My breath was caught in my throat as I locked eyes with the ruffled haired man. Although I glowered at him, he didn't waver one bit. Instead, he gave his bright smile, which hid his cunningness behind it.
"Did I become that interesting to you, milady?" he said with the same smile still carved on his glowing, sweaty face.
"Oh, Sir Holden," said the woman turning around on hearing him and giving him her deepest bow with a courtesy. "Good day to you, Sire."
"I wish you the same, Madam," he responded to her by meeting her eyes, still glancing at me. "What brings you to the Knight's Quarters? Were you looking for someone amongst my ranks?"
My disagreeable eyes went to scan her face, which appeared to be delighted. I scoffed and turned my head away from them both when I saw the occasional glimpses being directed in my way.
'If she matched me with him, it would be the death of me,' I said in my head and swallowed bitterly at the thought.
