The torment had just started though I hadn't made any error. I pursed my lips, stopped cutting my meat and breathed in deeply three times. I was still trying to keep my calm and forbearance while also remembering that I must avoid all eyes at all costs.
Yet every movement was killing me inside out, wishing me to act to save myself with the king's help and yet not, for if the man seated on my left found a way out, I would be at his mercy and regretting my decision for the rest of my life.
His hands still prowled on my leg and a moment later, he squished my thigh so tightly that I nearly dropped my knife. I had to bow my head and bury my head in my loosely tied hair to save my burning face.
His hand moved up my leg so tenderly that I clutched my knife and fork. When it went up much higher than any sane person would venture, I took the fork to stab his wicked hand. I held the fork hard enough to ensure that it didn't clatter to the floor and fluster me.
