Annie took a pause as she looked at Ivor and he said nothing at all, Maddie just sighed internally because she knew that this would never end any way good at all.
"What do you mean book?" asked Ivor as he knew that this would be a deep story, but he could not lie that he was not surprised when Annie said that Curtis was a book, what sort of book was he then? He behaved just like a witch.
"He's… he's my guardian…" said Annie as she did not even know where to start, this was such a long story, but she would have to cut it short somehow.
"Guardian from what?" asked Ivor as Annie bit her lip.
"He's her guardian from…" said Matt as he was cut off when Ivor gestured that he keep quiet.
"No, let her speak, she is the one that needs to explain herself here" said Ivor as he looked at Matt and then at Annie who had gone completely quiet.
Matt looked at Maddie as she just shook her head, telling him with her eyes that they should all just stay out it if at this point, because this was Annie's story to tell and not theirs.
"Annie, you said that he is your guardian, why would you need a guardian?" asked Ivor as he looked at Annie.
"Are you in danger from someone… or something?" asked Ivor as Annie kept quiet, she was going through many scenarios in her head, she knew just how much Ivor and the other witches hated her and her family, and if she told them who she really was, then she was sure that they would turn on her.
But on the other hand, Curtis' life was on the line, and he needed to be saved.
Ivor just kept quiet as he waited for Annie to gather all her thoughts together so she could tell him the truth, and in that same moment, Alina opened the door carefully as she walked out of the room, she had been hearing many voices, and she wondered what was going on.
But when she saw the semi angry face of her master, she could tell that nothing good was going on here at all.
Annie bit her lip as she could only hope and pray that once she told Ivor the truth, he would keep his promise and continue to help Curtis, because that was the only thing that she cared about right now, and nothing more.
"Okay so… yes… I am in danger…" said Annie as she braced herself and she opened her mouth to speak as she looked at Ivor, she could see that he had many questions written on his face.
"Curtis is my book… he is a magical book, he's over a thousand years old, he is a sentient being and… and…" said Annie as she still did not answer Ivor's question, she did not know why she was running around in circles, maybe because she was scared of the way that he would react.
"That does not answer my question, who are you running away from?" asked Ivor as he needed an explanation, he could not be harbouring people who could be possible threats to him and Alina in his house.
"You need to let me explain first… I am getting there…" said Annie as she took a deep breath, oh how she wished that Curtis was here, he would know just what to say and do to get them out of this mess.
"Alright then, I am waiting" said Ivor as he was running out of patience, he could tell that whatever she was going to say would be something so dangerous that even he would falter once he heard it.
"I got Curtis when I was 15, on my 15th Birthday, he protects me and he makes sure that I am safe" said Annie as she knew that she was going round in circles, but she needed to get her thoughts together, she needed to provide a cushioning for when she would tell Ivor that she was a Grey.
"And… he protects me from…" said Annie as she took a pause, she felt her stomach sinking as she drew nearer to telling the truth, oh how she wished that someone would stop her or back her up, but she knew that she needed to do this on her own.
"He protects me from Azazel…" said Annie as she spit it out and Alina gasped as she everyone turned to look at her and she covered her mouth with her right hand, Annie just spoke of the forbidden name.
Ivor turned back to look at Annie as she looked at him, there she said it, the said the truth, and Ivor knew that this was what he feared, someone connected to Azazel of all witches.
"My name is Annie… Annie Grey, I am the next Grey in line, and well Azazel… he's trying to kill me, to find me" said Annie as she explained.
"Well things happened, and I wasn't able to defeat Azazel… I lost my powers, and because of that Curtis is stuck in this human form of his, we came here to Caligo to see if I will be able to get my powers back, and everything till now has just been one big whole mess" said Annie as she felt herself ranting but she knew that Ivor was listening to her.
"There, there is the truth I said it, now please, will you keep your promise and save Curtis?" asked Annie as she sighed and she stopped to look at Ivor.
"Absolutely not" said Ivor as Annie felt her heart sink.
"Oh come on" said Maddie out loud as she was not going to stand for this at all, this man was a traitor, he was a liar.
"She told you the truth, and you promised her, and here you come, you are such a liar" said Maddie.
"Enough, I will not put myself or Alina in danger by helping people like you" said Ivor as he shook his head, of course he should have never opened his doors to strangers.
"You all lied to me" said Ivor.
"Of course we would, why wouldn't we? When you are acting like this, we knew that you would act like this" said Maddie as she raised her voice.
"You all are liars, and you dare call me the liar" said Ivor as he looked at Maddie in anger and he raised his voice.
"Don't shout at Maddie like that" said Ollie as Ivor looked at him.
"I don't need you to defend me!" said Maddie as she turned to look at Ollie.
"Hey, hey, everyone stop alright" said Matt as he knew that things could not go on like this.
"No, you all get out of my house" said Ivor.
"All of you now, get out" said Ivor.
"You can't just throw us out just like that, it's still raining" said Maddie as she could not believe this guy at all, see, this was why she did not trust anybody at all, one minute they could be nice, and the next, they could be like this, chasing you out of their house.
"I can, and I will" said Ivor as all Annie could do was cry, she could not even speak, this ended up worse than she had thought.
"Enough!!" shouted Alina as everyone stopped talking and they turned to look at her as she finally found her voice to speak.
"Master, I need to speak to you… in private" said Alina as Ivor looked at her.
"What for?" asked Ivor.
"Master, In private please, let us speak in another room" said Alina as Ivor looked reluctant.
"Please…" said Alina as she pleaded with Ivor and he sighed as he walked away in the opposite direction outside in the rain.
"Annie, please don't cry, I'm going to talk to him okay?" said Alina as she looked at Annie and all Annie could do was nod her head as she cried.
"I will be right back" said Alina as she quickly rushed after Ivor as she ran out the door and Annie cried even more.
"Oh Annie" said Maddie as she sighed helplessly and she walked to hug Annie.
"Everything will be okay" said Maddie as even though she was fuming right now, Annie was the one who was suffering the most here.
"No, no it won't" said Annie as she cried and she shook her head.
"No, it will, Alina is going to talk to him okay" said Maddie as she trusted Alina, she knew that she would call Ivor into order.
"No, everything Is horrible" said Annie as she cried, she just felt so bad right now, Maddie did not know what to say to try to make Annie feel better.
"Don't think like that Annie, I am sure that everything will be sorted out" said Matt as Annie just looked at him and Ollie sighed, this was truly horrible.
