"So Maddie, how is everything going with your mom?" asked Matt as he looked at Maddie as she ate her dinner.
"Honestly, annoying, she's just so nice and sweet that it makes me want to throw up, she's hugged me many times today" said Maddie as she frowned.
"And isn't that a good thing Maddie?" asked Matt as Maddie just looked at him with a glare.
"No it isn't" said Maddie.
"But I think that you should give her a chance, I mean she does seem nice" said Matt as Maddie scoffed.
"Firstly Matt, she might seem all nice and innocent now, but I know her, she's as ruthless as Azazel, believe me, I have many, many memories" said Maddie with a scoff.
"But she doesn't even know what she did, I am sure that if she knew she would apologize" said Matt.
"Oh you and Annie are just the same, might I remind you that I never agreed to get along with her, I only agreed for her to be here since Aunt Stella wants her to be safe from Selene, and that's it, I have no obligation to be all lovey and nice to her" said Maddie as she scoffed.
"Alright Maddie, alright, I hear you, I won't talk about this anymore" said Matt as he knew that it was irritating Maddie to talk about this.
"Good, thank you" said Maddie as she just wanted to eat her dinner in peace.
"But you do know that Annie and I are right, we all are" said Matt.
"Yeah, yeah whatever" said Maddie.
"Hey guys" said Annie as she smiled and she walked into the dining room, Maddie was surprised to say the least that she did not invite Clove to come with her.
"Hey Annie" said Matt as he smiled and Annie sat across him.
"Where is Ollie?" asked Annie as she looked around.
"I don't know, properly skipping dinner because of you know what" said Matt as Annie laughed and she shook her head.
"Maddie" said Annie as she looked at Maddie.
"You know, I am surprised that you didn't invite her" said Maddie.
"Well I did, but she said that she had something to do" said Annie as she smiled.
"Right, well I am going to eat dinner somewhere else, because I know where this is going, and I've already spoken to Matt, see you" said Maddie as she stood up, carried her plate and walked away.
"Oh Hi Curtis, bye Curtis" said Maddie as she smiled and she walked past Curtis who was walking into the dining room.
"Where is she going?" asked Curtis as he sat down beside Annie.
"She's running away because she doesn't want us talking about her mother" said Annie as she sighed and Curtis just shot her a look that read, I told you so.
"Oh Curtis don't you look at me like that, I did nothing wrong" said Annie.
"Well maybe you didn't, but you and Stella both forced Maddie into this situation, and you know how Maddie is, she doesn't like being forced to do things, the more you push this on her, the more she will never give in" said Curtis.
"I know but there's no harm in trying" said Annie.
"But there is harm in pushing someone to do something they don't want to do" said Curtis.
"I have to agree with Curtis on that one Annie, he's right" said Matt as Annie sighed.
"Alright fine, I won't insist anymore, but I know Maddie will come around eventually, but she just needs to get used to it" said Annie.
"Pstt is Maddie in here" came Ollie's voice from the second entrance as they all turned to look in that direction and both Annie and Matt laughed.
"She isn't here dude, you can come in" said Matt as he laughed.
"Oh thank goodness" said Ollie as he walked into the dining room with a look of relief, he really didn't want any problems with Maddie, so he was going to avoid her.
"You are avoiding Maddie?" asked Annie as she laughed.
"That's the only way we won't fight, anyway, don't mind me" said Ollie as she sat down beside Matt and they all laughed.
…
Maddie climbed on her bed as she sighed, she was the only one in the room, and she was just tired, today had been something else, from meeting Clove, to everything, it was just so annoying.
Maddie heard footsteps as she closed her eyes and Clove opened the door as she closed it behind her and she saw Maddie sleeping.
"Maddie, Maddie, are you sleeping?" asked Clove as she whispered and Maddie did not reply to her at all as she continued to pretend to be asleep.
"You are sleeping, well goodnight Maddie" said Clove with a smile as she walked to her bed, she sat down on it as she brought out a little book from under her pillow.
Maddie carefully opened her eyes as she peeked out and she saw Clove smiling as she was writing in something that looked like a diary.
A few days later.
Maddie looked out the library window, it was late, but she didn't want to go to her room and end up being in there alone with Clove.
"Yeah, yeah, she must be asleep by now though" said Maddie to herself as she closed the book she was reading, she stood up and walked out of the library.
…
Maddie was about to open the door to her room when she heard some giggling coming from inside the room as she wondered what was going on and she opened the door to see both Annie and Clove gigging as they were talking about something.
"Oh hi Maddie" said Clove as she turned to look at Maddie and she smiled.
"Mhmm hi, what's going on here?" asked Maddie in confusion.
"Oh Maddie, Clove is braiding my hair into pigtails" said Annie as she looked at Maddie and she laughed as Maddie closed the door behind her.
"Pigtails?" asked Maddie in confusion.
"Yes pigtails" said Annie as she nodded as she was sitting in front of the dressing table mirror and Clove was braiding Annie's hair.
"Pigtails are the best hairstyle in my opinion, they are just so cute, and I love sleeping in them" said Clove as she laughed and she also had her hair braided in pigtails.
"Well okay…" said Maddie as she put the book under her bed, if she had to say anything, It would be that Clove and Annie were getting closer than ever, and she didn't mind, as long as Clove didn't bother her she was fine.
"And there" said Clove as she laughed.
"Thank you Clove" said Annie as she smiled and Maddie sat on her bed and scrolled through her phone idly.
"You are welcome" said Clove as she smiled and Annie looked at Maddie's reflection in the mirror as she had an idea.
"Maddie, why don't you do your hair in pigtails as well? So we can match" said Annie as Maddie looked at her.
"Umm no" said Maddie.
"I'm too lazy to" said Maddie.
"Clove can do it for you, right Clove?" asked Annie as she smiled and she looked at Clove.
"If you want me to I can" said Clove as she smiled.
"So what do you say Maddie?" asked Annie as Maddie looked at her and she knew that she could not say no, seeing as how expectant Annie looked, she knew that she should have just stayed in the library till midnight.
"*Sigh*, fine, whatever" said Maddie as she sighed and Annie smiled.
"Yayyy" said Annie as she smiled and she stood up, and pulled Maddie up to sit down in front of the mirror in her place.
Maddie shook her head, she wondered when Clove would leave.
"If you don't want me to touch your hair Maddie, it's fine just say so" said Clove.
"No it's alright… Annie won't leave me alone if I don't" said Maddie as she kept that last part to herself.
"Well okay" said Clove as she picked up Maddie's hairbrush and she started to brush Maddie's hair with a smile.
"Your hair is so soft Maddie" said Clove as she brushed Maddie's hair gently.
"Mhmm thank you" said Maddie as she could see the brightly annoying smile on Annie's face that she wished she could rub off right now.
"Why are you smiling so much?" asked Maddie as she looked at Clove.
"Sorry, I'm just remembering something funny, when I was younger, I used to braid the hair of all the baby goats and sheep into pigtails" said Clove as she smiled.
"You had goats and sheep?" asked Annie.
"Oh yes, we had a lot of animals actually, my parents were farmers and I grew up on the farm, taking care of all the animals, they were my friends, I loved them all so much" said Clove.
"That sounds so fun" said Annie as she smiled.
"Oh it was fun" said Clove as she laughed.
