Chapter 1 - Prologue: I’ll find you

Year: 2000

Samantha Reynolds stared out the window into the darkness that surrounded her Maryland home. This past week had been the hardest week of her life. Made even harder by the hormones that went along with her growing belly. She reached out to rub her lower abdomen happy that through it all the baby seemed to be doing fine. One comfort knowing that she hadn't lost this child too.

It started with a simple play date at the park with her toddler son, Grant. He was playing with some of her friends children and the Moms were enjoying some adult conversation while they played. Samantha was glad she was finally feeling well enough to be out of the house and away from the bathroom.

When Samantha looked up to check on her son again, he wasn't where he had been a couple of minutes previous. She stood up to go look where he had gone to play. After a few minutes she couldn't find him and her friends all started looking with her. They asked the other children and they didn't know where he'd gone, but pointed to where they last saw him. After they had looked over the whole park starting where the children had pointed and not found Grant, they called the police.

After the police had searched and talked to everyone at the Park, Grant was still nowhere to be found. Samantha broke down into her husband's arms as soon as he'd arrived. They were told it was probably a kidnapping for ransom and they should go home to wait to be contacted. The Police were still looking and had called the FBI to come help. They normally waited until it was confirmed to be kidnapping, but the Reynolds family were well known and they wanted to get all resources available to help find their son.

As Samantha stared into the darkness just one week later, they still had not been contacted. There were no leads, and she knew they didn't want to tell her they had only met dead ends. She knew that as each day wore on the chance of finding her precious son went down. She clung to hope that he was alive somewhere out there, she was not giving up. Standing by the window she vowed, Grant, My Son, I will find you. I will do everything I can to bring you home.
