"It's so hot…" said Maddie as she groaned.
"I forgot just how hot it could get when we are walking" said Maddie as she drank from her water bottle, she was so thirst and tired, and the sun was so hot.
"How long are you going to keep on complaining Maddie?" asked Matt as he laughed and he shook his head.
"Until someone agrees with me and aids me In complaining as well" said Maddie as Annie laughed and she shook her head.
"I will agree with you" said Ollie as he smiled and Maddie looked at him as she frowned.
"I said someone, and not a blondie prince like you" said Maddie as Ollie just shook his head.
"Oh Matt, carry me, I am so exhausted" said Maddie as she looked at Matt.
"I will drop you if you jump on me Maddie" said Matt as he shook his head.
"Oh no fair, so much for being a good friend, now that you are back, you are not even being useful at all" said Maddie.
"Maddie sometimes I can't with you" said Matt as he shook his head.
"Oh whatever" said Maddie as she scoffed.
"Curtis, how long do you think that we have been on Caligo for?" asked Maddie as she looked at Curtis as they climbed up some rocks as the ground started to get rocky and higher as they went on.
"Do you want the time in days, or in months?" asked Curtis.
"Months" said Maddie.
"Well I would say about 2 and a half months" said Curtis as Annie, Maddie, Matt and Ollie were all surprised.
"Wow, for so long?" asked Maddie as she could not believe this, if she did not know that Curtis had actually been keeping track, then she would think that he just made up that number of months.
"Yes" replied Curtis.
"You know what's funny, it doesn't even feel that we've been gone for that long" said Ollie as he laughed.
"You are right, I can't believe that I haven't seen my parents in over two months" said Annie.
"I know right" said Ollie as he agreed with Annie and Matt agreed as well as he shook his head, Annie wondered how her parents were doing, if they were worried about her, she was sure that they were, and she missed them very much.
"Wow guys, way to flaunt that you have parents" said Maddie as she scoffed.
"Oh sorry Maddie, we didn't mean to…" said Annie as she looked Maddie and she was cut off.
"You don't have to apologize Annie, I am not offended at all" said Maddie as she laughed, she didn't really care, she had accepted the fact that she had no parents, or at least not ones who actually cared about her.
"Your parents are nice and cool, while some other parents should not even have the privilege of raising children" said Maddie with a hint of coldness in her tone.
"Oh Maddie" said Annie as she sighed, she knew that Maddie was trying to act as if this did not bother her at all, but that was far from the truth.
"But anyway, Curtis, how long do you think that it would take us to reach the top at this pace?" asked Maddie as she looked at Curtis who helped Annie up as the ground became even once again.
"Maybe a month or two" replied Curtis, this was taking long because they had to walk, and they did not walk all the time, they had no magic, so they stopped moving when it became cold.
"This is the longest journey that I have been on in my entire life" said Maddie as she groaned.
"Mhmm" said Curtis as he started to feel his vision get a bit blurry as he started to get dizzy and he could not walk in a straight line anymore.
"Curtis, are you okay?" asked Annie as she caught Curtis before he could fall, and she laid him on the ground to rest.
"I am fine… I just need to take my pills" said Curtis as Maddie looked at him in worry, they were not panicked, just worried.
"Okay, where are they?" asked Annie as she remained calm.
"In the right pocket of my backpack" said Curtis as Annie looked at Matt and he quickly searched for Curtis's backpack as Maddie helped him.
"Here" said Matt as he through Annie the container and she caught it as she looked at the bottle of pills.
"He needs some water" said Maddie as she took Curtis' water bottle from the side.
"Curtis, which one do you need? The green one or the white one?" asked Annie as she could not just give him all of the pills at once, she did not know what they did, so she had to be careful.
Curtis was slowly losing his vision, and his head was turning, so he closed his eyes, but he could still hear what was going on outside very clearly.
"I need the green one" said Curtis as he had already taken the white pill earlier.
"Okay Curtis, here" said Annie as she opened the container of pills she took one green one, and she helped Curtis as he took the pill, and Maddie handed her Curtis' water bottle as Annie put it to Curtis's lips and he drank the water as Curtis opened his eyes.
"Do you feel better now Curtis?" asked Annie as she looked at him in worry and Curtis nodded his head.
"I am fine now Annie" said Curtis as he sighed, he should have taken the green pill along with the white ones just as a precaution, so this would not have happened to him.
"Are you sure Curtis?" asked Annie in worry.
"Yes Annie, I am fine, we should continue on now" said Curtis as he got up and Annie looked at him In concern.
"Curtis are you sure? I think that we should take a break, you don't look so good" said Maddie as Curtis looked at her.
"Yes Curtis, Maddie Is right, you need to rest" said Matt as Ollie nodded his head as Annie agreed with all of them, Curtis did not look well at all, he looked very pale, and tired.
"Oh you all should relax, it will just take a few minutes for me to get back to normal, but right now, I am fine, I feel very well" said Curtis as he sighed, he could not blame them for being worried about him.
"Are you sure Curtis? Because it would be better for us to stay a bit, than for us to continue, what if you get worse?" asked Annie as she sighed, she was relieved that Curtis' nose had not been bleeding, but now she was even worried, at least Curtis' bleeding nose was an indication that something was wrong, but now that it didn't show, she could not tell what was going on, on the inside.
"I am fine Annie, you guys, relax, let's go, if anything your worrying is making me stressed" said Curtis.
"Alright Curtis, fine, if you say so" said Annie.
"Gosh, gee Curtis, so much for us actually caring about you, but fine, since you say we should continue, then we should continue" said Maddie as she walked ahead and she shook her head, Curtis was always so difficult, and yet, they all still cared about him.
"Curtis, you know that we just don't want to see you hurting" said Annie as she looked at Curtis and he put the pills back in his backpack along with his water bottle as Matt held his backpack for him.
"I know, and that is why I tell you all that I am alright" said Curtis.
"If that is so, then why did you start to feel dizzy?" asked Annie.
"That's because I did not take the green pills earlier along with the white pills" said Curtis.
"And why didn't you?" asked Annie.
"Because Ivor said that I should take them when I feel dizzy, but I can also take it earlier as a precaution" said Curtis.
"Oh Curtis…" said Annie as she sighed and she looked ahead Maddie was already far gone.
"We better catch up with Maddie before she gets herself lost here" said Ollie as he shook his head, with the way that Maddie was literally speed walking, they would soon lose sight of her.
"Let's go" said Curtis as he started to walk ahead and Matt, Annie and Ollie looked at each other as they sighed and they followed after Curtis.
"Stupid book, the one time we all care about him… just so annoying and unbearable sometimes" said Maddie to herself as she sighed and she spoke under her breath, she was just tired of it all, spending time with Curtis and everyone else was starting to get annoying, except for Annie, Annie was fine, but Curtis was unbearable.
"Alright Maddie, calm down, we are all stuck in this together" said Maddie to herself as she sighed internally, she really hoped that all this would end very soon.
