biggest obstacle he had. So stuffing himself to the many cargo of the merchants at the side of the ship for easy access of the river waters in the case of emergency. It was not a very sound thing to do at all.
"I so hate you." Kevin said as he was slapped by a horse's tail from where he was. How can he know that even livestocks were placed next to the box he has placed himself in? His system could have told him or warned him before he chose that particular box.
[I have no control over where you will be place host]
[Therefore your words are slander to me]
"What messy things have you been reading nowadays?" Kevin felt a sense of normalcy with him and his system. With them being like this he could momentarily forget his problems for a while.
[Some laws humans made. Some of them are so absurd that I am wondering what was on the maker's mind when they wrote it.]
"Well what do you expect?" Kevin does not want to argue on something that he has no part of. It is a useless endeavor that he does not want to waste his already disturbed brain cells.
The river journey was quite fast with him and his system bantering some words along the way. And at some time they finally arrived at the other side. Sneaking out was easier than going out. Just jumped onto the deck just as the men were busying themselves. For disguise he took some cargo like he was one of the unloaders and naturally blended with the flow of people. Placing the goods down to where it should be, he ran away at a turn in a corner.
"Now where do I need to go?" Kevin asked as he thinks he is far enough for the soldiers not to notice his disappearance. For greater assurance he used his skill to erase his tracks in the case they get to investigate him if they notice his lack of presence among the unloaders.
[We just need to get to the position where the tomb will be.]
[It is the boundary of the whole mural world]
[As long as you step there, you can leave this place as you want]
Kevin has a thoughtful face as he tries to remember the area where the tomb was. As it was not built during this time period, he is sure that it is one of those hills over the west side of the river. There was this strict positioning for a grave of a king or royalty from what he remembered. Following the setting of the sun as to indicate eternal rest, most of the time the tombs are always on the west side where the sun sets.
Furthermore the people here are not yet that prosperous to make the famous pyramid for their rulers. To provide the home for their king they will naturally choose a place where they will not be disturbed by the living.
Following this reasoning, Kevin immediately set off to the direction he thinks where the tomb will be placed. Not knowing behind him was a bunch of desert dwellers watching his every move. Among them is the eye-catching green snake Kevin has grown so acquainted with for some time now.
It sneakily followed his trail.
