Six days later.
Since Annie had woken up, Lisa, John, Matt and Maddie had taken turns to take care of her and the watched over her.
Lucinda and Lucas had also come to see her, along with Bella and Jacob, and day by day Annie seemed to be getting better and better little by little, and yet Curtis never came to visit her, not even for once, only the time he came that day, and after that he had disappeared like he had never existed.
"*Sigh*" said Annie as she opened her eyes, she was tired, tired of laying down here all day, bedridden, doing nothing but watching other people going by, and it just made her very annoyed.
Annie summoned all her strength and she rested her back on the wall behind her, she removed the clip on the finger on her right hand, and she removed the blanket on her feet as she attempted to get out of bed.
She stumbled as her feet touched the ground for the first time in over a month, the floor felt very cold and she shivered as she persisted and she stood up on her two feet, she just felt so weak, as if her entire body was aching and unable to move.
She felt so hopeless, so weak, so faint, but regardless, Annie persisted to take another step as she used the bed as her support.
"*Gasp*,Annie what are you doing!!!" asked Maddie as in surprise as walked into the room with a smile and her eyes went wide once she saw Annie was trying to work.
"Annie you heard what Aunt Stella said, you have to stay in bed, you are still not strong enough yet" said Maddie as she rushed to Annie's side and she helped her back into bed.
"Annie, don't do that again, you really scared me, gosh, imagine if I didn't come in time, and you ended up falling and hurting yourself" said Maddie as she sounded like a concerned mother.
She had just left for a few minutes to go and get a snack, and yet there Annie was, trying to walk on her own.
"I am fine Maddie" said Annie but her voice came out as nothing but barely a whisper, which was just great, not only was she weak, but her voice was to.
"Here drink this" said Maddie as she poured Annie a glass of water and she gave it to her, Annie almost let go of the cup as her hands were not used to holding such a heavy object.
"Does your voice feel better now?" asked Maddie as she looked at Annie and she took the glass away from her, and Annie nodded her head.
"Good" said Maddie as she smiled.
"Do you want something to eat?" asked Maddie and Annie shook her head no.
"Oh come on Annie, you need to eat, that's the only way you will feel better and stronger" said Maddie as she pleaded with Annie.
"I don't feel hungry" said Annie as her voice broke as she spoke.
"Oh but come on Annie, you need to eat" said Maddie once again.
"You just need to force yourself to, even if you don't want to" said Maddie as she begged Annie and Annie shook her head, she just felt so bad right now.
"Aww Annie, pleaseee" said Maddie, she could not bear to see Annie like this, just so helpless and unwell, it broke her heart every time she saw Annie in this state, and she only wanted to help her get better.
"Maddie is right Annie, you have to eat" came the familiar voice of someone both Annie and Maddie were surprised to see.
"Curtis??!!" asked Maddie in utter shock, she had not seen this guy, or this book rather, in over a month, and yet he just shows up here.
"Cu…rtis" said Annie as her voice cracked as she called out to Curtis.
"Don't move Annie, you will end up doing more harm than good if you move" said Curtis as he walked closer to where Annie was sitting on her bed and Maddie was just standing there, shocked and wondering where this guy had been this entire time.
"Bu…t" said Annie as her voice cracked.
"Enough Annie, no buts, don't argue with me now, because I am not going to let you do anything you want" said Curtis, he did not look angry, but his tone sounded serious.
Annie nodded her head, she could tell that Curtis was not in the mood to be argued with, so she did not say anything, she was just so glad to be finally seeing him again, after so long, she would have cried if she had any water in her body for tears.
"Now, just like Maddie said, you will eat, and I do not want to hear any complains alright?" asked Curtis as he looked at Annie sternly and she nodded her head.
"Good" said Curtis as he was about to turn around and walk away when he felt his hand being held and he stopped.
Annie held his hand, the look in her eyes spelt "Please don't leave", and Curtis sighed.
"Alright, I won't leave Annie" said Curtis and Annie smiled at him as she let go of his hand.
"Annie, we will be back soon, let me go get you something to eat, while me and Curtis catch up" said Maddie as she smiled at Annie.
"Is that alright Annie?" asked Maddie as she smiled and Annie nodded her head.
"Great, we will be back soon, and don't move" said Maddie as she smiled and without warning she grabbed Curtis's hand and she yanked it and pulled him to follow her as she closed the door and they walked a bit.
"Curtis, just where the heck have you been all this while??" asked Maddie as she turned around and she let go of Curtis's hand as she looked at him, she was very angry with him.
"Do you know that we have been looking for you, you have been gone for such a long time, to who knows where??" said Maddie.
"Don't think that you can just waltz back in here like nothing happened, you have some serious explaining to do" said Maddie a she was not having any of this at all.
"And who told you that you can speak to me like that?" asked Curtis as his voice was laced with coldness.
"And what made you so mean all of a sudden?" asked Maddie as this was not Curtis at all, this was just some big meanie who decided to show up at the worst time possible.
"*Sigh*, Look Curtis, I don't have time for this, neither of us do" said Maddie as she sighed.
"Annie needs all of us, regardless of if we are all not on good terms" said Maddie.
"Oh and Aunt Stella needs to speak with you, she said that it is very urgent and she has not been able to find you" said Maddie.
"I hope that you will go and see her" said Maddie as she walked away, she had Annie to take care of, and she really did not have the time, or neither was she in the mood to deal with Curtis who clearly was no longer himself.
…
"Hey Annie, how are you doing?" asked Matt as he walked into the room and he looked at Annie and she smiled at him.
"Oooh why is she so happy today?" asked Matt.
"Did something happen?" asked Matt as he turned to look at Maddie who was busy feeding Annie watermelon slices that would help her regain many lost fluids.
"Well Curtis came by, and Annie is thrilled" said Maddie as she smiled, and she could not hide her annoyance even if she wanted to.
"Well it's good that he finally showed up after so long" said Matt as he also was annoyed, Curtis was being very, very annoying.
"So how are you feeling Annie?" asked Matt as he turned back to look at Annie and he smiled.
"Of course she is over the moon because she has missed Curtis for such a long time" said Maddie a she smiled.
"Am I right Annie?" asked Maddie as she smiled and she looked at Annie, and Annie nodded her head and she smiled at her.
"You look way much better, and I am very happy about that" said Matt as he smiled and Annie smiled back at him, she was finding it easier to smile and move her face more, even though her body was still aching her.
"Oh and Maddie, he's here …again" said Matt as he sighed.
"Gosh, can that guy just give us a break for a moment??" asked Maddie as she scoffed and she shook her head.
"I thought he wasn't coming anytime soon" said Maddie.
"Well so did I, but he decided that he was bored, and well here he is" said Matt as he sighed and he shook his head while Annie was looking at Maddie and Matt and wondering who they were both referring to.
"Oh Annie, sorry, we are talking about this very annoying guy, that you soon will meet" said Maddie as she noticed that Annie was looking at she and Matt with confusion, and Annie nodded her head, she was curious to who Maddie and Matt were both talking about with so much annoynce.
