Chereads / Annie Grey / Chapter 397 - Apologize

Chapter 397 - Apologize

"Blah, blah, blah, blah, Prince Oliver this Prince Oliver that, I am just so sick and tired of it all" said Maddie to herself as she scoffed, this was just too much, at least it was bearable when Matt was still on her side, but now, he wasn't, since he and Annie made up, it was clear that she had convinced him to be nice to Ollie, and that annoyed her so much, here she was being left behind, she was always the odd one out.

"I think Maddie is lonely there on her own" said Annie as she looked at Maddie who was sulking.

"She looks more than lonely, she looked angered" said Annie as she could read Maddie's emotions well.

"Yeah… we kind of got into an argument on the way here" said Ollie sadly.

"But now I feel bad, and I want to apologize to her, but I don't think that she would let me" said Ollie.

"Well you can try" said Annie.

"Yes Annie is right, you can try, Maddie just needs some time" said Matt as he smiled.

"Okay, since you said so, I will try, I just hope that she at least listens to me" said Ollie as he sighed and he stood up.

"Good luck, you will need it" said Matt.

"Thanks" said Ollie as he smiled.

"I am sure that you will be fine" said Annie as she laughed, why did Ollie looked like he was going into the Lion's den?

"Well here goes nothing" said Ollie to himself as he sighed and he walked to where Maddie was sitting alone on the log as soon as she saw him coming towards her, her face became sour as she narrowed her eyes at him.

"What do you want?" asked Maddie in annoyance as she looked at Ollie in suspicion.

"Aren't you are your friends happily speaking there?" asked Maddie as she gave an irritated smile as Ollie said nothing, he was taking Curtis' advice, he did not want to get provoked again, so it was essential that he only spoke when necessary when with Maddie.

Ollie just gave a quick smile as he sat down beside her.

"Hey, who told you that you could sit by me?" asked Maddie in anger as she was going to stand up and leave Ollie sitting here alone, but then again she was Maddie Wolf, and she stood for no one at all, she was here first, he would have to be the one to leave, and not her.

"Look Maddie, I'm not here to fight" said Ollie as Maddie looked at him.

"I am here to apologize" said Ollie as he looked at Maddie, he was one to admit when he was wrong, and he knew that he was wrong today, which was why he was apologizing.

"Apologize for what?" asked Maddie as she feigned ignorance.

"I do not know what you are talking about" said Maddie as she looked the other way, she did not know why he was apologizing, but it would take more than that to make her crack.

"Look Maddie, I am sorry for what I said about you not being understandable, being pampered, and difficult, I should not have said those things, and you don't deserve to be called any of those things, so I'm sorry, I don't usually say such, but regardless, I take full responsibility for my actions" said Ollie as Maddie looked at him.

She had never gotten such an apology like that before, no one ever apologized to her when they offended her, not at all, she had to say that she was surprised, and maybe her anger had dissipated a bit, only a bit that was.

"So what do you say? Do you forgive me?" asked Ollie.

"Well forgiveness is a big word blondie; besides I don't get why you apologized, it's not a big deal, I've been called worse, words are just words" said Maddie.

"No Maddie, they are not just words, they can hurt like daggers, believe me I know, no one deserves to be hurt by the words of other people, especially not you" said Ollie as Maddie looked at him with an indescribable emotion.

"Well when you get hurt by words long enough, you don't feel the pain" replied Maddie as Ollie looked at her closely, he could tell that she was not speaking in an allegory.

"I am sorry Maddie, do you forgive me?" asked Ollie as he smiled, Maddie had to say that of course she could not stay angry at him when he decided to come and apologize to her… it made her feel some way.

"I don't forgive you, but I can do you this, we won't mention or bring this up again" said Maddie.

"And also, the next time you dare try to insult me, your fingers will not move for a week" said Maddie as she smiled.

"Alright, deal" said Ollie as he smiled, he knew that with Maddie, the first offer she mentioned was always the best, or else, you would be dealing with a very dangerous girl.

"Good, know your place blondie" said Maddie as she smiled at him.

"I do" replied Ollie as he smiled at her, at least things were back to normal… kind of, in a way.

"Oh and one more thing, don't apologize, it makes you weak" said Maddie.

"Well I don't think so, apologizing is a way to show that you are sorry for what you did, It doesn't make you weak, on the contrary, it makes you respected, when you own up to your mistake instead of pushing the blame to someone else" said Ollie as he smiled.

"I beg to differ, when you apologize, people see it as a way to trample and walk over you, thinking that you are weak" said Maddie.

"Well sure, but there is a difference between being weak, and being respectable" said Ollie as he really gave Maddie something to think on.

"Regardless, you have your views, and I have mine, please I am too tired to start another argument, so you can leave now" said Maddie.

"Well alright then, if you say so" said Ollie as he stood up and he smiled.

"You know that you can always come and join us" said Ollie as he smiled.

"No, I don't feel in the mood to be around happy people right now" said Maddie as she was still annoyed, those mosquitos put her in a very bad mood, good thing that Curtis said that they were not harmful at all, even though she did not really trust him, he could be giving her false information.

Ollie just shook his head as he smiled, only Maddie would say that she did not want to be around happy people.

"Okay, if you say so, if you change your mind you know where to find us" said Ollie as he laughed.

"I won't" said Maddie as she shook her head and Ollie walked away and he, Annie and Matt continued talking.

Maddie sighed, she could not help but think about what Ollie had said about apologies, she had to give it to him, he really put his point across, but, she could not believe his logic, even if she tried, she was raised and told never to apologize, that it was showing weakness, she could never bow down for anyone, they had to bow down for her.

But of course there was the exception of her bowing down for her so called father Azazel, she was terrified of him to death, so much so that she dreaded being punished by him when she did something wrong, in that case apologizing or begging for mercy was to no help at all.

He had no regard for apologies, it only fuelled his wrath, and well he hated it even more when she pleaded for mercy, he said that it was a weak move, and that she should just bear her punishment with courage, and accept it.

Maddie shivered as the cold wind blew, she did not know if it was the cold, or the memories that she was remembering that made her shiver, or maybe it was a little bit of both.

Regardless, Maddie did not want to think about this topic any longer, she would only end up having nightmares from her memories.

"Dinner is served" said Curtis as he walked back with their plates and he handed them all their food.

"Thank you Curtis" said Annie and Matt as they smiled and Ollie thanked Curtis as well as Curtis gave Maddie her food as she did not even say thank you.

"Are you alright?" asked Curtis as he looked at Maddie, she did not look like herself.

"I am fine" replied Maddie as she did not look at Curtis at all.

"I'm just tired, that's all" said Maddie as she really did not want to explain why she felt the way she felt.

"Okay then, if you say so" said Curtis as he shrugged.
