Chapter 7 - Chapter 6: Red dye people

"Like I said, you need to channel your will to the relic in order to use its power."

Morgia is instructing me on how to activate each relics. Although it's easy once you heard how to, the method and process is more complex than you initially thought.

Roman is with Masro and they are having their one on one session too. Unlike me who needs instruction on activating the relic, Roman entered the Institution with the know-how. Morgia is responsible for the lessons while Masro is responsible for combat skills. But that doesn't mean that Morgia is not a battle instructor.

"Focus. Don't look at them." Being a strict instructor as she is, she flicked my forehead with a stern expression.

I closed my eyes once again and tried my best to think something that can spark a slight inspiration but I can't seem to think straight right now. Besides, relics needed to be in synch with the wearer but in my case it is impossible to synchronize with it without knowing its background.

It is actually usual for a relic to have a background since there are forge in a specific timeline with a story behind. The background itself is hard to figure out since relics tend to have different feelings or attachment due to its residual aura.

"Don't you have any other method?"

"Unfortunately" She shook her head and left me to talk to Masro.

They both know what my problem is and I'm also aware. Other than the relic's background, simple mind makes no strong will. The weaker my will is, the less chance to activate the relic.

It's like an empty vessel that will react on a strong will. The more fighting spirit you have, the stronger the relic is.

I walked to the bench with a cold expression and watched how Roman move. He's got more experience in using his relic since he acquired it probably much earlier than me.

'Well, a hitman won't be a hitman without power. I'm pretty sure that he knows the extent of his abilities'

Combat skill is not a problem in my case since back in my old world I used to join a gang. Of course I learned martial arts to protect myself since gang fight is quite active in our turf. It's quite a plot twist in my previous life to be honest.

"You're giving up?" Morgia approached me with sympathetic look on her face.

Looking at her sympathetic look, I noticed the features of everyone present here do not differ from each other. In fact, aside from my pale skin, Masro do resemble me a lot. Meanwhile, Morgia and Roman both have red crimson hair that flutters when they move.

"Just for a couple of days. I'll need to think first."

"Then why don't we talk about something else? Maybe a little history of our curse will do."

Hearing the word 'Our Curse' quickly piqued my interest. It seems like the features we all have got a deeper story than I actually know.

I smiled slightly and moved slightly to the side to give Morgia a space to sit down.

"That might help." I said.

She smiled and sat beside me.

"Have you heard about the cursed Red dye people?"

I just shook my head to respond and she simply nodded before continuing to enlighten me.

"In fact, we are the holder of the curse, Alice. We are the Red dye tribe"

The Curse of Red dye tribe. It is a historic curse that happened in ancient times. It is believed to be a curse from Gods and Goddesses that they bestowed to a certain continent. The people who lived there was prosperous in magic and alchemy. The continent itself is very blessed with mana.

But humans are greedy creatures and so they trapped all the mana in their continent which almost dried up the whole continent itself. The mana is stored in a huge sphere and they use that mana to fight the other nations.

They used slaves and human lives for their experiments and tried to accumulate more natural mana. Soon their land's prosperity vanished as they swept all mana away from the continent itself.

The Gods and Goddesses were off course angered by their preposterous acts. Their rage overflowed and bestowed a curse on the whole continent. They said that a Blood Rain started and drenched all the people inside that continent. The rain itself is the curse that swept all the mana outside the bodies of humans.

As soon as the rain stopped, they discovered that they lost their magic abilities. Their eyes and hair was dyed in red that will remind them the sins they made.

The Gods felt satisfied but not the God of Death. He may be the God of Death but he also knows how precious life is and how futile it would be if they live in a dangerous world without power. He felt pity for the humans and bestowed power within the Red dye people.

But these actions only made the situation more complicated. The curse bestowed by Gods turns out to merge with the bestowed power by the God of Death. It gained its own consciousness! Its own ego was born from a curse and gift.

The Red dye tribe soon left their continent and parted ways. They scattered around the world and soon died in the most painful death as possible. But the curse won't leave the world even if its task is finished. It soon entered the wombs of their chosen victims and dyed the babies out of its own volition. And out of negligence of the Gods and Goddesses the curse still wander around the world without any restraints and victimize innocent babies.

"That's the reason we exist up until today."

"Both Gods and humans sure are stupid."

She chuckled for a bit as she heard my statement. It's true anyways. They both made stupid mistakes that they can't even undo.

Now I'm sure why Von Grettes family hated and disposed Alice Von Grettes. A noble family cannot stand to have a cursed child within their household as they see themselves as pure creatures.

The class ended like that and we didn't even notice the time. Roman and I changed back to our uniforms and excused ourselves to Morgia and Masro.

Roman looked at me without any interest as we walk back into our classroom. We are only going back since we need to have an election for class representative and other stuffs.

"How's my bounty Romandis Bairon?"

I smiled slyly and glanced at him before entering the room. He seems to be petrified in his position but I don't give a damn. This is a warning for him and his colleagues. If they want me dead, they should expect the same thing to happen to themselves.

Leo waved his hands and approached me as soon as I entered the room. He's smiling from ear to ear and I think I know the reason why.

"How's your major?"

"Psh! You just want to brag that you're with Veronica."

"Y-you witch! How did you know?"

He whispered with surprise visible in his face. This guy is so easy to read.

"You were smiling from ear to ear just now." I bluffed and caressed his soft ears.

He turned red and ran back at his seat. Red head sat beside me without any words before the meeting started.

There are only few positions to fill and I'm not planning to take any of that. Veronica was the one handling the election but it's only until we decide on who will be the class representative.

It was obvious that Calster Mc Gryrre will be the representative so no one argued after winning in majority votes. We at least need someone who acts properly and everyone seems to know that.

"Let us now vote for the pillars of class 425."

Calster fixed his falling glasses gently. A girl raised her hand and stood up when she was called.

"I actually talked about this with those in Magis department and we think that Lady Alice Von Grettes and Romandis Bairon of Ragnar Department are well suitable for a pillar."

"Very we--"

"I refuse."

"I object."

Red head and I stopped Calster's approval right after the girl finished her sentence. They all flinched when they heard our short and somehow cold response.

"You should join Sir Bairon. Someone strong is needed as a pillar."

I smiled full of annoyance as I look at Red head.

"Ragnars are always strong Von Grettes so don't point your fingers on me."

I clenched my fist as he responded with his poker face. It seems like a war is about to happen as we gaze into each other when Calster refuted.

"This is an election so it's not fully decided yet. " His retort made me roll my eyes mentally and I didn't say anything else after that.

The nomination continued to go on and Leo's name was also dragged in. The nomination lasted for a few minutes before it was finally decided. I could only grit my teeth as I look at the final result of the election.

"The pillars of class 425 will be Leonardo Decintis of Magis department, Alice Von Grettes of Ragnar department, Romandis Bairon of Ragnar department and lastly, Rex Basillos of Knights and Archers."

Others clapped their hands as they heard the official pillars of our class. But what caught my attention is the worried face of Rex Basillos the run-away prince of Cavalier Kingdom.
