Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Yalden Fletcher

Third Person's P.O.V.

"I'm Torii Denver... are you disgusted now?" Torii asked, looking at him directly in the eyes. Torii was expecting to be criticized... no, that was not the word. It's ashamed and humiliated.

"Torii Denver?" The man asked, and Torii nodded. "I'm Yalden Fletcher."

Awkward silence won around the entire house. Torii almost laughed, but he managed to keep his cool and took a deep breath.

"You..." Torii said, "Don't know me?"

"Uhm... I believe this is our first meeting, so... no?" Yalden innocently said.

"I'm Torii Denver, 18 years old, and I'm... my parents, they were killed because of drug trafficking... and you're saying that you don't know me? My parents and I were seen by over half of the population! Everyone is disgusted merely by looking at me, and you're saying you don't know the infamous Denver family?" Torii shouted, and the man was taken aback.

'What in the world Torii! Why did you shout!' Torii thought to himself.

"Let me ask you a question first. Are you part of the drug trafficking with your parents?" Yalden asked.

"No. I never even knew that drug trafficking was the one that kept us wealthy." Torii replied, looking down for he knew that he offended the man by shouting nonsense.

"Then what is the point of being disgusted to you? Your parents are the ones who did the wrong thing, and not you." Yalden sighed. "Master, you didn't do anything wrong. I don't get why everyone is hating you yourself when your parents are the ones who made the mistake. If I were given the chance to say something, I'll fight for the kid, since the parents left all the accountabilities, debt, and pain to that kid. Master Torii, you are a strong person, and I'm telling you that because you have managed to keep your sanity amidst all of the situations you are in. People's minds are too shallow, but you've managed to keep yourself together."

Torii's eyes, unconsciously, had tears forming in them. He never knew that there was a person who could understand him. His body froze right in front of the man, while the man struggled, thinking that he made Torii froze in a bad way.

"What in the world did I do... I'm so sorry Master Torii! Please move! I don't want my new Master to be frozen! I'm so sorry for what I said! Just please move and don't cry!" The man struggled, and Torii giggled.

"I'm alright. Don't you worry, Yalden." Torii smiled, wiping the tears that fell down from his eyes.

"That's a relief then." Yalden sighed. "Uhm... am I accepted to be your servant?" Yalden asked.

"What about friends?" Torii asked as he smiled.

Yalden's eyes got bigger, excitement running wildly in his veins. He smiled as if he got a new mansion for free while he looked to Torii.

"Y-yes!" Yalden shouted in joy, while Torii looked at him with a small but sincere smile. "What should I address you? Lord? Master? Or Supreme? Oh oh, Prince is good. Milord is fine too." He murmured as Torii sighed.

"I know you will never call me by my name alone, so the latter is fine." Torii gave up.

"Okay, Milord," Yalden added with a serious low voice. Torii rolled his eyes.

"Moving on, you are a Vanguard, am I right?" Torii asked. Yalden nodded.

"That is right, Milord. I use a spear as my weapon, and my Flair is Sproutation. Uhm, sorry to disappoint you, but I can only project eyes, nose, ears, mouth, and arms. Furthermore, I can only sprout on any solid matter, including the human body without damaging so. Luckily, I can control the sprouted parts of my body freely as if they were an extension of mine, though I can't move it as long as it already has sprouted. Also, if the said sprouted parts of my body are damaged, no matter how little or serious it is, the same goes for my body. Though, even if I am already injured, if I sprout a body part, it will turn out completely non-damaged." Yalden explained. "Sorry to disappoint you, Milord, but this the only thing I can do..."

"Woah, why are you saying your Flair to me? I mean, this is the new world. Revealing your Flair is like showing your weakness." Torii disciplined Yalden. "Also, what do you mean? Your Flair is so great I almost envy you! I mean, you can basically assassinate everyone you see, and you can eavesdrop as much as you want. Man, I wish I have a Flair like yours." Torii said.

"Is my Flair really good?" Yalden asked with hope in his eyes.

"No power is weak when used properly, Yalden," Torii said, almost as if he was an old man. 'Goodness, I sound like an old man.' Torii thought to himself.

Yalden rejoiced on what he has heard, for all this time, -- although it was only half an hour -- he thought that he is useless... again.

"One last question. Are you really sure about this? I mean, your life is at stake, you know? Plus, we've only met for like, 2 minutes only, and you already trust me like I'm your family." Torii asked concernedly.

"Of course, Milord. Although I know that I am foolish enough to let someone take over me, I believe that you are a good person. Plus, the fact that you never killed me, although you can, shows that you are not a bad person, at the very least." Yalden replied.

"You trust people so easily. I can stab you in the back when you completely trust me. Also, I can kill you right here right now you know?" Torii said.

"But still haven't done it. And I will always believe that you never will. I can see it in your eyes." Yalden said as he looked Torii in the eyes while smiling.

"Fine" Torii sighed. "But don't you ever trust anone so easily."

"Anything for you, Milord."
