"At first I won't lie, I thought you treated me the way you did because you didn't like me for Jasmine but Alfred made me understand things better," Jackson spoke in a tone that showed he wasn't angry at Mr Avans.
"What did he say that made your opinion of me change?" Mr Avans asked curiously.
"He said what you were doing was a part of your training to make me an ideal son-in-law and future father. After thinking for a while I agreed that he was very correct," Jackson said not going into details of what he and Alfred spoke on that faithful night.
"Alfred sure knows me better than anyone else," Mr Avans said smiling. Seeing Mr Avans smile for the first time, Jackson could not help but find him more handsome and approachable compared to that fierce expression he always had on.
Jackson smiled along with him. None of them uttered a word afterwards. They stayed this way for close to four minutes before Mr Avans started talking again.
