"Hmm, it seems that my avowal card isn't working like it should." Ollie said to himself, he had been led around in a circle for the past five minutes and he kept on arriving on the same spot.
Ollie held up the card to the cover the light on the celling as he shook the card and the red arrow pointing left dropped down dispersing into several tiny red balls that fell on the carpet in the halls.
Ollie shook the card again and blew on it. The card seemed to have reset as another red arrow appeared on it, but this time pointing right.
"That's better." Ollie said to himself as he smiled and continued on in the right direction, he was sure that he would find his piece soon.
...
"Right again?" asked Matt to himself as he walked alone through the empty halls. He felt as if he was lost, blindly following the leadings of the card. This was the fourth time in a row that he had been told to go right, he was wondering if his card was working fine or not.
Matt's ears twitched as he looked up. He could hear soft footsteps right above where he was, judging from the pattern of the footsteps and how light they were, he was able to know for sure that Annie was the one upstairs.
"I hope that Annie's having a better time figuring out how these directions work." said Matt as he continued walking, he looked down at the card as it stopped in front of a door and the card continued pointing straight ahead.
Matt decided to open the door as he walked into what seemed to be a lounge room, he looked around oblivious to the fact that there was a forming black cloud above his head.
He decided to search through the room as the black cloud continued following him while forming. Matt bent down to check underneath the coffee table and that was when he heard the rumbling sound of thunder and before he could realize what was going on, he was drenched head to toe in water by the raining cloud.
"What in the...??" he asked himself as his hair fell below his eyes and the rain cloud disappeared.
"Is this part of the game or what?!" he asked himself wondering how this was fun in any way.
he got up as he removed his wet hair from his eyes and he snapped his fingers instantly becoming dry. He looked down at his card as the direction had changed leading him out of the room.
"There better not be another attack like that. I did not sign up to be drenched unnecessarily." he said as he shook his head.
...
"Am I sure that I'm going in the right direction?" Annie asked herself utterly confused, she was struggling to figure out if the cards directions were right based on the way she was holding her card.
When she turned the card upside down the arrow pointing right would switch to left and when she held it right side up, it switched from left to right.
Annie was baffled, she was sure that there was something wrong with the card, or maybe the card just wanted to play a trick on her, whatever it was, she certainly was not pleased at all.
Annie stopped walking as she turned the card sideways and this time the arrow pointed up, She groaned in annoyance, she was sure that she had been walking for over thirty minutes now. The Castle was huge and she was lost, she could not return back to the nursery even if she wanted to.
"*Ugh* What in the world is wrong with this card?" she groaned.
"Oh forget it, I'll just continue walking straight ahead." she said as she continued on while shaking the card.
Annie stopped walking when she suddenly heard a whooshing sound move past her.
Annie's eyes went wide in suspicion as she looked around and heard the sound again.
Now she was on alert, she was sure that she was alone and she was uncertain that it could be any of the others causing this noise.
Annie felt something tell her to look down at the card and as she did she was surprised to see what looked like a drawing of wind coloured brown.
She was confused when the whooshing sound became even louder and as she looked up, she was faced with a forming sand tornado. Annie wasted no time at all as she took off running in the opposite direction.
Alas the tornado was quickly forming and speedily following after her. Annie did not dare look back, she just kept on running and running hearing the tornado loudly behind her.
In an instant she was enveloped by the tornado as she stopped running and covered her eyes feeling herself being hit by several tiny grains of sand.
As she was searching her mind for a spell to disperse the tornado, it suddenly it disappeared on its own leaving her plagued by sand all over her face, her hands and her hair.
"What in the world was that?!" Annie asked herself as she spit out the sand in her mouth and she shook her hair.
"My hair!" she cried as she tried to dust off all the sand in her hair. There was sand everywhere.
"This is so annoying." she said as she concluded that she would have to wash her hair before she went to bed.
Annie looked at the avowal card as it began to point to the left and she sighed following it, having no other choice.
...
"Hmm got you!" declared Ollie happily as he stopped at the end of the hall that was a dead end and right there on the ground was his game piece.
"Ha ha, I better get back to the board now." he said as he turned to the left and continued on his way.
Suddenly he felt a chill run down his spine as a strong gust of wind blew past him. Ollie did not waste any time at all as he took off, he could hear a strong wind forming behind him.
Ollie's eyes quickly scanned the hallway he knew he had only a few seconds before he would be blown to the celling. He found his escape route. He stopped running and speedily opened the door to a room on his right, staying in there for shelter while the wind passed him by.
"Better luck next time." Ollie said as he chuckled and walked out of the room. He wondered if the others had found their pieces yet.
...
"This is super annoying." Annie said as she entered into an empty lounge and found her piece on the coffee table, she picked it up and quickly went on her way, she did not want to be caught off guard by another tornado, who knew if it would be made of rocks this time?
...
"Got you" declared Matt happily as he found his piece behind a book on the bookshelf in yet another lounge.
"Now to get back to the board." he said happily as he closed the door of the lounge, his ears twitching, he was on alert, after all, he had been rained on for no reason, he was sure that he did not want that repeating itself again.
...
Matt had just finished rolling his turn when he heard Ollie walk through the door.
"Awww dude, you won, congratulations." Ollie said as he laughed just as Matt's piece moved to the finish line as a triumphant song and streamers appeared in the air along with the sound of fireworks.
"What's going on?" Annie asked as walked into the room.
"Matt just won, he's so lucky." said Ollie as he laughed.
"That's surprising." Annie said.
"Congratulations, how did you get here before us?" asked Annie as she smiled.
"I have no idea, I guess I'm just good with finding my way around." he replied as he smiled.
"Is that sand in your hair?" Matt asked in confusion as Annie was grimly reminded of her sandy problem causing her to frown.
"I was just attacked by a sand tornado that came out of nowhere!" Annie complained.
"Really? Well I was rained on as well!" Matt said as Annie scoffed.
"I had a strong wind following me, but luckily I dodged it. I think that I did mention that the game likes playing tricks right?" Ollie asked as he chuckled.
"Sure, but not tricks as harmful as these." Annie said.
"Oh those were not harmful tricks, far from it, the game is set on beginner, if it was harmful, there would have definitely been some damage to the Castle." Ollie chuckled.
"You should have mentioned that part dude." said Matt.
"Sorry, sorry, but it's late already, or else we would have played the game outside." Ollie said sheepishly.
"And maybe next time you should have taken some more time to explain all the rules to us." Annie said continuing to try to get rid of all the sand in her hair.
"Yes, that too... sorry guys..." Ollie chuckled sheepishly with a smile. Looking back, he should have totally explained the rules to them more.
"Next time we play, I will make sure that you know all the rules be—" said Ollie as he was suddenly cut off by a bloodcurdling scream coming from outside that made he, Annie and Matt turn their heads at the same time.
